Instead of waisting your time to try to find excuses to cover up your poor and unsanitary establishment practices, you should put that same effort and time into actually making it a pleasurable experience for your customers as it does have potential to be a great place. Well I had some of the pastries from the iron tomato in the past , we were in the area so we thought we would try there sandwiches. The meat was boars head . Note that their roast beef was home cooked which was excellent. Sandwich's we're avg for the area . They had pre made pizza that looked dry and stale . On the other side of the area they have a women making fresh salad with the ingredients that you pick . The pastries were a bit on the dry side , I guess I pick these a few pastries that were a few days old . They give you a five percent discount with the Yelp check in but when I showed the cashier the discount coupon he acted like he didn't know anything about it and read the whole coupon before giving me a discount. My family and I walked the two blocks to The Iron Tomato and walked out happy we made the decision. Waling in the place can seem a little confusing but don't worry, someone will quickly point you in the right direction. The restaurant is divided into different areas, pastries, lunch, hot foods, breakfast, etc. Again, don't worry, the staff is awesome and will tell you what you need to know. I had been meaning to try Iron Tomato for a while now. When I first started exploring the Mamaroneck Ave strip, it was one of the first businesses that stood out to me - mainly because of its poppin' sign and all the goodies I saw when looking through the window. Today I was looking for lunch and thought it was the perfect opportunity to explore the Tomato. Iron Tomato is way more than what I had initially thought. I was kind of thinking this was a quick-stop deli-ish place with some baked goods, but in actuality the Tomato is quite large. Not only do they have a deli section, but also a bakery, sushi station, and salad station - as well as a number of boxed sandwiches, desserts, and quick snacks. They also do catering, and have a good amount of indoor seating plus more outside. Since I was in the mood for a sandwich, I headed towards the deli section in the back. There was a little bit of a line but there were a number of people working behind the counter so the line moved quickly. They have a number of paninis, salads, and wraps to choose from - I decided to go with the smoked turkey wrap. In addition to the turkey, the wrap had lettuce, crumbled feta, mayo, roasted peppers, and romaine lettuce. The wrap was good - it was a healthy size and the ingredients definitely complemented each other, though I personally didn't think the mayo was necessary; swapping it out for something a little more exotic would probably bring the wrap to another level. Service was very good - the staff was on top of it, I got my wrap quickly and was rung out promptly. I think I only scratched the surface of what Iron Tomato has to offer, but after today I look forward to returning to explore more of what they have to offer. read more

Simply the best chopped salad bar in White Plains. Nothing compares my big problem is there hours they close at 4 o'clock in the afternoon every day they used to be open for supper now their hours are very inconvenient for me. If they have better hours, they would get five stars, as along with the salads bar their deli sandwiches are also in the best in White Plains, shame on their hours. A great market in White Plains with a super impressive bakery that would make the cookie monster go bananas. So this is a small Italian market with a seating area to go and enjoy those delicious baked goods/pizzas/sandwiches and salads. They have prepared salads and even a create your own salad bar (priced at per lb). I went with the gluten free pizza and at $9 was delicious and perfectly slzed. Didn't mess with their sandwiches or panini's, but was reminiscent of that Wall St. deli that literally has everything. Did I mention their extensive bakery? Nice place to have a good lunch, is place is pretty big to be only a delis they have good bakeries, a pizza spot with Italian specialties and a great salad bar. Sandwiches and wraps are awesome and the variety is nothing short of awesome. The taste is very amazing. The salad is very fresh and they charge by the pound, where you also can add fried chicken or grill chicken and shrimps. What can I say about the bakery? The words will not be enough to describe the great that they bake their cake, cookies and pastry. I can't think of anything bad to say about this place. Went to Iron Tomato today to get soup while I was not feeling well. I've ordered their sandwiches and other things before, but I had never actually been in there until today. The employees were BEYOND friendly; they absolutely exceeded my expectations. I interacted with at least 6 different employees and every single one was so kind and had an amazing attitude. The employees were so accommodating and patient with their customers. The gentleman at the pizza counter gave me a generous piece of bread on the house-- which was beyond delicious and perfectly cooked. The same gentleman went out of his way to carry my hot food to the pay counter so I wouldn't burn myself. Had I had cash on me, I would have put money in his and the other employee's tip jars... but I definitely will make it a point to when I go there soon. Being as I was not feeling well and couldn't taste any of my own food at home, the chicken noodle soup I bought from Iron Tomato was literally the best I've ever had. I got generous amounts of both pasta, chicken (large, delicious chunks) and vegetables. When I asked if I could have extra crackers, the employee was so kind and very generous with the amount he gave me, and he didn't make me feel bad for asking like some restaurants do. I also ordered their rice balls, which were equivalently delicious. Their selection is huge and from what I've tried, everything in there is extremely delicious. I've never written a YELP review before and delayed writing this one, but I feel this is necessary. I ordered an 8-inch cake, chocolate with cannoli filling 2 weeks in advance. The pickup was smooth. Later that evening when it's time to cut the cake, we see a yellow cake with cannoli filling. Not what was ordered. What's the recourse for that? There's nothing you can do at that point. Hours are too short now, food quality has gone down, while prices have gone up. All that can be excused, except they lie about their prices. The cashier told me my total was $17.87, and I was charged $18.58. I'm glad I asked for my receipt as it states on it a non-cash adjustment. If you're now going to charge more for those paying with credit cards than cash, you need to be explicit about it and not underhanded, especially since this was never done in the past and there was no signage anywhere stating that this was a practice. I'm glad my patronage of this store has waned in recent years and I doubt I'll be back any time soon.
