La Or is a classic asian salon, located in Crystal City Shops, the underground mall. I recommend entering via Marriott. Also bring cash since there is a $1 credit card fee. The prices are as shown with no additional taxes or fees just ability to tip at your discretion. I got the classic manicure which was very affordable at only $22. They had a large selection of OPI nail polish and the nail tech put an Essie clear coat which made the polish last about 2 weeks with rough use. She was efficient and not very chatty. This would be a 5 star experience except that the nail technician that I got was a little rough removing dead skin which caused a lot of hang nails a few days later. read more

Yesterday evening I stopped by to set a 10:00am appointment for this morning and once I walked in at 10:00am everything was set and ready to go. They are always great with timing but I highly recommend just simply setting an appointment, Danny is really good about scheduling everyone in as best as possible. Even though they do accept walk-ins be mindful just as any other business the volume of their customers is unpredictable some days. Their location is perfect since it is right off the Crystal City metro stop. I personally live within walking distance so they've always accommodate my random visits to stop by and get my nails or feet done. So just call and they'll fit you in! I highly recommend this location because once I moved to the Crystal City area, I tried multiple nail salons in the area and this is the only location I return to. The prices are good, staff are friendly and it's extremely convenient for me. Lauren did my Classic Pedicure this morning but i have had each of these ladies for different services. I usually do SNS manicures and Gel Pedicure. I have even gotten my eyebrows waxed and tinted here so definitely stop by, you can get everything done at once. read more

This was my first time at this salon, and unfortunately, it was a really disappointing experience. I called a week in advance to book two Gel-X manicures at the same time, expecting a smooth and timely appointment. Instead, we ended up being there for over 3 hours when it should have taken no more than an hour and a half. They started on my friend after a 20-minute wait, but I was left sitting for over an hour and a half before anyone even began my nails--apparently, only one technician knew how to do Gel-X, which they didn't tell us when we booked. During that time, the staff kept pushing me to switch to dip, and when I politely explained that dip doesn't last as long on my nails (from years of experience), they got passive-aggressive and seemed irritated. To top it all off, my nails turned out looking very subpar--definitely not worth the time, money, or energy. I booked in advance for a reason, and the lack of professionalism and poor service made this a one-and-done visit for me. Would not recommend. read more

This nail salon is a great hidden gem, I highly recommend for quality service in a convenient location. Pros: I have visited twice and the staff have provided nothing but quality, professional service. On my last visit I asked for a neutral manicure, and Danny went out of his way to match shades that looked great with my skin tone (which included combining two shades). I've honestly never had a nail technician that put so much effort into their work. The work is also high quality--my gel manicures have lasted more than two weeks without any issues. Prices are also very reasonable compared to other salons in the area and they take appointments (and honor the appointment time). Cons: The only con is really that this salon is in the Crystal City underground shopping complex and so unless you're getting off the metro and happen to pass it you might not know it's there. However, once you do know it's there it is extremely convenient for those who live in the area. Bottom line: Definitely my new go to spot, definitely recommend a visit. read more

This is my go-to nail salon, right off the Blue/Yellow lines in crystal city. Pia does a great job and is super meticulous with my short nails. I typically get a gel mani and my nails would last 3+ weeks if the grow out didn't drive me nuts. They have a great gel polish selection (mostly OPI with some DND) and they also offer dip as well as regular polish. They take credit card but I think they prefer venmo. Reasonable prices and they're clean (they use those plastic covers for their pedi chairs and mani bowls). Will come back. read more

I was "stranded" in DC area after a canceled flight and was staying at a nearby hotel. Since I had a LOT of time to kill, I thought I'd treat myself to a mani/pedi and I needed to get the gel off my nails that had been applied before a long trip I'd just come off of (hence the "stranding"). I looked up nail spots within walking distance to the hotel. I called La-Or to make sure the could take a walk-in customer and told them I'd be walking from the hotel and would be there in about 20 minutes. I got a call from them after 20 minutes making sure I wasn't lost and it's a good thing they called because the salon was located underground at the Crystal City metro stop and the maps app didn't show that! Needless to say, I would have been wandering around and actually lost had they not called me! I was so thankful for such great customer service! Tracy was my technician and she was so nice! Did a great job on my nails and the foot massage during the pedicure was just what I needed! read more

