    Salad and bowl.

This place hasn't changed in about 30 years! I do have to say, they still have the best clam chowder on the coast. I had the bowl and salad combo which was just right for lunchtime. The chowder had a film on top as if it had been sitting a while. It was good though. You could taste the freshness of the clams. Service was to be expected as it is no longer tourist season. There were only two other guests there but the thing that stuck out about the ambiance was the TV in the background. I wouldn't normally mention it but it just stood out a little. Had the volume been lower or muted, it would have been better. Props for keeping the same decor up, and the trains, as I remember from when I was a kid. The Chowder Bowl is an institution of Depoe Bay.

Views are so pretty right on the water. We tried a ton of food and the service was quick! I recommend this place to everyone!

I just noticed two additional fees on my receipt from the Chowder Bowl. 7% for what, credit card processing? That's outrageous.

We came in during the lunch rush. The restaurant was slammed, and they appeared short staffed. I think people were getting irritated. Aaron and Sierra were working the floor. Both of them moved around and stayed upbeat and positive. I commend both of them for their attitudes and customer service. The food was good and the restaurant was clean. It is a nice meal while in Depoe Bay.

Chowder was decent. Bread bowl was pretty good, bread was kinda sweet. Our server didn't have the best attitude and the place was pretty empty.

I won't be back. Chowder was bland and the bread was stale. Service ....... I'll leave it at that!

We came in with an hour left to be open and the worker was not happy that we were there, the food was the worst I have had in 10 years!

He suggested we have a sampling taste of the soups of the day before ordering. We settled on two different cups of soup. Then ordered our entrees. One was a basic hamburger plain with just bacon. The person who ordered it said it was the best tasting burger he ever had. I ordered the bouillabaisse that had shrimp. Scallops, crab, and a wonderful piece of Halibut. The sauce was extremely tasty. Another entree sautéed oysters. Everything was outstanding. We don't stop and ordered desserts that our waiter suggested. It was just a fantastic experience.

Upon returning this year, I looked forward to another great meal there. I was surprised to find that Side Bar Cafe has changed quite a bit from what I remembered. In the past the restaurant used only the southern part of the building it's in, with maybe 16 tables, which created a warm and quiet atmosphere suitable for a date night. I was surprised to find that they have expanded to include many more tables and a second bar in the adjoining space, which was formerly rarely used, seemingly only for random entertainment events. This created a busier and noisier environment, which I didn't enjoy as much. The list of food and beverages on the menu is much greater than in that distant past. From what I could tell from one visit the food is just as good as it was, but the place felt more crowded and the service was more rushed due to the volume of guests, and the noise level was definitely higher. I will go again on my next visit to the area, but my fond expectations will have changed.

Went to celebrate a friends birthday and we had a great experience. Service was good and the food was excellent. View is outstanding. We had clams for an appetizer. Very good solid clams and tasty broth. They could serve a little more garlic toast to soak up that yummy broth. Had their Rave pasta, the wagyu tenderloin and the ling cod. All dishes were very good and would recommend. Wine prices were quite reasonable, as was the food. TR was one of my parents favorites as they visited Depot Bay a lot back in the 90-2000's. Sadly, today will be our last visit! We began the day very much looking forward to celebrating my mom with a drive (from Salem) to Depoe Bay to dine at Tidal Raves. The experience was tainted from the moment we entered the restaurant. The service and the staff's careless attitude are certainly not welcoming! Starting with the first face you see upon entering, the young man is rude and arrogant, giving off a very negative, devil-may-care, "unhappy to be here" vibe. He was especially obnoxious and rude to my 89-year-old mother, whose birthday we were sharing today. He behaved this way with every patron! There is one server who is always pleasant and attentive (the man with tattoos); unfortunately, he was not our server today. A large brunette woman, who was abrupt and offered no appropriate response to our questions or comments, was our server. Out of the 4 of us, 3 ordered a cup of salmon chowder along with full entrees; for some reason, she delivered 2 cups and 1 bowl, never returning to check in. A young man delivered our food without a word. The food was fine- nothing special, but the heavy sauces and potatoes served with the steak overwhelmed the other tastes. Our experience was marred by the lacklustre staff, which created an unpleasant overall ambience. We were not the only patrons who felt ignored; many around us had the same experience. There are now, more than ever, terrific restaurants on the Oregon Coast where we would be welcome to spend our $ 150+ on a meal. I would have left our server the minimum tip, but my mother insisted on leaving a far too generous gratuity of $26 for the most basic of service. Very sad to see one of our tried and true restaurants going the way of so many: downhill. The only redeeming quality today is, of course, the ocean view.
