Ehhhhhhhh not really worth the stop. Fun ambience though! And nice workers. But the food was miiiiiiiiid. The only thing that was good was the taco, if you're gonna go just get like 4 of those pulled pork tacos and you will have a good time. read more

Food service and ambiance was great best in town the flautas and el Rey plate were really good

We had lunch here and it was a clean and nice location to eat at. Food was good, staff were nice and the prices were actually lower than most restaurants these days. read more

Do NOT sleep on this place! I ordered my food to-go but had enough time to admire the beautifuly decorated seating areas and art! The food!! Was SO good! The green sauce is HOT (and good) the red sauce?! Is OMG- GOOD! Smokey, lightly spicy-I need a whole cup to bring home to add to everything! Meal came with a side of toasty chips! Meal size is perfect! Service was excellent! Servers were super nice! Glad we came in before any rush hour. Also it was a Tuesday and in spring- I imagine summer being busy! I CANT WAIT to visit again! read more

Service was great! Such nice staff and I loved the art on the booths and the wall! The wood was meh unfortunately. I really wanted it to be good. I got the most expensive burrito with everything in it. And while my order might've been the issue, it was just not good. Good portion though! However the carnitas taco was definitely up to par! Very tender carnitas with a great corn tortilla! Generous on the meat too! read more

With only a few hours notice, we descended upon this restaurant with 30 people. They seated us in 2 long tables. Service was fast and organized and the food was delicious! We were so well taken care of and I was super impressed by their ability to time everything so that it was ready at about the same time. Hot and delicious! I had the al pastor and pollo tacos. The pastor was flavorful and the pollo had a nice amount of heat. We will definitely be coming back next time we're in Newport! read more

Bright - colorful environment, with ample seating. We enjoyed our meals which were served quickly, by a friendly server. read more

this is the worst Mexican food in town. the service was way more interested in the guys drinking beer behind us then to refill our water glasses. THERE IS NO MEAT IN THEIR CHIMICHANGA , i asked the waitress if she made a mistake and gave me a bean burrito? she said no that a chimichanga..................hmmm I opened it up NO CHICKEN, just REFRIED BEANS............ I WILL NEVER GO BACK OR RECCOMMEND THIS PLACE. read more

The food was not good. I have eaten here twice for lunch to be fair and each time the food was just not good. My chicken chimichanga was filled with refried beans and a little chicken. Really disappointing. This was the first time I left without finishing my meal. Our server did a good job until it was time to pay and she just left us sitting there. We finally pointed to our table where we left the money and we walked out. The restaurant was very clean and decorated well. Sadly after two visits, it will be our last. read more

Chimichanga is the best in Oregon. Great service. Exceptional Food. I've been searching for a great Chimi. You'll find it here.

This place was amazing! I loved the waitresses who were sweet and friendly. The ambiance was beautiful and the place was clean. I had a strawberry margarita which was strong and great! We had the #8 combo dinner plate with a beef chimichanga, chicken tamale and cheese enchilada and OMG I was in heaven! Thank you Newport for a great birthday week! Vive por hoy! read more

It was Taco Tuesday so looking for tacos. We stumbled upon this place. We shared carne asada platter. It was tasty but meat was dry. The most delicious part of the meal was the al pastor taco. I like supporting local but cannot give more than 3 stars. read more

Best Mexican food in Newport Oregon We have lived in Nevada for over 6 years and this resturant had the best food Service was awesome and ambiance authentic read more

Good, consistent quality and service. Very authentic! Atmosphere inside was lively and a bit noisy, but overall a positive experience

Great food and nice people. The place is decorated really beautiful. Is was really closed to out hotel.

great place to get old school bad mexican food, super old schoool over cheesy enchiladas

SO LOUD! We could hardly hear each other and there were only four other tables with diners. The kitchen staff all yelling at each other and screaming kids made it an unpleasant environment. Full bar and good size dining room. Fast kitchen but never saw the server again. Still only four other tables and two servers. Mediocre to untasty food. Ordered two chimichangas and only got one. The carne asada tasted weird. Pork verde was tender but wasn't cooked in the sauce, just added before serving. We'll eat elsewhere next time. read more

One star for our second visit in 12 months. It was incredibly disappointing. Not only was service subpar but the food was too. We brought the issues to the attention of the server which included one of the dishes being gross, only one bite was taken and it was beyond awful. The response we received was "oh, no. I'm sorry" and that was it. $16.50 for an uneaten dish, absolutely ridiculous. read more

First time eating here and it was amazing... the Cadillac margaritas are woohoo!! I can't believe this place is not busier..

