I put in an order 3 weeks for a cake and paid half. I needed it for a Saturday so that Monday, I call them to check on it. They tell me that they wont start it until Friday since I will pick it up Saturday. Since I trust NO ONE - I call them back on Wednesday TO MAKE SURE THIS WILL GET DONE. They tell me the same thing. The pick up time for this was on that Sat at noon. So at 11am, I stopped by to check on the status - they say it will not be done until noon. I pop up again at 11:50 and the cake is NOT ready. I lost it on them!!!!!!!!! The lady in charge said it would now be ready at 12:30. I asked her why should I believe her? She said it would be. I go at 12:25 and it was ready. I told them that I would NEVER buy from them again. I placed an order, paid half, had a receipt, called to check on this prior to the pick up time AND STILL they failed. I would never go there again. The customer service here at la pinata bakery is atrocious. I paid for a cake to be made fresh for my sons graduation and it tasted terrible. I picked it up the night before graduation and put it in the refrigerator. Then next day we try the cake and it tasted both dry and old. We could not even eat the cake with a large serving of ice cream . We return to the store for a full refund and they refused stating that "if you do not like the cake, do not order from here again" A bakery needs to ensure that each cake is both fresh and moist. A while back I wanted to order a simple ninja turtle head cake 8 inch I believe nothing crazy not even filling they wanted $200+. I mean for less than $40 I got a huge cake for 20+ people with filling and a bunch of cake crap from Stew Leonard's just as good. But to each his own. read more

I went here and ordered a few cookies and a cake. It was mediocre at best. This is not the reason for the low ratings. The service is by far the worst i have experienced. I was behind a "non minority" and they were doing a song and dance for them. I felt bad because they were so rude to them. But when it was my turn i greet them with a good morning and i get no reply. Just a "what do ypu want". I figure hey they upset so ill ignore the rudeness. Half way into my order the group comes back and she completely ignores me and tends to them. I ordered a yellow cake with butter cream filling for my son's 9th birthday party. The cake was terrible. It was dry, light and fresh. The cake tasted like dry sponge. No one at the party ate the cake. It was embarrassing. My husband said the cake tasted like paper. I brought the rest of it home and put it in the fridge. No one in my house attempted to eat another slice. This bakery was recommended to me by a coworker. I had high hopes of eating a nice slice of cake. What a disappointment! I will pick up a cake in Costco next time. I honestly think they pasted the picture on the wrong cake. Probably this cake was baked for a diabetic person. Had a horrible experience here. Ordered a cake for my son's second birthday. Emailed them pictures of what I wanted, called for a timeframe, and provided a card for deposit about 5 days before pickup. I gave them my mobile number and they had my email address from when I emailed them. When they tried to process the card, it wouldn't work (later found out she wrote down the wrong exp date). They claimed they called me ONCE on my WORK LINE to let me know that it didn't work. That was the ONLY effort they made. When I arrived to pick up the cake for my son's party they informed me that they never made the cake. WTF?!?!?!?! They had no answer for why they didn't try to call my mobile or email me and they ruined my son's birthday because he had NO cake. Had they given the situation 5 more minutes by emailing me or trying the other number I gave them I would have been able to deal with the cars issue in no time. Instead they chose to be absolutely unconscionable, unprofessional, and useless. I will never use them again. Worst service ever! read more

All cakes and bread are delicious. whoever complaints about la piñata needs to more about mexican flavors and quality of service. Highly recommended. I would give zero stars if I could. I recently planned a baby shower and went to La Pinata for the cake. I ordered a very simple cake: 2 tiered cake with off white or ivory fondant. I ordered the cake on Monday ( and had to deal with an unknowledgeable young woman who kept pushing me to add writing and decoration and kept showing me pictures of other things when I told her I knew exactly what I wanted. Wasted a ton of time debating with her). On MONDAY when I ordered the cake I was told the cake could be picked up from 11-12pm that Saturday. When I called Saturday late morning/afternoon to ask for my cake, the person who answered the phone had no idea what I was talking about. She asked me what writing was on the cake ( my cake had no writing) and kept asking my name repeatedly. She finally told me that there was nothing with my name on it. Are you kidding me? I have an event with 70 people and you don't have the cake I ordered??? I walked into the bakery and no one greeting me. I had to call someone over to speak to them. When I told the girl what I was just told about the cake I ordered, she went into the back and said the cake would be 15 to 20 minutes more. Now, remember that this cake was supposed to be able to be picked up from 11-12pm. It was well past 12. 12:41 actually. It seemed as though they completely forgotten our cake and was now going to throw it together quickly. By 1pm our cake still was not ready and when we asked for a discount because we were losing time and money because they have no idea how to properly run their business, we were told no. No apology. Nothing. When the cake finally came out at almost 1:30 ( for those following along, that's 2 and a half hours after the time I was supposed to be walking out with a cake in my hands). When the cake finally came out, it looked thrown together. The fondant was dented and had nail imprint from fingernails being pressed into it. And... The cake was the WRONG COLOR!!!!!! The off white/ivory cake we ordered was now a dusty rose or a pink color. When these things were brought to the attention of the staff, the man who brought it out just walked away. If we were not honest people we could have walked out with the cake. That's how ignored we were. They finally came out to take our money and we had to explain again that there was an issue. We again asked for a discount. The girl told us that "he" said "he" can take off $25 and that's it. Still no apology. I have to say that this was the most awful experience I've ever had with them. I am appalled by the unprofessionalism, the lack of decency, the lack of proper customer service, and the total lack of respect. If an order is going to be late, have the decency to call the customer, be apologetic, and definitely offer a discount considering that you are causing the customer time and money. It is safe to say that I will NEVER patronize that business again. They are terrible and I cannot stress enough how disappointed and disgusted I am with them. If you want a good cake and you want to be treated like a human being by the ones who are involved in making it, go somewhere else. read more
