With such glowing reviews, we just had to stop by. This food truck with a covered eating area is located in a gravel parking lot with a portable toilet in the back area. Lots of parking. The owner MOREL, ran the whole operation. Very friendly. Truck and neighboring dining area looks clean. The rockfish taco plate was neat and filled with succulent fish as the corn tortilla could hold. The avocado sauce was generous and creamy delicious. Also, the radishes were very mild. Let's talk about the creamy wild mushroom pasta. This is like a top-notch fancy mushroom cream pasta dish served at a fancy French restaurant. Just sprinkle some chopped up parsley to make it your own. Morel's morel mushroom had a bit of a bitterness to it that lent itself well with the white sauce. Sauce was not over garlicky, salty or oily/buttery. A special and delectable mushroom menagerie, a departure from the usual button shrooms. Soda served in bottles. read more

We've been driving past this food truck for years and finally gave it a try. No formal parking, just try to find a spot in the small lot in front. Nice menu of Central American staples, pastas and local fish and chips/tacos. Service was friendly and efficient. There's a room to the side of the food truck with a few tables. Prices are reasonable. The food was excellent but gave it a 4 stars mostly over personal preferences. We ordered the pupusas, chicken tamales and potato empanadas. The exterior of the pupusa was perfect but the pork and cheese inside seemed mostly lost and overwhelmed by the beans. The chicken tamale also had beans in it, very different than we're used to but added nice moisture to what can be a dry dish. The exterior of the empanada was perfect but the potatoes inside were a bit bland. read more

Morels has been our favorite little food truck on the coast since we first had their food at the farmers market. In all the years since we started visiting Newport, we had never found such good food. Everything has a homemade feeling that is sure to leave you content and comforted. The tamales are my absolute. Service is extremely speedy and friendly. The woman who works there recognized me today from a year ago. The ambiance is laidback, a little table under a tent so you can choose to stay a while or take food home. I ate at this food truck while passing through town on vacation. I found it on Yelp. Get the shrimp and gnocchi. Worth $22 all day. (It's their most expensive item on the menu.) You will not be disappointed. One of the best meals I've had in a while. Incredible unique pesto sauce. Gnocchi texture was heaven. Shrimp was good. I ate every bite. Overall 10/10 dish. I had the pupusa too. Also delish! $7 and a large portion. The hot sauce on the side with the pupusa was a little hot for my personal taste but overall was delish. Was looking for a great place for lunch having struck out on two selections that were closed. After reading the review for Morels I noticed they has ceviche so I sought them out. Well, I'm sometimes skeptical of food trucks. But I looked in this place and it is spotless. Didn't hesitate for a minute on ordering the fish ceviche and added some fried plantain. they told me it would take 10 minutes looked across the parking lot identified my vehicle and said they'd bring it to me when it was ready. This food truck is excellent! The food is high-quality elevated food. Seriously. The reason there's not a line all the way down the street is the title of the food truck. For 2 months, I thought they sold mushrooms, and then when I heard they sold food, I assumed it was all mushrooms. Nope. There are so many choices. The tamales are excellent. They have the traditional one green olive, and I hate green olives. Guess what, I just take it out. The masa is soft, and the filling is the best. The pasta and sauces rival any sit-down restaurant. Gosh, this place is good. The prices are higher than you would expect, but I think they are worth every penny. And they have specials that are always amazing. I ordered 2 tamales: 1 chicken and 1 pork. They were very delicious!! I love eating the steamed masa and there was lots of that for me. There was also a very generous portion of chunks of meat in each. I was concerned the spicy tomato sauce would be too hot for me. It wasn't. I enjoyed dipping the tamale bite into it. It was a new discovery to find a green olive cooked inside the center of each tamale. There were also several plumped, from being steamed, raisins sprinkled on top of each. I definitely recommend the tamales!! I'd order them again!! I also got a pupusa. I was too full for that but in case you don't know, like me, what a pupusa is. I was told it's a mixture of beans and cheese sandwiched in between 2 layers of tortilla then fried on a griddle. Each item was served with a pickled slaw. MORELS is a wonderful food truck. I tried the chicken tamales and they were perfectly made, ready quite quickly and I will be back to sample other offerings. I think they need to change their sign so that everyone understands they are not selling morel mushrooms. Even if they added the word "restaurant" after Morels.