I like this La Roca a lot. The food is always fresh and tasty, not too heavy or greasy, and all the people with whom I've interacted that work there are super pleasant. Thanks for being here and working during this crazy time! read more

The food and service at La Roca are amazing!!! Staff are always so friendly. The food is so delicious. We've tried several different items and all of them have been delicious. We highly recommend this restaurant. read more

The food was the worse I've had. The carne asada was reheated, and served as fresh. The Cadillac Margarita should be renamed, 'The ford escort margarita'. The server took over 15 minutes to get my tab, after asking 2-3 times. She did not table touch once, aside from when they dropped off my beef jerky, I mean carne asada. I'm not one to give someone a hard time, but trust me just go to McDonald's. read more

Great food! Great drinks! Great staff!!!! Try it out for your self!!! We were both quite impressed with the food and we are from out of town. Give it a go, you won't be sorry read more

Was recommended here since I was missing authentic tacos. I ordered the pastor, asada, and cabeza taco for take out. I was surprised that it came with chips and salsa. The price of the the tacos are 2.25 and 2.50 which are on the pricier side than I normally spend, but that's what you get in a small town. The pastor had a good flavor but it did not taste like a pastor taco. The asada taco was just like any other ordinary asada tacos you get. The cabeza taco was probably my favorite. It was the right amount of juicy and soft and saltiness. Each taco meat wasn't dry and had salsa on top. read more

Blazing fast kitchen, friendly service, and empty-your-plate-good food. Bright decor inside, promising deck outside. Beware: we had to ask for extra tomatillo salsa because it was just pleasantly hot to the fire-breather in the party, but nobody else was scooping it up like guacamole! read more

Horrible service and food. Took our son who came down for the weekend out to dinner here. We usually eat there once a month. The service tonight was horrible. We had to wait to be seated, even longer to place our order and get our food. This time the food was not good. The coffee had a perfume taste to it. The usually mild salsa was so hot it burnt my tongue. Food has gone way down hill from a month ago. Margaritas are terrible. The service was very slow and the waitress was very rude when I asked about a charge on our bill. $2.50 for an extra tortilla. I said that was ridiculous and she laughed. We will never go there again. This place is terrible. read more

Only reason for having 2 stars is because there's a nice lady here who was always smiling, IF you're looking for something fast, DO NOT come here. It took over 15 minutes to bring out drinks. Food is all reheated , only thing fresh is the drinks. read more

On March 17, 2012 my husband and I were in Newport, Oregon. I had a hankering for Mexican food and we found this out of the way treasure called La Roca Mexican Restaurant. I had Chicken Fajitas and my husband had a combination plate with an Enchilada and a Chorizo Taco. As you can by the picture my husband had finished the Enchilada and was working on the taco. He raved about the taste of both. The Chorizo Taco per my husband was "most excellent"! I on the other hand the Chicken Fajita. It was lovely. The flavor was fresh and the dish was cooked to perfection! The fajita dish could feed a small army. There was enough food left over I had two additional meals from it. I asked for additional tortillas to take with me. They were fresh. I wouldn't be surprised if they were made on site or locally. If you are in the mood for Mexican food while on the coast, this is a definate stop! We go to this area several times a year and we will definately be back. I noticed another review that mention poor service. We did not experience this at all. If anything I would say the opposite. The young man that served us was kind, considerate and had a smile the entire time. He was also very attentive gave us menus right away and with minutes was at our table to take our order. All in all the service was great! read more

The food was great but the service was terrible. Without a doubt the worst service we have ever received at a restaurant. I am really easy going when it comes to not great service. I get people are not 100% all the time and that is completely fine. But the servers made it seem like we were a problem being there. Service can make or break an experience and this a perfect example of that. It was disappointing meal to say the least and it's completely due to the lack of service we received. I'm still shocked it was so bad. read more

Food was great. Service was a bit overwhelmed, but it's a nice restaurant and great food made up for it. We will be back!

We look forward to lunch here every time we're at the coast. Excellent choice after a long day out on the ocean. We love the street tacos and the burritos! Our friends make a point to stop when they're in town too. You won't be disappointed. read more

Spotted here for dinner on the way to our destination. It was great they were able to seat nine of us. The restaurant itself wasn't busy at all food came out very quickly, great chips and salsa! I ordered a raspberry margarita that was delicious! Also the beef taco and cheese enchilada plate was great. Someone else from my table got a burrito that loved. It wasn't that expensive either for 9 of us it was $80. read more

We've recently moved out to the coast after being in Portland/Gresham forever. There are lots of good Mexican restaurants in those areas. I've been hunting down for one out here for a while now. We headed in here to give it a try and was impressed by the menu from the beginning. We ordered pescado, camarones, lingua and carnitas tacos sans sour cream and one of them had the infamous yellow shredded cheese. I just brushed it off and pretended it wasn't ever there. Otherwise we really enjoyed them. I also loved that you get chips and bean dip, and 2 other salsas right at the start. They did not appear to come out of any jar or can and I had to order more salsa since I could have drunk it. The chips were not out of a bag either. Also got the guacamole which was very creamy and flavorful. We will be back and I'm getting the Coctel de Camarones (shrimp cocktail) next time. I have not found that item on any menu until now. read more
