We got bean and cheese burrito no taste no sauce no nothing - go to Taco Bell instead- I couldn't even find meat and when I did tasted gross no flavor like just plains cooked pork unseasoned. Was on the hunt for enchiladas and found this place nearby. If it wasn't for Yelp I would've never found it because it's hidden in the back corner of a small strip mall behind a gas station. They have plenty of seating and are open for dine in a rare find during COVID!!! The salsa bar has a sign advising that it is closed and to ask for chips and salsa from the counter. Me and my wife have been coming to this place once or twice a month on Saturdays for the Menudo and fresh made corn tortillas for over 5 years. Well this week I decided to stop by during my lunch and I order Carne Asada plate. The meat was so old that I could tell it was recooked and it was full of nerves or tendons that I cannot even chew it, I had to spit it out. The knife couldn't even cut it because of all the tendons that I had to rip a piece apart to try to eat it. It was so chewy that I got frustrated and I just got up and left. I did not even complain. But the lady the owner i know she noticed me getting up 2 minutes after receiving my order. Like how are you in the restaurant business and trying to run a restaurant and offer the cheapest quality meat and ingredients for a high price. I don't mind paying for anything, but don't try to hustle me with cheap quality meat. Just because of that, I would not be coming to this place ever again. Everything makes sense why there's hardly ever customers during lunch time. I will not recommend this place to anyone and I don't think they'll be in business that long serving cheap quality for high prices. read more

This was our favorite Mexican Restaurant in Manteca until it closed a few months ago. It has since opened under NEW ownership about 2 weeks ago. After 2 visits here is my initial review. They have a slightly different menu. The lady that makes the fresh tortillas is still there. Well there added Pollo con Mole to their menu. Choice of either Red or or Green. As someone who has loved "good" Mole, like from Puebla, Mex., I had to give it a try. This was by far the best I found in NorCal. It was so good I had to have it on my 2nd visit. The murals, tables and chairs are from the prior owner. They have a new soda machine and the salsa bar is slightly different. The salsa de Nopales has returned. The place is definitely much cleaner. Hopefully they will generate more customers once the word gets out. When my wife returns from SoCal we will go again. read more

(Giant burrito with enchilada sauce; get grilled vs shredded chicken), molcajete, quesadilla, tampiqueña. The best part honestly is the salsa bar. I love that they have 4-5 different salsas, 2 types of grilled peppers (Hot), onions, cucumbers, jalapeños, limes, nopales and this kick ass cabbage salsa/salad (if you love pickled cabbage this is for you). When I got the tacos, the carne asada looked like sisig to me but it was good. 2 bites and my mouth was on fire, like literally. I don't remember asking for hot sauce on it? I wish I could give more stars, because the food here is pretty good...the problem is, the staff that has recently taken over and the inconsistent hours of operation. Last night was my last straw with this place. We will not be back. The hours listed say open until 10pm every night. Now, I get sometimes things happen and you close early, fine. But lately, we walk in around 7pm (dinner time), and the girls have all the chairs moved and are pledging the floors, and then announce "to go orders only!". Okie dokie. So we do to go orders. Last night however, was ridiculous. We walked in at 7pm, 5 tables were full of people sitting and eating, a waitress was currently bringing food to a table. The girl behind the counter then says "to go orders only! we close at 8!" How does that make any sense? If you don't want to work and serve food, at dinner time, in a restaurant, maybe you should get a different job. All they are doing is losing customers and revenue. read more

We ordered two containers of Pozole and fixings to go last Sunday. The short haired counter gal could barely speak English.The tables were dirty and had many used plates, beer bottles and garbage strewn about with food stuff still on them. No waitress was visible.The salsa bar had visible flies buzzing around. The Pozole was ICE cold and had to be boiled to eat. There were larger than normal bones and shards of bones in the soup container. After fishing them out, boiling the soup - the soup was edible but we had lost our appetite. I called to tell them about the cold soups and all the gal said was SORRY and hung up. Since we had eaten there- inside- numerous times before, it was strange.The service has never been THAT bad, and the soup never THAT cold. I would NOT recommend ANY food to go from here AT ALL. This place is a blend of a hole in the wall taco shop & a nice sit down Mexican restaurant. The prices are a blend of the two as well. I have been here a handful of times. I enjoy the taco salad but it's huge so I can never eat the whole thing. I like their salsa bar & I always want more chips in the basket & for .50c you can get more chips which is a deal I can't pass up. Their tostadas are huge & one of those with chips fills me right up!
