Awesome concert venue with parking really being the only concern. This review, however, is for an event... the weekly Salsa Thursday Social. And let me put this out there as a fair disclaimer, I've got two left feet. We chose the 7pm option ($17) which included an hour of instruction to begin with. The other ticketing option starts at 8p ($7) and is the actual Salsa Social. I can only gush about the camaraderie and concerted effort that was uninhibitedly displayed by the delightfully wide-ranging crowd of about 100 during the 8p social. Wide ranging in age, demographics, abilities, and with a near 50-50 gender balance too. The cathedral height and vast open floor created an auditory airiness and ample distance between everyone for salsa missteps. The lone frustration about this event was in the beginning 7pm hour. The experienced couple on stage, leading the instructions, polled everyone (roughly 50 folks at this phase) and about a 1/3 indicated they were true beginners. They then proceeded to demonstrate sequences at mind-boggling speeds. Eventually some folks urged them to slow down but then the transition to the next series of steps would occur barely 5 minutes later. At the half-hour mark you're trying to remember 4-5 sequences AND string them all together. Yes, there were lots of smiles, some surrenders, and flashes of brilliance (not me). My partner had a little informal salsa exposure through weddings and parties and even she could barely keep up with the instructions. Here's the catch-22. IF you can (truly) master these 6-8 basic sequences AND string them together AT salsa-music-speed, you can have a convincingly decent time during the 8p social. IF! So I get the urgency of mastering these modest starting sequences in the first hour. But for those beginners contemplating attending, simply know what you're getting into. Had I known what I now know, I probably would have been too intimidated to try at such a fast pace and instead opted for some private/studio lessons first. The Social hour really is a wonderful opportunity to explore your inner salsa, no matter your ability. The crowd is very forgiving. But your inner critic will probably want some fundamentals more buttoned up :) read more

I can't talk highly enough about this place! By far the most beautiful venue I have ever been to and might ever be to in my life. The sound quality and lighting are truly top tier. Entering the venue isn't as hard as it may seem and the signs for parking help a ton when it's show time. If you are on the fence about going here I would definitely give it a shot. This was my first time here and I was impressed. The history of the place is so interesting and enjoyed seeing the different areas including the outside patio and bar. The ceilings are really beautiful. Inside there is a small bar, an all-gender bathroom (with private stalls), and the seating area. We went for a concert by a singer, Patti Zlaket, with a band. The acoustics were really great and we really enjoyed her show. It is centrally located which is convenient. There is a restaurant next to it and you can bring food from there inside. They have a wide variety of shows. The one downside is limited parking. They do have a few handicap spots and you can reserve a spot for an extra amount when you buy the tickets. It's a really nice addition to available venues in Tucson. read more

We've been here over 10 years and go to many concerts around the country and this was the most unique venue yet. The ambiance, the acoustics, and the overall feel of the place made us want to return as often as possible. That's not a bad seat in the place. Absolutely stunning venue with stellar sound and staff! A handful of bars to choose from, as well as 2 outside patios and sister restaurant "Sisters" next door. Occasional evenings, staff will hand out 15% off flyers for the restaurant after a show. Grab a drink and get loose. What a place to transcend! read more

What an amazing and beautiful venue! Since it used to be a church, the acoustics and lighting projections are just perfect. They have 3 bars (one called The Confessionary, a cute one-person bar), a front bar with a balcony, and a spacious bar- patio in the back. They also had a taco bar in the outdoor patio. La Rosa is a new, welcoming live music venue in Tucson. The Benedictine has been transformed without losing the architectural character of the space, and the programming has been solid. The acoustics are fantastic, and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. For most shows, the front and patio bars + taco bar open 1.5 hours prior to the show. Service is quick and friendly. If we could give 6 stars to this new venue, we would. Honestly, it's now our favorite spot to enjoy music. It is gorgeous. Stunning. And there is absolutely NO bad spot to stand! Recently, we saw two of our favorite bands, Bay Ledges and LEISURE. The show was sensational and the sound was epic. Also, because this was a former monastery, the architecture allows individuals to roam in and out of the main room, venture to the multiple bars, bathroom, and feel extremely comfortable. The patio bar is beautiful and quintessential Tucson, with beautiful desert-western decor. We invited a big group of friends to this show and every single one of them was so impressed and planned to buy tickets to many more shows. Also, every person we interacted with, security, bartenders, and employees were friendly, considerate and outstanding. We are SO thrilled this new venue was created in such a breathtaking, and historic spot. So many unique and outstanding bands are scheduled, we can't wait to head back. read more

