We had dinner on the terrace, inviting another couple. It started out pleasant enough, the valet service and the greeting by the hostess and maitre'd was very pleasant, welcoming, setting up great expectations. It always feels good arriving in style to the new promising address in Paris. Unfortunately it was down hill from there. We all ordered a glass of champagne to start - one would expect to be served olives, or nuts with an aperitif - this was not the case. I ordered a second glass for my dinner, the others shared a bottle of wine. With the second glass I asked for olives, waiter came with a nice silver dish with nuts and olives, which I can only guess is what is intended to be served with an aperitif. When the entree came, he tried to take the olives, normal, I asked that he leave them to enjoy with my champagne. When the entree were finished, he snatched up the olives and nuts without consideration or asking if I want to keep them - found this rude. Okay, let that go. I ordered a well described cod with thai rice and coconut curry sauce - sounded divine. Could not even believe my eyes when the plate was served; the fish was deep fried, and dry, just sitting on a white plate like a hard piece of dried out fried food, served with three small quenelles of rice, no sauce on the plate. The sauce, basically flavorless, came on the side. Seriously one of the least appetizing dinners I have ever had. The men split a steak and thought it was passible, nothing special, no complaints, no accolades. For dessert I ordered a café gourmand - the three desserts on a plate came, with no coffee - I was told the coffee was coming. Ten minutes later, still no coffee- we had to ask. Really, serving a café gourmand without the coffee? With the exception of the terrible quality in food, my issues may not seem like big issues - but the problem I have overall is that when you are paying for a five star experience, even on the terrace where the menu a lighter fare - you expect a minimum of standards to be met- especially when, four people having dinner, one bottle of wine, five glasses of champagne, three entree, four plates, three desserts, one coffee and two bottles of mineral water, come to 552€, just a little extra would be appreciated? Sure, we love to dress in our designer clothes, drive our nice cars and sit in a luxurious environment, but is it too much to expect to have better than average service and cuisine?
Not a fan, and we will never go back. read more
