Ate here tonight, very disappointed. Our server was extremely rude. Server gets our drink order and then brings it back shortly after. Once he drops off the drinks he ask if we're ready and my husband said "not yet, can we get just a couple more minutes". I kid you not, this man literally rolled his eyes at us. At first my husband and I thought we were just crazy till we just noticed more attitude the rest of the night. A few mins later he comes back, takes our order. Me and my husband ordered the steak street tacos and after my husband was done ordering I asked him if the tacos came with a spicy sauce, I asked this because it's supposed to but some places are bad about giving it, he said "yes" but walked away before I could say anything else. For all he knows I could've been telling him I didn't want it. Few mins later he brings me a completely different sauce and just sits it on the table, couldn't even tell him that's not what I meant. We also only got three limes for all 6 of our tacos. We ran out of salsa while we were waiting on our food but he never even came back to check on us until our food was ready. Mind you, he had been near our table multiple times but made sure to never make eye contact with us or anything. When we received our food, I asked if we could have more salsa and he didn't say anything. Had no clue if we were getting more or not. He ended up bringing it surprisingly but not sure why he suddenly forgot how to speak. Lastly, like 5 mins after we received our food he brought us our check and never came to check on us again after that. He also turned off the TVs, assuming to rush us out. We arrived around 8:30, they closed at 10 pm. We got our food around 9:05. There was absolutely no reason to rush us out or treat us the way. We also were not the only ones there. We just happened to be the only ones with a rude server. All the others servers were great. Safe to say we will not be back. Not sure what his name was, but he was the only male waiter there besides the one working the host stand. If I were the owner/manager I'd have a serious word with him if I were you cause dude needs to learn some serious manners if he ever wants to get a good tip. read more

My friends and I were driving home from a day at Covered Bridge Festival when we saw La Ranchera and decided to stop in. It turned out to be a really nice experience. Although the parking lot was full we didn't have to wait and were seated immediately. The interior is larger than it looks from the outside. As soon as we sat down we were served chips and salsa, and both were very good. We ordered drinks and food, and everything was served in a timely manner. Each of us ordered a different entree, and we were all very happy with our selections. Servings were generous, in particular the burrito was HUGE! Service was attentive, our glasses were refilled promptly. Prices were very reasonable. This turned out to be just the dinner experience we needed after a full day of walking and shopping at Covered Bridge Festival. read more

Ordered carryout last evening. The service was quick and the server taking my order over the phone was friendly. I had high expectations. Arrived and the restaurant was full---another positive sign, I hoped. That was the best part of the experience. Everything else was downhill from there. We started with some Guacamole. Heavily-laded with red onion. I like onion, but this was very oniony. My wife couldn't eat it. The chips were stale. Stale chips at a Mexican restaurant??? My wife ordered the Burrito Supremo. She liked it. I didn't taste it. I had Fish Tacos. These were completely tasteless. ZERO umami. The double-wrapped (why do they do this these days?) corn tortillas were soggy and without flavor. The fish (Tilapia?---awful farm-raised fish) again, tasted like mushy nothing. I also ordered a Tamale. This was was nothing but tasteless masa and a red sauce. Could only eat two bites. Not good. Lastly, but could not even take a bite of it, was a Chile Rellenos. It looked like a bad pot pie. Seriously, worse than dog food. Right into the garbage. In conclusion, we'll never return. Mexican food can be glorious. La Ranchera doesn't even earn a D. Waste of money. Go elsewhere, although in Danville, the only other Mexican restaurant is Los Patios and it's just as bad. read more

What a disappointment. Ordered chile Colorado, which is supposed to be beef simmered in a red sauce. It was just their beef fajitas barely covered in that sauce. Tortillas were hard and over done. Came here for lunch... ordered the lunch "fajita". Every mexican place I have ever been to my fajita has been beautifully placed on an iron skillet and served steaming. This particular restaurant brings me a microwaved pile of meat just on the plate and says only the dinner fajita comes fresh on a hot skillet. Wow.. read more

I hadn't been here in a couple of years, so a friend and I decided to try it out again. They have really done a lot of updates to make the inside much nicer with a bigger feel. We decided to split the fajitas with shrimp, chicken, and steak. We've been comparing fajitas at several Mexican restaurants, and the ones here are definitely our favorite. They seem to have a little more seasoning than other places do, and they were very good. The salsa here has a bit more kick than some others, and was good as well. You can literally make any request to change any platter to your like and they will not think about it, they just simply do it to make sure that you're satisfied with your experience. Came to visit my wife's family, for m from the west coast so when it comes to Mexican restaurants I know , this place was great!!! Food was delicious any adjustment you needed to the food they will do for you!! Example make certain dishes less spicy . You get my point. Food came reasonably fast. La Ranchera is a staple in the Danville community. These clowns giving less than 5 stars are twits; self-proclaimed food critics. You want authentic enchiladas made with flour tortillas?! Bonehead. That's not traditional enchiladas. You're asking the chef to alter their standards for your desire to eat a flour tortilla. There's a Taco Bell across town...maybe that might suit your palate. Don't give poor reviews based on your limited culinary tastes. And for the record: definitely try the enchiladas de mole...absolutely delicious. You know what? This place was pretty good. On out of the way MExican spot in Danville, but it had some good chips, good salsa, FANTASTIC queso bean dip (seriously, get it.) My wife had the three amigos taco deal and her chicken, pork, and steak were all high quality chunks, not shredded and covered in gunk to hide the quality. My prok burritos were really good, with beer marinated pork. Prices are great. A perfect quick lunch spot. read more

