Quattro formaggi pizza

Absolutely delicious pizza!! We also had the reypenear kaas baguette and enjoyed it. They had an olive oil infused with dried chili peppers and garlic on the table that tasted amazing on the baguette. The servers were very nice and we were sat pretty immediately. It was a great stop for a quick and delicious lunch!

La Perla is officially your PIZZA SPOT when you go to Amsterdam, and this is coming from a New Yorker foodie who's tried slices all over the world. This place was great. The pizzas come whole, so no slices here, but make sure you come hungry, they have a lot of good pies to enjoy. An aperol spritz to go with the pie is the right move in Europe, so get one of those when you sit down and enjoy. The service was okay, the place was packed so he put in the orders, had a little time to talk, but would rather chat up the group of girls outside who are on vacation. It's okay, I don't blame him. The Proshut is Imported (the best) and could you believe the people next to us were from Brooklyn and they loved it too? That says something. Two thumbs up. One bite score- 7.3

Had a wonderful early dinner here. It was a hot day and it was wonderful to sit outside in the shade and people-watch while enjoying good drinks and pizza. The bartender made me a Mojito which was refreshing though it was not the menu.

Classic Neapolitan pizza served in a cozy tight space. I was surprised that the wood fired oven and kitchen is actually located across the street with the food runners traversing back and forth. The fresh buffalo milk mozzarella and the crust were the highlights. The pizzas we tried could have been more amped in taste with some salt. I love the fresh ingredients however so I will let that pass. Our server was great-quick with suggestions or refilling our wine glasses. Reservations are important as the space fills up fast.

There spicy salami and Brouwerij!

Can't beat the great taste of woodfire pizza! I was just visiting and sat at the bar because the place gets packed. Service is great. I should have ordered wine with the pizza because it's that good.

The pizza was amazing and so is the customer service! The best pizza I had in a while. Cheers from California!

Great cocktails. Friendly staff. Maybe one of the best pizzas I've ever had, easily rivalling those in NYC or Italy. Absolutely a superb place to visit. Book a table if you can!

The perfect afternoon spent eating pizza and burrata outside La Perla. Highly recommend this restaurant gem, their bread is incredible and naturally so is the pizza. We went around brunch and the omelettes and pastas also look delicious.

We were getting sick of eating traditional Dutch food after 3 days in Amsterdam and a friendly local we chatted up recommended La Perla for dinner. We made an easy reservation and headed out around 9 pm. The restaurant is located down an alleyway in a quiet neighborhood, which already lends a romantic, undiscovered vibe. It's in the "Little Italy" portion of the Jordaan district. The restaurant atmosphere is modern and sleek. Europeans are very quiet diners, so it's not loud at all. The place is small with only a few tables. We were treated warmly even though we were obvious tourists. La Perla specializes in Italian cuisine and in particular, Naples style pizza. They have a nice wood burning brick pizza oven that cooks up some tasty pies. (The oven is located across the street, which is weird but cool! It's not technically inside the dining room portion of the restaurant). Pizzas cost roughly $10 - $14 euros each, which is a good deal considering their quality. What makes the pizza so good here is the excellent ingredients. According to the chef, they get fresh buffalo mozzarella delivered several times a week straight from Italy. Even the olive oil on the table is delicious. We opted for a classic margherita pizza and one with sliced salami (their version of pepperoni) with a fresh buffalo mozzarella appetizer. The cheese appetizer was creamy and pungent, with a drizzle of quality olive oil and a few greens for color and topped with salty olives. We also had a bowl of fresh olives for the table (watch out for the pits) that were delicious. The pizzas were large and fresh, perfectly chewy with a light, bright tomato sauce. There are also plenty of wines by the glass too. It's great if you can't agree on a bottle. Reservations are easy to make by calling the restaurant. They are required for dinner, but lunch is walk-in only. Don't be intimidated, they are super friendly here (and speak perfect English -- as well as some Italian)!

Another very nice Italian place in the little Italy street from Amsterdam…read more Don't expect pizza's here though this is a real kitchen! This very small Italian is always packed. In the open kitchen you can see (and hear!) the chef work his magic. The bread, the starters, the fresh home made pasta's and the secondi's are all amazing. They import a lot from Italy themselves, and you can even but a bottle of olive oil here. The place is full of ferrari signs, foto's of Sophia Loren, etc. It feels like a second home. Great for a nice romantich night out or a double date, maybe not so good if you go with more then 4 people, as the place is very small. Expect to spend about 115 euro for 2 persons incl a bottle of wine. Make sure you reserve a table!

On the outside it doesn't look all too fancy. Inside, the tables are closely arranged; making getting up from your table quite a challenge at times. However the waitress was friendly, and the atmosphere cosy. I had the truffle tagliatelle, which tasted excellent, but sadly wasn't cooked properly; it stuck together. Same goes for the pasta with sausage we had. Maybe the secondi taste better, but I'm not prone to go check them out after this experience. All in all, good service, but for the pricing they might pay a little more attention to the food.

Restaurant Sebastian - Focaccia, Stracciatella and Tomato

The entrées on top of that were more than enough food. Also enjoy that evening. We had eggplant Parm, pasta carbonara and tortellini. Our server was great at explaining dishes and helping us make selections. The restaurant is a little warmer where we were seated near the pizza oven. The biggest negative was the person making the pizzas who understandably was hot, but did not want us to observe him even though he is in an open kitchen.

From the moment we started ordering, it felt like we were constantly being told "no." Multiple dishes on the menu weren't available to order, with little explanation or effort to offer alternatives. It was disappointing, especially when we had specifically come to try several of their signature items. The most bizarre part of the evening was the drink service. We asked for wines and liquors that were visibly displayed behind the bar, only to be told they were "reserved for the owner" and unavailable to paying guests. If bottles are on display in a restaurant bar but aren't actually available to customers, they shouldn't be presented as part of the experience. The staff wasn't rude, but the overall attitude came across as unaccommodating and dismissive. Instead of feeling welcomed, we felt like we were inconveniencing the restaurant simply by trying to order from the menu. Unfortunately, this was a disappointing experience from start to finish, and we won't be returning. With so many incredible restaurants in Amsterdam that are happy to serve what's on their menu and behind their bar, it's hard to recommend Sebastian. Bar and restaurant staff continuously said "this is the worst day of my life."

The bruschetta was simple but really fresh--the buffalo mozzarella and tomatoes had a lot of flavor. The meatballs came in a light tomato sauce and were tender, not overly dense. For mains, we had the tagliatelle ragu and the pappardelle with mushrooms. The pasta seems to be homemade--it's got that bite and texture. The duck ragu was rich and comforting, with just enough sauce to coat the noodles but not drown them. The pappardelle was a highlight--big, silky noodles tossed with mushrooms that actually tasted like mushrooms, not just something from a can. The flavors were earthy and balanced, and you could tell everything was cooked to order. Service was relaxed and friendly, which fit the mood of the place. However, it was slow given there was only two people working. It's the kind of restaurant where you can take your time and actually talk to whoever you're with.

The service and environment were friendly, and the food delivered. We enjoyed a Burrata tomato salad made with arugula, focaccia, penne pasta arriabata, and a rib eye steak. I will tell you that if we had drank more going to the bathroom, would've been a harrowing experience as the bathroom is located upstairs up a very narrow, steep stairwell.
