As you can see from my previous review the business owner reached out to me to "explain" their-self and I am left with even more questions. When any person goes to order a tres leche cake they will never be expecting a dry cake. Completely unheard of. Furthermore if the option was to order a dryer cake or saturated cake, why was that option not told to me when I placed the order? This is news to me. As I can see from previous responses from this business owner they are VERY confrontational which is just unfortunate. Lovely experience! Stopped by to shop birthday cakes and was torn between the tiramisu and tres leches. Put in an order for the tiramisu and took home a slice of both cakes to try. Decided the passion fruit tres leches was the clear winner and without any issue over a brief phone call they updated the order. The older lady who works here is consistently rude. Every time I visit, she gives me an attitude and responds in a very unpleasant way when asked for help. It makes the experience uncomfortable and unwelcoming. On top of that, many of the items they sell are noticeably overpriced. Unfortunately, this has made me reconsider coming back. read more

Unfortunate experience. I have two friends that rave about this bakery and have bought multiple cakes from here for birthdays, showers, all the events so I thought I would check it out for my baby shower. I sent two Instagram DMs and called multiple times with no luck getting an answer on either so I showed up in person. I spoke to the first woman out front who couldn't help me and went and got another woman from the back. I saw the sign that says an 8in cakes is about $50 + tax etc which I thought was a fair price. I shared that I'm having my baby shower in two weeks and just wanted a simple 10in cake with blue outside, could be buttercream or other and I was then quoted $150. The image I showed the woman did have clouds but I said I could do without and just wanted a cost estimate for something simple. I even used Google translate on my cell and spoke the bit of Spanish I could and she still gave me the same answer. I wanted to understand what types of flavors, frosting etc were available and did not get that information or any opportunity to customize or work within the price. I mean 8in to 10in and $100 difference? And she didn't say anything aside then having tres leche? Mind you, hey have wedding cake displays and others in the shop. Very odd so I just walked out. It was a frustrating experience and unfortunately I did not buy anything. I've tasted the cakes from here which have been good but this terrible customer service experience makes me never want to come back. So proceed at your own caution and hopefully you're not as frustrated as I am when you leave. Wish I could have left them a better review for trying to work with me or caring about my business to their local bakery, just felt uncomfortable. I ordered a cake last Thursday 10/30. I ordered a Tres Leches with peaches only. I gave her my name. I told her I'll pick it up Sunday at noon. Sunday came at noon went in gave my name. The girl behind the counter is very rude and nasty. I have been going to this bakery for years and I have recommended them to family and friends. There's no parking in the front of the bakery. You have to park around the corner at a meter. I didn't have quarters. I quickly ran in to see if I can get quarters as White plains is very fast on writing up a ticket. There's nobody behind the counter. There was a couple who was waiting in front of me so I asked them if they had any quarters. They were nice enough to check but they didn't . Still nobody in sight. I noticed a tip container by the register. I look inside to see if there were any quarters in there. I put in a dollar to take 4 quarters and this girl finally comes to the front from the back. She yells at me saying "that's a tip jar. Don't put your hand in our tip jar.". I said I didn't want to get a ticket and no one was here so I put a dollar in and took 4 quarters. She repeats the same thing saying "don't put your hand in our tip jar". They do not appreciate your business. You don't need to be spoken to like this to spend your money. I haven't posted a review in months but thanks to this bakery i've decided to finally post one and not for any good reason. I spent 300$ on a cake for a 16th birthday and was left in disbelief at the service at this bakery. The cake was supposed to be picked up at 11 on sunday. Rember this time as it is very important! I arrive at the bakery at 11 and the cake has not been made yet, also might i add i ordered in a WEEK in advanced, the bakery then fights with me saying i told them to delivery it at 2 which is not true and gaslighting a customer is insane! anyways i decide to hold my breathe and wait for them to delivery the cake which surprise, surprise NEVER happens!! i call the bakery close to 3 and they tell me the cake is still not ready yet and decide to hang up on me and not pick up any of my calls! Very professional behavior! I drive to the bakery as they were too cowardly to pick up any of my calls and they tell me that the cake was destroyed as they dropped it and proceeded to not tell me this earlier in the day and proceed to lie and say that "it's all okay" and they made a new cake for me, they then give me my poorly made cake in a flimsy box that in no possible world can hold a two tier cake but anyways as i'm driving the cake collapses in the box and is destroyed, so thank you guys for nothing and i truly appreciate you lying to your customers! i do not recommend this terrible bakery to anyone! read more