I am overall very pleased and impressed with my first trip to this new venue called La Rosa. I had heard good things and I am glad sing its praises as well . This is a beautiful new venue to join Tucsons vibrant scene, and it is housed in the historical Benedictine Monastery off of country club. I got to see the beloved local turned national duo of Ryanhood and it was just stellar. It was a seated show and we did general admission but were still comfortable and had no problem getting seat. There are two bars and although a little bit of a line.. still friendly service and reasonable drink prices. Two of the house cocktails (Neon Prophet ..delish btw) were 13$ each . Note that it is a cashless establishment! Nice patio, plenty of restrooms and good security around. Also note that parking is tricky, while there is some on site and encouraged to pre purchase , watch for signage in the neighborhood to avoid a ticket. We chose ride share and that was easy. Also their website is easy to buy tickets on and it seems like they have lots of great shows coming up! I'm definitely excited for this new hot spot! And don't miss on the tacos out back! read more

Fantastic venue!!! Much better than the last mass I caught there. Went to see Miss Olivia and the Interlopers and wow what a show! The music was fantastic, lighting was wonderful, and I even got in for confession! Everything was wonderful except the pizza out on the patio, a few of us got sliced and we were not fans. Maybe they were sitting too long but they could have been better, but as far as venue... 5 stars!! read more

WOW! This is an amazing new music venue for Tucson. The venue is wonderful for any and all music I have seen here. Been open 4 months and I've been 4 times now. The cocktails at the bar are tasty and so unique so that is also great. They now have a restaurant next door and allow you to come and go btwn the two places which is very nice. Sisters Restaurant & the La Rosa Venue are such gems in Tucson! We ordered the family-style lasagna for four- six people, and it was absolutely delicious--the perfect portion size, rich, comforting, and honestly tasted homemade in the best way. It also came with a large, fresh salad that was perfect for sharing, which made the whole meal feel thoughtful and complete. Beyond the food, the venue itself is incredibly well designed--fun, inviting, and clearly well thought out. The beautiful outdoor space and bar make it such a great place to relax, hang out, and soak in the atmosphere before and after a show. We had an excellent concert experience, and the combination of great food, a chill vibe, and a fantastic setting made the night memorable. All gender bathroom is disgusting. As a woman there are things I do after I wash my hands. I check my makeup, check for boogers and check for panty lines. I am comfortable washing my hands and doing female things in front of other females. I had to wash my hands next to a man and did NOT feel comfortable to do my usual female things in front of MEN. There is no other bathroom. I had to pee badly. If I choose to share a bathroom with MEN, that should be MY choice. La Rosa took my CHOICE away. It is a cashless establishment, and when 2 beers comes to $30 on a card, this is ridiculous. My husband and i left without even seeing the opening bands. read more

Beautiful venue with amazing sound. Bar service moves quickly and restaurant are clean. Only issue was the floor barrier used to secure the electrical wiring for the sound engineer. People kept tripping on it and often with drinks in their hands. While no fell, we lost count after the 50th person. Understand the necessity but this was an accident waiting to happen by using a large barrier. The interior is so lovely that people were not looking down as they walked. read more

Transforming a historic building into a loud, obnoxious neighbor is certainly a choice. The owners clearly don't care about the residents who LIVE IN THE BUILDING (and weren't even told it was going to be a music venue until AFTER the deal was made). La Rosa blasts music past 'quiet enjoyment' hours and allows their patrons to run amok right outside people's homes. PLEASE find a different way to support your favorite artists. read more
