Came here upon recommendation and let me say I'm going back to that friend and giving him a huge…read morethank you. The food was great, really hit the spot. Tortillas were crispy and fried to perfection. The consommé was delicious, had me drinking it straight out the cup and was well seasoned, hot, and was in its own something to right about. The red and green salsas were also good. Red having a bit of kick, green was flavorful. I will say that I wish one of them had more heat to it but the acidity and flavors were great. The beef itself was so flavorful and tender, well seasoned, not to mention had the perfect amount in each item. Also, Onions and peppers on the side were cooked great and had me going back for more each time. Also, get the horchata, it was spectacular. This place is small but decorated to really feel like the owners, workers, really care and take pride in the establishment. It had a great ambiance that was full of people on a rainy lunch hour, and I can see why. As a person who works in the industry as a cook, the kitchen, which you can see when you order is neat, clean, and truly has the right feel of 'they know what they're doing and they're doing it well'. 5 stars, will be talking about this meal for a long time and spreading the recommendation to as many people as I can.

Very rarely do I come across a restaurant where you feel like its existence is based on the love of…read morethe food over anything else. They have birria, both beef and lamb, on any given day. Their chicharron tacos in green salsa taste just like mom made them, and all their meats have a flavor you have to hunt down and go through 5-10 different spots to find them in other cities. Service is friendly, and the establishment is what you want a good Mexican restaurant to look like. The TV playing '90s Mexican music videos was a nice bonus. This is the best Mexican food in Milwaukee, the closest thing to it, and probably still falling short would be Atotonilco in Chicago. Don't overdo the brats, and head on over here for delicious and authentic Mexican food.

Stopped here for brunch on a whim and were generally impressed with the great atmosphere and staff…read more We arrived right around 10a and were promptly seated. The dining room was colorful collection of pictures, garlands and banners which added to the cheery atmosphere. I had the fiesta burrito with chorizo. As stated, it comes smothered with their house made sauces, one green, maybe cilantro or avocado, the either a red sauce. Not listed in the description was also corn, carrot and peas. Don't be surprised when you cut into it and you see that. On the side was a coleslaw that brought some nice heat and brightness to the plate as well. Maybe the biggest surprise of the entire meal was the house coffee they served up. Today I believe it was their sauvecito. While I was surprised that they would serve such a strongly flavored house coffee, it packed a nice cocoa flavor that rounded out the meal nicely.

I ordered the La Bandera and it was overly salty. Now, I don't know if this is the norm for this dish, or if the chef that night was heavy handed. The first bite seemed ok, but the more I ate, the saltier it became, it seemed. Hubs had the short rib sandwich and was not impressed. We also had the queso dip, which I liked very much, and a pitcher of margaritas, which we both enjoyed. I would try this place again, because you never know if someone is having an off night and deserves a second chance. I'd also like to come here during the day (the Dia part) to try that menu as well. 88/2025

I was saddened that the beans and rice had zero flavor and my stuffed poblanos were more cheese than anything. And I like cheese, but it was just too much for that dish. Overall, I had to put hot sauce on everything just to finish it. We had great service immediately after being seated, but after receiving our food we were not checked on again until flagging the waitress for our bill. No refills on drinks, no "how's the food". The restaurant wasn't even busy, with only two other tables of guests besides ours. The most offensive thing of all was a line item on the bill for non-cash fee. This was not disclosed of time, and legally in Wisconsin an added credit card charge needs to be posted at the entrance and point of sale, and not to exceed 3% of the bill. Our non-cash fee was nearly 4% of the total bill after taxes. That's not cool at all. I won't be coming back, and wouldn't recommend dining here to my friends. Maybe their food truck has better offerings? I've always heard good reviews about Romero's so this was such a letdown.
