It feels like there is ALWAYS something going on here. On my first visit, my girlfriend took me on a date here to catch a burlesque show. It was absolutely packed and everyone had a great time! And every Friday and Saturday night, there is some reiteration of a goth dance night ($5 cover). I also appreciate the slightly older crowd full of my fellow thirtysomethings, and the upstairs patio cannot be missed when the weather is nice. The cocktail menu isn't anything especially fancy, but there's still something for everyone to enjoy. My favorite is always the Prickly Heat--think a prickly pear margarita that's absolutely loaded with fresh jalapenos. It's not for the weak! There's also food, and while it's not mind-blowing or anything you'll appreciate that you can have a nice snack at midnight on a weekend. Surly Wench is a local cultural institution, and we're lucky to have it.

The awesome security man took control promptly to this upset in the women's restaurant. And the awesome owner basically had that intruder leaving with their member between his legs (acknowledging tr*ns validity at the same time. What tact!). Let's keep the women, and security man restroom clean! The awesome surly patriots at the wench bar made sure to take it to the street and communicate a policy of forgiveness and brutal clarity in making sure certain members of our community cannot go bathroom real quick without a valid state ID or proper members. No one should be allowed to draw on the stall after they are standing outside, I don't care what is wrong with you! God bless these surly patriots for how they protect their American bart patrons. I do not think it means what you think it means. I remember when the KRL had a hitching post out in front, and Kolb was a dirt road. Ahhhh...days of yore. Anyway, I was feeling cranky and stressed and like a junkie I needed my fix that only a dive can give. The KRL. This joint is cool by me. I like their drafts, I like their shots, I like the pretty bartender with the ripped up shirt. I liked the cleaning advice about the hot dog machine. Really. It's the final buff that gives the "just grilled " taste. If you're peckish, the KRL also has pizza. And the rolling wieners. The regulars are super cool, happy and play great music on the jukebox. There are two pool tables and numerous flat screens for sports, and NASCAR. (If that's a sport.) [haha...redneck mob with pitchforks and torches* stay away from my house. I grew up watching Dale Sr., Andretti, Petty, and Pearson...oh and Ricky Bobby and Ligtnin' McQueen. And I vaguely remember "Days of Thunder"] Here is how I know it's a legit joint: One of the regs asked me what I did for a living. The train car seating area is a standout feature; very cool and vibey, and it gives the place a unique character you don't see often. Service is good, and the food is pretty yummy for typical bar fare. The fried mushrooms and dragon wings are my favorites and are always a solid choice. There's also a good selection of drinks to choose from without breaking the bank. The Depot, is an enjoyable spot that reminds me of my hometown neighborhood dive. It has a lot of personality, decent drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere.

Since Reilly is so large, it's not easy to find. Go through the restaurant, get on the patio, and look for a stairwell. Once you get down there, you'll see several seats at the bar and some booths. I sat at one of the booths. Service (4/5): You order at the bar. Since it was a Tuesday, I was alone for part of my visit and there with a handful of people for the rest. I had to grab the bartender's attention several times, but when I was able to get ahold of him, he was friendly and efficient. Food (N/A): I had dinner prior and I don't believe they have food anyways. You can order food at Reilly's though and bring it down yourself. Drinks (4/5): When I'm at a speakeasy, I look for a creative list of craft cocktails that have interesting flavor profiles and ingredients. Tough Luck Club has a nice menu which gives a solid description of each one. The sophistication isn't quite there but they're fun. One is Game of Thrones-themed. I was greeted by Jessica, the bar tender who served me a mini pitcher of beer. The beer was cold and refreshing. My wife had a vodka drink which was made exactly how she ordered it. The saloon was alive with people who were playing pool and flinging darts. Country and Western.music was playing on the touch tunes jukebox. Wow! Was a great little honky tonk! There is no food, but you can buy a bag of chips. When I am back in Tucson, this place is on my list. It's a great place with a good vibe.

My friends and I looked at the draft beers. Not much other than the usual dive bar brands. We ordered bottled beer, and sat down to get a vibe. Several people that walked in were greeted by the bar tender, and she did not pay much attention to us once we got our beer. Seemed the people that were regulars got most of the attention. I get that...but there was an opportunity to have three more regulars, and I feel like that opportunity was missed. We drank our beer, and left. I may try this place again at some point...but there are a lot of other dive bars that embrace new customers.
