Holy sandwiches!!! I can't believe it took me this long to check out Carmine Lornard's. I brought…read moremy Italian dad and mom for sandwiches at noon for lunch. Coming from an Italian family, I am well versed in Italian sandwiches. Carmine Lornardo's the real deal! We ordered the 24" Carmine Italian. Every bite was as good as the last. My dad struck up a conversation with Carmine, who was working behind the counter as he does every day, just as his dad (according to him). We sat down at one of the 4 tables to enjoy our sandwich which was pre split for us. As we were finishing up and the lunch crowd was slowing a bit but was still steady, when Carmine stopped at our table to chat with my dad. He told us an amazing story of how their sausage and pepper sandwich was featured in Food & Wine magazine and how he found Put about it. A true Italian man living in his owned world, he was not familiar with the magazine. But that put them on the food seen. He then brought my dad his famous sausage and pepper sandwich, on the house! We came back later that week and ordered pasta with sausage and sauce for dinner which he provided as part of their dinner to go series. If I lived closer, I would never be cooking, I would just be at Carmine's for lunch and dinner! Don't sleep on this authentic Italian restaurant with old world charm.

We were on our way up to red rock and wanted to grab some lunch for the tailgate. We ordered the French dip and the special #5 cutlet sandwich as well as Mac salad and black and white cookie. The sandwiches are expensive but big. The French dip was $13.99 and the special was $18.99 for an 8in. Our meal ended up being around $60 for two sandwiches, a Mac salad, chips and two pastries. The mac salad was very good and tasty but the sandwiches were a total disappointment. The French dip lacked ANY flavor even a bit of salt would've gone a long way. When we dipped it in the au jus, it still lacked any flavor. We ended up only taking a few bites then tossing it and moving onto the #5. Both sandwiches were incredibly soggy and we maybe ate them 20 minutes after getting them. Taste was decent with the cutlet sandwich but oh my heartburn. We both had heartburn the entire duration of the concert. Just a disappointing experience after spending so much money.

I think Tony's is great, although it is not without its flaws, as some have noted here. They are a…read moresmall, independent Market primarily focused on butchering and other proteins. As such, you get great cuts of meat, house-made sausages, bacon, pre-made meals, and roasts, etc. This fish selection is strong, and they have an excellent deli. That said, given they are a small independent shop, you will pay more for some staples, and you will pay more for higher quality items; you won't have the same selection of produce as a 60,000 sqft grocery chain. All of this, though, is fairly obvious when you walk in. Tony's is focused on quality over quantity.

I'm used to this store being open early (8 am) so this morning, when I walked in at 8:30 and I was kind of in my own head thinking about what kind of nice steaks I would like to buy for my son's birthday, I was abruptly yelled at and told to go away because the store was not open. It was so shocking and so rude. I thought the person was joking. I said you're joking right and she goes, "No, I'm not joking! We're closed! " Even though the doors were wide open, I guess they were open for employees coming in. I was ready to spend several hundred dollars, but instead I walked to my car and placed an online order from Snake River Farms. I got $25 off and two day delivery so I'm thrilled. It might be a while until I go back to Tonys. It's OK that the store was closed. I just wish the employee had used better tact.

As well as locally sourced milk and creamer cooler (you can return the glass bottle for some money back) , ice creams, pots of soups they make in-house, and lots of to-go type meal boxes. It's fun to look at some of the random imported goods. And funky flavored potato chips you'll never find in a big grocery store chain. The little connected wine shop is a must! They have quite a few bottles on display, and several are reasonably priced. The person working is always there to help you choose if you need it. The biggest drawback is the price, which it is very pricey here, but it just goes with the vibe. This isn't a chain! So, it's more for small-scale shopping or specialty shopping. And one other con I'd say is their very limited hours of operation. It was tough for me if I wanted to stop here during the week before or after work, because they open late in the morning when I'm usually already at work and close early in the p.m. when I haven't yet left work. So, I couldn't always get there! I wonder why they aren't open a bit more, but I can only guess they must do so well that they don't need it! It's an especially festive time to come shop here during the holidays, if you are looking for consumable gifts. I'm glad to have it in the neighborhood!
