I have been several times to La Perla Restaurant. The food never disappoints anyone. This is a Peruvian as it gets. I will point out a few things to provide an idea of my experiences. They get five stars with me due to taste, variety, and seeing the take their establishment to a new level over the years. This is my in-laws favorite Peruvian food. Every time I eat/order from them it reminds me of them since they are in love with their cuisine. I like their taste, service sizes and I get the local experience with their servers. I love being served by an Expert in their category. You learn as they explain the dishes, that's an experience. I have compared them with others and their lomo salteado is the most generous of them all. My last mind-blowing dish was "Pulpo al Grill" (grilled octopus) This was unreal and a must repeat. Be careful, the dish was 21.95 but worth every penny in my opinion. I was even surprise of the kids chicken strips that were a good brand that I get in Costco many times. I love eating here. You will see their traffic for take out, they have a room on the right side just to handle that side of the business. It's heavy traffic. Too bad that I live far from here. But I have gone out of my way to order from them for a couple of occasions. Sometimes you have to go the extra mile to ensure your food goes right for the special event. Wanna guess? My in-laws bday lol. Only one thing negative to point out. You get the smell of sea food as soon as you walk in. I'm not sure if this is on purpose of lack of extractor for lack of a better word. Unfortunately ever since that restaurant was transfer to a new owner the food a is not the same. Its been 3 time that I ordered the pollo a la braza and the chicken is dry ( overcooked )and old; the fries are also too thin its like you are eating potato sticks. I hope they change the way they're cooking or this place wont last. read more

Upon arrival, we were pleasantly greeted and directed to sit wherever we pleased. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and very helpful. The prices, quite reasonable. The menu was partially written in English and partially in Spanish. Most of the menu items were not recognizable to me, but I located Yelp pictures for this establishment, and with my waiter's help, I quickly decided on a delicious meal. Finally made it here and heard from a friend of mine at this place was delicious and she was not lying after a very stormy beginning with the weather wise my friend and I read it there we were greeted promptly and seated and had the cancha come out with a spicy green sauce then I ordered a glass of sangria and my friend just had water and we ordered the fried calamari appetizer delicious fresh very lightly fried incredible and it came with some fried yucca that I ordered the chaufa with seafood and she ordered the lomo Saltado . For dessert to go got my fave suspira and had a cordito there . Took 1/2 of food to go since very full . Our waitress Vicky rocked she was the best ! First time here and surely will not be my last ! I I even bought along with the title for my mom and my son ate half the calamari plus chicken and there are all very happy. Next time going to try the ceviche and green spaghetti. We decided to give it a try and are happy to report that they have earned our business over and over again. The lomo saltado is not only delicious, but the portions are large enough to share. The food is always fresh and hot. They stick to their estimated pick up times when you call. Good food, and what they lack in ambiance and presentation they more than make up for in the warm, family-like friendliness of the staff. While not "worth your drive" good, especially nowadays the bar for Peruvian food is getting higher, if you are in the neighborhood, this is a solid choice. We've tried most of the dishes, our favorites include: the mussels loaded with tomato, onions and more, the green spaghetti (you can get it with fish instead of steak if you like), jalea mixto, chupa de camarones and the grilled beef heart. Tucked away in a mall on 152 street is this amazing little restaurant. From the moment you enter you feel at home. The rolls are brought to the table piping hit with the most fabulous green sauce for dipping. The aji de gallina is shredded chicken in most flavorful, creamy sauce that admittedly I used the aforementioned rolls to sop up upon completion. Served with potatoes and rice- I planned not to eat the rice but ended up using it to sop up the sauce as well. I only wish I had more rolls. Susprio de limena for dessert. Literal translation means woman's sigh and after tasting it, it's a perfect name. I expected little since it appeared premade and mass packed but it was outstanding. If licking the cup were socially acceptable and I could have gotten away with it without mortifying my companion, I do think I would have done it. Lomo soltado was a nice portion. The meat was tender the fries were crisp enough to absorb the sauce without getting overly soggy. Again served with rice that was not particularly necessary but was perfect for absorbing the extra sauce. My companion ordered rotisserie chicken fro the fast casual restaurant which shares a wall and apparently contributes to this menu. The chicken was moist and juicy and came with a choice if two sides. The yuca Frita was well cooked and seasoned. The portion was sizable and there was enough leftover to take home. I watched late after plate of fresh seafood passing by- it all look fresh and smelled lovely. I will be back soon to indulge, no doubt. Great food and inexpensive when your looking to share a meal. Tried their Chaufa with steak or aka Steak Fried Rice with a wide order of fries. Big enough for 2 Adults and a growing teenager. However, their Ceviche ( raw seafood) is a bit pricey than other Peruvian places I've gone too and considering its in a shopping plaza I don't think the prices are reasonable enough. Dessert is great with their Piccarones, which is the Peruvian version of a doughnut in a sweet syrup sauce. All in all, will come again.. read more

My husband saw the reviews and said it looked good so we thought we would try this place since we just got done at the Zoo. We were pretty hungry. It is definitely a Spanish speaking restaurant so not sure if they speak much English. The lady didn't seem to speak to me much in English. It started out great we ordered our food. Then we ordered our appetizers and tasted good but it could of been better. Then we are sitting there waiting for our main course and someone who sat down after us already got their meal which was really weird. We finally got our meal then we asked where is the other meal for the kids they are hungry. Seem like she didn't even put the order in so I hate doing this but we told her to cancel the item. They started to eat our dinner and by the time the other food would of been brought out they would of been full and over it and ready to leave. Then she disappeared and was no where to be found for 15 mins and we were trying to leave because the kids were tired. At this point the bad service made this place not appealing at all to come back. Then on top of that they are guaranteed a tip already when you pay your bill. So she knew she was going to get a tip no matter what so she doesn't care of taking care of the table. I came to visit La Perla at 8pm on a busy Saturday night just in time to grab the last available table. Despite the place being packed with large groups and birthdays they never forgot to come in and check up on our smaller two-top table. The food came out with dizzying speed and was inexplicably fresh, hot (less the ceviche, thankfully), delicious and perfectly executed.