First time trying a new nail salon, I'm always skeptical. I feel like I haven't find one that's with walking distance in Pentagon City that has reasonable pricing. But I was very glad I gave La-Or a try! Super easy to book the appointment on the site with very organized and friendly crew. The minute I walked in, I was taken care of. I got the Gel mani / regular pedi with an additional 10 mins foot massage. Total came out under $90. I was working with Gina, who helped me with creating this design. She is extremely detailed and beyond patient. From other reviews, it seems like everyone there has same attitude. On top of that, I feel like they had the best pedicure massage chairs. The amount of times I had broken massage chairs is unbelievable, so it was refreshing to have one that's not only working but actually gave good massages. I highly suggest you give them a try! read more

This place is for sure a new favorite. I've had such a hard time finding a place that does a good gel mani pedi but I've been twice now and they do NOT disappoint. The second timer I was falling asleep after a bottomless mimosa brunch and they made me as comfortable as possible lol. Thanks so much! This is my new go to and I don't even live anywhere near by but I will take the metro here for sure!! Do be ware that metro is the best way to get here as they are under ground in the metro shops and parking nearby is a headache!!!! read more

I did not have a good experience here. I was getting SNS dip with tips and it took over 2 hours (not including my waiting time after my appointment was set). They also gave me the wrong color and when I told the lady that the powder color looked wrong she told me it would look different after they were on my nails. They did not look different so I just had to deal with the wrong color. On top of that, I had to pay extra for almond shape nails which is ridiculous and they didn't even tell me that when I asked for it. read more

Pia was fantastic as always! She took her time and my nails look, and feel great!! First time getting color SNS and couldn't be happier. Also appreciate they could accommodate a short notice request. I arrived 10am on a random Wednesday for a walk-in pedi. I was disappointed to find the door closed - the team started trickling in about 10 minutes late. Once we got started, Ann was attentive and thorough, doing a great job. The flip side of that: this was one of the longest pedicures I've ever had. (It was enjoyable and pleasant to not feel rushed, but still: budget your time appropriately.) The vibe was chill and relaxing, a pleasant surprise since the location is basically in a mall. read more

I come here all the time to get an acrylic fill and new nail art with Lauren. Shes always seems willing to try new things and doesn't get annoyed by my antics (I'm very indecisive and very specific about what I want) she's always very proud when she can do the nail art and will show it off to her coworkers lol. I'm a barista so I work with my hands a lot and my nails will usually last me a little over a month without breaking. I'm giving 5 stars because this place meets all my requirements for a nail place: convenient, reliable, can do the nail art I want, makes me feel comfortable enough to make adjustments, and provides nails that will last (won't break and most importantly won't lift at the cuticles!) read more

Recently relocated to the area and had an impromptu nail pop-off that I needed fixed and filled asap. I called La-Or and the nice gentlemen on the phone was able to schedule me in within the next hour. I love this place! They really make you feel safe during this time. They have strict cleaning protocols and the have barriers in place for everyone's protection. Just tried La-Or for the first time and I am a convert! This is now my go-to place for pedicures. Pia did an absolutely fabulous job. The pedicure is perfect and my normally rough heels are absolutely smooth -- even a week later they are smooth -- not sure this has ever happened. I highly recommend this salon. Everyone was friendly and the quality of the service is outstanding. P.S. there are two La-Or's on Yelp. This is the one in the 1750 arcade right by the Crystal City Metro. I've been coming to this nail salon for years and I have never been disappointed. I've had my nails done in various ways including gel, full set with tips, and dips. Each technique was done very nicely. I also get pedicures and they're great as well. It's a gem read more

Just moved to the DC area and this was the first place I tried because it was very convenient. Lauren did a GREAT job with the dip nails.

