During our trip to the coast, my boyfriend had planned to make a pitstop here to get some fish n' chips (what they were known for based on reviews) and it did not disappoint! We got their chicken t'sami and their lingcod fish n' chips, which went well with their sweet tea that we ordered. My boyfriend got the huckleberry sweet tea which had a sour and sweetness to it, and I got a regular sweet tea which had this really floral fragrance to it and the sweetness was just right. The fish n' chips were really good, the batter around the fish was golden and crispy, the fish was flaky and soft. So good that my boyfriend ate it while it was piping hot! The fries were perfect and crispy. The owner was so nice and brought out an aioli that tasted so good with the fries (reminded me of the animal sauce from In N' Out). The chicken t'sami was also really good, the chicken was juicy and crispy, and paired well with the pickles and slaw. The ciabatta bread was soft and everything felt so fresh. I would totally get the t'sami again. My boyfriend decided to order their clam chowder as well since that's what everyone else was raving about as well. The clam chowder did not disappoint. Saw this truck rated as a 5 star place with almost 200 reviews and immediately had to try it. They have some of the freshest, flakiest, hand caught halibut we've ever had and we will definitely be stopping here when we're near Salishan! There are restrooms right behind it, plenty of walking space and bags for walking your dog, and has ample parking. For the meal, I opted for the slaw in addition to the halibut sandwich and it was a citrusy palate-cleanser from the sweet fish. The pickled onions were perfect on a fish sandwich, I never thought of adding them before! My fiancé got the fish and rosemary fries and they were to die for, steaming hot and falling apart in flakes as you ate it, as well as perfectly salty. The simple, well executed menu stands out and is perfect for a warm, inviting destination right on Hwy. 101. I started with the clam chowder. It came out piping hot, and was creamy, flavorful, and loaded with delicious local ingredients. For my main course, I had the fish & fries. The fish had a crisp flavorful batter, so much so that I could actually see the seasoning in the batter. The fish was flaky, moist, and delicious. They offer a tasty tartar sauce, a Cajun tartar sauce, and a thick and delicious cocktail sauce. All of the dipping sauces were well seasoned, balanced, and delicious as well. I added a side of the coleslaw, as I find it hard to find good coleslaw at most restaurants, and had to try their version. This side dish was another story. It was well dressed, the cabbage was crunchy, and it had a hint of lime to give an extra little kick. My wife, who isn't a big fan of most coleslaw also thought this was delicious and well executed! Speaking of my wife, she had the chicken sandwich and it was one of the best she's had. Again, the batter on the chicken was well seasoned, the chicken was moist, the bread held up to the ingredients, but was also soft enough and easy to eat. The pickles added a touch of acidity that rounded out the flavor profile. We had the blackberry lemonade, which was delicious, and took a fresh, homemade brownie to go that was also a fantastic treat. The staff at Squatchsami were welcoming and friendly. The reviews all read "best clam chowder" in the Oregon Coast!! So I wanted to come and check it out for myself. The food truck is located in a small shopping area, which meant plenty of parking. My partner and I got 2 pieces of cod, a small cup of clam chowder, and coleslaw. We got super lucky because we got the last of the clam chowder! Mind you... this was at around noon, so the clam chowder was really selling that day. The clam chowder was indeed good, with generous portions of clam, and very filling! The fish was excellent too -- generously battered, but not over-battered to a point that you can't taste the fish anymore. The service was also great because the owners kept checking up on us to see how everything was going.