The service was awful in spite of the fact that the restaurant wasn't even packed, which for a Saturday night should tell you something about where the quality of this restaurant has been going. We did not get a single drink refill or even an offer for a drink refill. Boy, I just love paying restaurant prices for soda and then not even getting a single refill. On the food side, the chimichangas I ordered were ok, but they were pretty skimpy on the sour cream, but that's just a personal opinion. So I ordered an extra side of sour cream. When I got it, however, it tasted like someone had accidentally knocked an entire salt-shaker into it. Imagine you just polished off a bag of Chipotle chips, and you dump all of the remaining salt in the bag right in your mouth - it was like that, but achieved with a dollop smaller than the tip of your pinky. Every taste was like saturating the entire inside of your mouth with salt. Not what you want when sour cream is usually used to offset really salty things in the first place. Now, this was probably an accident or a one-off thing, because the sour cream that was on the chimichangas I ordered was fine. So literally all I wanted was just a side that wasn't bad. And unfortunately, I had to wait a good 15 minutes before I could even inform the waiter (who still didn't offer to refill our drinks) that there was a problem with my food, who then told me NO, and started to argue about the sour cream. Pretty sure I know what sour cream tastes like, pretty sure it doesn't have more salt in it than a McD's burger patty. When I continued to insist that it did, in fact, have a ton of salt in it, the waiter says it's the kitchen's fault, not his, and I'm just like - YES, I know it's the kitchen's fault, all I wanted was for you to go back and let the kitchen know that it tastes bad, because that's an important part of your job, because if something is actually wrong with the food, if something is in the food that isn't supposed to be there, something that could be an allergen, or astronomical amounts of salt that ruin a meal, the kitchen needs to need to know so that they don't then serve it to other customers which may end up losing you even more business, the ones who may not directly complain but simply aren't impressed enough with the food or service to bother coming back. Has this waiter even been trained? This is business 101. They certainly don't need you to start an argument with the customer and for some bizarre reason insist that it's not your fault, when literally no one was accusing you of doing anything in the first place. That's just what you're supposed to do as a waiter. Just say "Yes sir, I'll go ask the kitchen what happened to the sour cream" and you find out what's up. Problem solved without starting an argument with the customer and turning your 20% tip into a 10% tip. So, the waiter tells me he's going to bring the manager, because I guess service really isn't his strong suit and replacing sour cream is too difficult to accomplish on his own, and the lady who comes and talks with me - get ready for this - tells me that she's the CASHIER. This dude told me he was going to bring the manager and brings a cashier. Are your customers a joke to you, La Ranchera? Because that's absolutely unacceptable. The cashier, who was actually a very nice woman, THEN had to get the manager for me. By that point, the 10% tip was standing at a solid 0%, and I was done. I'm not the type to ask for a comp'd meal, and in fact, had only asked to have the sour cream removed from the bill because it was actually inedible, but no compensation was offered, not even a dessert was offered as a courtesy. Apparently the manager is just as inept at customer service as the waiter, which is probably why she hired such a terrible waiter in the first place. So finally, I have to ask - Why is the chef not tasting separate portions of what he's cooking/preparing before sending it out of the kitchen? Have they even been trained? At the end of the night, I left with my mouth tasting saltier than the Pacific, and with unrefilled drinks, and I absolutely will not be back unless they get a change in management or service, because there is currently a fundamental lack of both. The extra drive to Avon or even Greencastle to other restaurants is worth it. read more

Even though I notified them of water on the floor, no safety warnings in bathroom or attempt to clean up. The other Mexican food restaurant in Danville is better and worth the extra 5 minutes to get there. Even though some posts suggest remodel is finished, that is incorrect. The worst mexican food we have ever had!..There was actually water pooled on my plate. Seemed as though they went to the dollar store next to them for chips....salsa & beans also watered down & tasted like ketchup was used...Will never step foot in this place again....my daughter...spouse and myself left feeling like our stomachs were upset by how the food looked & tasted...NOTHING was homemade. We really like the guacamole. They finally finished the remodel and it looks 10x better. It was dingy and old fashioned before but it looks good on the inside now and they added additional dining space indoors and outside.