I've been wanting to stop by this unassuming little spot just based on the name. I love saying it over and over. COCO CHOCO COCO CHOCO COCO CHOCO. You get the picture. Once I got inside, I knew exactly what I wanted. I was staring at the chocolate raspberry tart through the windows while I had been waiting and immediately made my choice when I entered. The girl working (possibly the owner) was incredibly lovely and seemed to take pride in her job and products. From what I gathered, this place seems like a Mexican bakery, but there's a lot here! Like a whole lot! Not just well-made sweets but also baked foods like empanadas. So how was that chocolate tart? I was surprised that it cost $32, but it was most definitely worth it because it was soooo rich and INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS!!!! Definitely the birthday treat I was looking for! Would I return? Without a doubt! I feel like I need to try the foods and some of the more unfamiliar (to me) Mexican sweets. The girl made me feel welcomed and available to answer questions I may have. I could've gone to Tous Le Jours or City Limits for their mouthwatering goodies; but I came here instead, to change things up a little and grab a few basic cookies, for my Mom- and truthfully, to see what Coco Choco is all about. I can't comment on taste (of their cakes), yet visually, every single slice or whole cakes, looked real nice- especially their Chocolate layered piece or one cake that had a hefty piece of Mango slices on it. However, the cookies I purchased and a croissant-looking pastry filled with caramelo, were good. Carlos was very friendly and super welcoming and even gave me a sample of 'Quinoa' (a Peruvian beverage, prepared with quinoa, some sweetness and pineapple juice or chunk fruit(?). So here's the lowdown, no Valrhona chocolate here or that rich Mousse that I enjoy from my favorite restaurant in White Plains. But what you're getting at Coco Choco is, a Peruvian-owned Bakery, preparing Latin pastries (on the premises) with Latin ingredients such as their Alfajores (two cookies sandwich with caramel), croissant-type pastries, filled with caramel or, their "Italian" style cookies. I ordered a Strawberry whipped cream cake for an important family celebration. Wow!! The cake was delicious, moist texture, perfect amount of sweet, luscious whipped cream. Everyone loved it, even the "I'm not a dessert person, crowd" We also served Sarah Bernhardts, which are indescribable tiny cakes, which need to be tasted to be truly appreciated. The staff was helpful and cheerful, special shout out to Vanessa. I hope they decide to put in a couple of cafe tables for the in house coffee experience. I've heard of Coco Choco bakery thru a friend who had ordered a cake for his daughter's bday. We like the taste (and the price) so for my daughter's birthday we ordered a cake a week ahead. Then the day came for the cake to pickup. We are supposed to pickup the cake by 12:00, when I dropped by at 12:30 the cake is not ready yet. The lady told me to wait for another 20 minutes to which I did. Waiting in my car, I waited for another extra 10 minutes and went back in by 1pm. The cake still not ready. It took another 20 minutes for them to finish the design. My daughter's party starts at 1:30p and of course we arrived at the venue a bit late and most of our guests are already their. Now, I am not going to give 1 star because of the unpreparedness of their part. I will be fair because the cake presentation is nice and the cake taste good. The staffs were nice as well and they sell good stuffs. Lesson learn on my part is to maybe pick up the cake hours ahead of scheduled. read more

I recently waited until the last min to find a birthday cake for my grandmother. After a quick Google search I came across Coco. Inside is nice, and it was packed with baked goods (no bare shelves in here). I opted for a strawberry shortcake (birthday girls choice). I must say it did not have the best look to it, it looked more like homemade. The writing they put on top also had a homemade feel to it, not refined like most bake shops. I will however say that the taste made up for the plain exterior. Cake was delicious and full of flavor. Both the filling and the icing were just sweet enough for everyone's liking. Even though the taste was on point I must say I was taken back by the price... A 8" strawberry shortcake set me back $27.09. I honestly feel that is very expensive for such a simple cake. This is a hidden gem. I actually found it by accident a few years ago. I had passed it several times and decided to go in one day. I found something that I love- traditional FLAN. Theirs is delicious! The staff is so friendly, and I have tried so many things now, and have not been disappointed. I also love their mini almond biscotti.