I was just stopping in to use up some time before going to the movies, and I was pleasantly surprised. First, I noticed that while the salon was small, but very tidy and clean. I noticed signs stating that they use disposable nail files, and foot bath liners, which is a plus! Li-Li did my gel manicure, which was ok, not the best when it came to my cuticles and getting to the end of the nail bed with the polish, but the polish was executed pretty well. I will add to my review in a couple weeks to say how they held up. read more

After eating at Potbelly's across the hall, I decided to give this nail salon a try since I really needed a pedicure. Gotta say, the tech did a solid job! The pedicure was very relaxing! It lasted almost an hour since the lady was thorough and unrushed. Not slow mind you, she just wasn't rushing through the job. She also spent a few minutes cutting out an ingrown toenail. My big toe feels much better :) No 5th star for a few things like the massage function on my chair didn't work, no tipping on credit cards, and the polish selection being a bit outdated- good quality but not many summery colors to choose from. God willing, my job won't send me to anymore boring seminars across the street at FEMA but if they did, I'd come here after to unwind. read more

I dont usually write much reviews especially negative ones but this time i just need to channel my frustration over horrible, horrible manicure. I did duo mani- pedi. Pedi was alright, but not mani as u can see from this picture. Picture taken 2 days ago my skin around nails is literally peeling of and i guess i know the answer. The woman who did the job was not cutting or pushing cuticle to the edge but tearing, yes you heard me, tearing it. Every time i shook my hand from pain she just giggled and kept going. Its absolutely not correct way of doing mani, u probably should retrain your staff. read more

Horrible customer service. I also paid $47 for a fill-in and gel. They peeled after 3 days. I will never return.

I would have come in with 3 or 4 stars with my pedicure but given how unsanitary the pedicure was, it needs to be dropped way the fuck down. Price of pedicure $30. Same price as Ivy Nails where they actually sanitize their tools. Sadly, I was running late yesterday, was desperate, and chose La-Or for a pedicure as I had not time to go anywhere else. My nail tech was friendly and took her time to really shape my nails to perfection. Unfortunately, what I noticed after my pedicure was over will haunt me for the next 4 weeks as I pray I don't get an infection. When she was done with the tools on my feet, she handed the jar of tools over to the tech next to me. That tech then dumped alcohol on it and began using the tools on someone else! A 2 second rinse of alcohol is not up to health code standards. She even did this with the foot blade! THE FUCK! So $30 for a dirty ass pedicure? No way. I won't come back. I had been previously for an eyebrow wax which was pretty decent but I shutter to think how filthy they keep their wax if they don't even sanitize their equipment tools properly. I am notifying the health department. Run tell that. read more

I was a regular customer here through most of 2006. I went for regular eyebrow waxes and once in a while for mani/pedi. They're quick and they're good at it. La-Or - the thai woman who owns this nail salon - does permanent makeup and spa treatments. She has several skilled manicurists on staff and there are 4 manicure stations lined up on the right side of the wall and 2 pedicure spas to the left. They have a backroom and a room upstairs for spa treatments and waxing. I really only stopped going there because I'm not very good at making appointments for waxing so every time I showed up, I had a different person wax my brows. I like to have the same person do them because they know what I want each time. The prices here are great - I think La-Or mentioned to me once that her prices haven't increased since the 1980s. I would avoid here at lunch time because it gets packed with lunch crowds due to the location in the Underground. I think brow wax is $10 and mani/pedi is very reasonable - I will have to look at their pricing and update this post. I took advantage of their $75 special once and this is a must if you want to be pampered for almost 3 hours. For $75 you receive a European facial, Spa pedi, mani and eyebrow wax. I can't think of a better deal in the DC area. I left there feeling 100% revived, refreshed, rejuvenated. read more
