Tulum is funny kinda. Or rather the people that visit. People go to Tulum (a heavily touristy spot) thinking that their USD is saving them money. What they don't account for is that in Tulum, that market everything at USDA prices. Here in the US, you easily pay about $15 for a pizza and guess what they charge here for los guerros? 300 pesos. That's around 15 USD. If you go outside of Tulum, you'll easily find food that's actually cheap. For an example we found Mexican pizza spots in PDC or around outside of Cancún that was only about 200 pesos. We found tacos for only 15 pesos (75¢), while the tacos in Tulum were $1. But I digress, just pointing out a point. The 4 stars is for the service, which was decent and the food, which was good. That is what we paid for this Méxicana pizza. It was good, not great. We came down from PDC to see this place and Matcha Mama. I wouldn't come back here, especially since it's over crowded with people not wearing masks. Seriously, only me and my fiancée were wearing masks in Tulum.

Thin crust, brick fired

I would say "really good pizza on earth, and the best place to eat it!" Loved their thin crust with the char from the brick oven. Their pizza sauce was on point- just the right amount of sauce - full of tomato/garlic/basil goodness. Our first pizza was so yummy, we had to go for a second with pepperoni- and it was great, also made a delicious breakfast the next morning. Pizza is what they boast, but my favorite part of the meal was the calamari Caesar salad. The calamari were crispy and I enjoyed the creative Caesar salad play. I haven't had a fried calamari before with a caesar dressing, but I'm definitely taking that idea home. All in all, a great evening of yummy food, good service and don't forget your mosquito spray, especially in the evening- as with any of the open air restaurants down there. If you do... they have sprays available

Laura & Matteo are some of the best people/business owners I've ever met. They served us the most reasonably priced & refreshing drinks in Tulum and the bacon pizza was absolutely delicious. We came back the following day because the vibes were so warming and positive, just had the absolute best time hanging out. They even offered me some insect repellant that's how sweet this amazing couple is! I would love to go back to Tulum just to hang out at this bar restaurant again. Best wishes from Florida!

Margherita pizza

We came across this spot after a full day at the beach when we were really craving pizza and pasta. We drove around looking for a few spots, but stumbled across La Onda. Flor was our waitress and she was really kind and welcoming. We ordered guacamole, 2 pizzas (Margherita and Hurucan), and a pasta. Everything was so good. The pizza was freshly made in the wood fired oven, and everything was fresh and flavorful. Portions were great as well. Flor and the staff were really friendly and kind. It has outdoor seating and is clean. We got a virgin piña colada which was so yummy. We will be back the next time we're in Tulum!

Pepperoni Pizza

The pizza was made to order right in front of you and delicious! The pasta is to die for! The frozen cocktails were very tasty.

prettiest place I ever had pizza

The sign out front actually says "Best Pizza On Earth". So we couldn't help noticing that on our first drive through Tulum on the way to our hotel. We were pretty incredulous that anybody outside of Italy would make that claim, and we knew it wasn't going to be the best pizza on earth (we are from New York City, that's how we knew) but just seeing the word "pizza" put these 2 New Yorkers into pizza-crave overdrive mode, so we headed over to check it out as soon as we could. What we discovered is that the sign actually means "best place on earth to have pizza", which it is. And the pizza's not bad ;)

If you love pizza and you're in Tulum, this is the spot. Full stop…read more Boccanera is wild in the best way. A laid back wood fired pizza spot with a super cool, relaxed ambience and the friendliest energy. We ordered the pepperoni pizza and honestly I've never had anything like it. It's insanely good. Pair it with their habanero sauce and jalapeños and it is literally fire. Perfectly cooked, bold flavor, unforgettable. We also ordered the Caprese with apples, almonds, and beets and wow. Such a fresh and different take on a salad. Every ingredient tasted so clean and vibrant. My tummy was genuinely happy after this meal, which says a lot. It's not far from where we're staying near Azulik, which made it even better. The vibe is effortless, chill, and welcoming. Bonus points for the two local cats, who are absolutely adorable and add so much charm to the place. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, and the menu has so many choices that there is truly something for everyone. If pizza is your love language and you're anywhere near Tulum, Boccanera is a must visit.

We put our name on a list, but no phone number was given so really it's a wait for a table or come back type of situation. We ended up leaving and coming back 40 mins later and were sat quickly outside. The pizzas are OUTSTANDING! I think the reviews all say that and it's the truth. The crust is Neapolitan style thinner crust but the flavor is just spot on! The toppings and sauce are well balanced. The roasted chicken was a great addition to the vegetarian. If they made cheese sticks with a marinara sauce with that crust it would be a HUGE seller! The green salad was pretty standard and not much that was memorable or forgettable, just good and as expected. Unfortunately, the bruschetta was a huge let down -- we literally received halved cherry tomatoes on a piece of bread. They served it with olive oil to drizzle, but that did not even come close to what we expected. There are a few cats that roam the outside patio, but they don't bother you much. The staff was welcoming and we had good conversation with the server even for it being 20 mins before they closed.

We were greeted by friendly staff who seated us at a large comfortable table that had both a couch and chairs, which was very comfortable. The restaurant focuses on Italian food, with seafood and steak options. The decor reminds me of a French shabby chic vibe, very pretty! Charred octopus- 7/10 Steak- 10/10 (best we've ever had! and we eat at amazing steak houses in Los Angeles) Spicy vodka pasta- 7/10 (spicier than im used to, but hey we are in Mexico. We had a large bachelorette party and luckily had the place virtually all to ourselves. We ordered a ton of food and shared everything amongst the party. Our favorite appetizers were: STEAK CARPACCIO and the SCALLOPS W/ CAULIFLOWER PURÉE. Our favorite pastas were: CARBONARA FETTUCCINE W/ TRUFFLE and the ALASKAN KING CRAB RAVIOLI. Other honorable mentions were the DUCK SALAD & the BOGAVANTE RISOTTO W/ ASPARAGUS. Honestly, all the food we got was delicious and we really enjoyed our dinner and the experience overall. We ended the night with the DOLCI PAROLE SAMPLER because we couldn't decide on which dessert to try AND they even gave the bride to be a complementary cake. Needless to say, we left STUFFED. Highly recommend trying our Parole, especially if you're not into the super chaotic nightclub-like restaurant types such as Rosa Negra and Taboo.

We love the vibe from outside so we decided to try it out and once we arrived upstairs we were greeted with lovely live music and a beautiful ambience. We had a seafood platter that made our night an incredible pizza that we had half that night and the rest for lunch and a lovely salad with falafel and hummus. The drinks were perfectly mixed and not too sweet. Our waiter Alex was kind as can be and we enjoyed talking with him and having a few laughs. Overall I will give this place 10 stars if I could. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The manager was enjoyable to talk to you and the entire vibe including the incredible music made our night. Thanks Alex!!!

It came with olives, roasted peppers, a few different types of cheese, artichoke, grilled veggies, an entire pizza of toasted dough!!! And most important bruschetta. We also ordered pasta arrabiata, as well as the baked eggplant pasta (I forget what it was exactly called) but it was so delicious. I'm from NYC and we have some of the best Italian food in the world and this restaurant in Tulum Downtown ranks right next to them. Extremely affordable too! And the place itself it super cool as it has a lofted area, an extensive wine and beverage list and is open but airy enough to sit down and not be too hot whilst eating your meal. Bellissimo!
