Back in the 1970's my family would frequent La Oca time and time again and the roasted chicken was excellent. There's just something about the sight of plump chickens rotating slowly on a rotisserie spit, especially when there are rows of them with the aroma of roasted poultry wafting onto the street. It was the first evening for Jamie W. and me in Sitges, and that particular combination of sights and smells drew us to this popular spot for a comfort food dinner. No surprise that each of us ordered the 5,95€ 1/4 Roasted Chicken. It was interesting that we weren't given a choice as to which quarter it would be. We needed French Fries, so we got them on the side for 3,5€ each. They were on lukewarm side. We split the 9,25€ Salade Nicoise for a veggie-adjacent complement. It's a popular place that fills up as it opens for lunch. Rotisserie chicken is the primary dish along with a bunch of sides. Tables are packed tightly, and service is quick. They are turning the tables quickly, so make sure you know what you want before calling them over. The roast chicken was flavorful and tender. I'm not sure what spices they use, but I did enjoy the fragrance of it. Keep your blood pressure in mind as the food is a bit on the salty side. This place is on the beaten path but well worth it. Prices are ok (not cheap but not outrageous) and they had me at chickens roasting out front. We love the chicken and all the other menu offerings. Easy for a group to do a big of family style if they want to order a whole chicken (they are not huge) and a bunch of tasty sides. The place is packed and busy during the day but we did not have to wait long, good turnaround time. read more

Rabbit!!! If it's your first time Spain and you want to try something you've never tried in the states then get their roasted rabbit. It's so flavorful and juice I regret not getting a whole one for myself. Even the mayo tastes so rich and healthy. I'm amazed.... read more

We normally go to el Superpollo but I wanted to try this place. We won't be going back. Service is atrocious. We got seated right away but it took forever to get someone to come and take our order. They never came back to ask if we wanted more drinks. The food was not delicious. The chicken was over cooked and dry. My son's spaghetti was really oily. La Oca doesn't look like much from the outside. The entrance is small, rather narrow, and doesn't look like it would lead into much. To one side are 4 racks of chickens roasting on a rotisserie and on the other side a refrigerated meat case. The chickens are pretty much rotisserie chickens, the same as commonly found in many American super markets, but the meats are something else. They are very appealing, look very nice, with large sirloin (known as entrecote, though such is generally a ribeye cut in most places) cuts of veal not commonly found in the United States which was what lured me into La Oca. Upon entering the main dining area I was surprise by its size and pleasant décor. Indeed very nice; rather upscale in appearance. I was given a standard menu in Spanish, English and French along with a daily menu. At first I was going to go for the eel, but finding that it was an imitation eel, went with the sirloin cut of veal which I had seen in their refrigerated case. Though their rotisserie chicken look good and was recommended to me by my server, I decided against it as I figured I didn't travel all the way to Spain to merely dine on some barnyard cluck I could have just about anywhere. My meal came with a rather simple salad merely comprised of some fresh sliced red peppers, lettuce and onion with a few ripe and green olives; nothing special but not bad. As for my veal dish, it came with fries, a roasted red pepper and the veal though grilled hardly had any char to it. However, the flavor was good and the cut tender. Really the best thing about La Oca is the pleasant dining atmosphere and the service of the wait staff, all of whom were properly dress and professional in every way. read more

This restaurant breaks the law by denying customers unpaid water and making them order bottled water. It is the law to offer a pitcher of free water. First, the waiter lied to me, saying he knew not of such law, which passed in April 2022. The manager told me tap water had to much lime and that if I wanted a pitcher of water I needed to sign a waiver in case I had stomach aches later. We are talking about potable drinking water, not reclaimed water for gardens. She cynically brought me a piece of blank paper and told me I could fill out the waiver for a pitcher of tap water or she would give me a free glass of the restaurant's filtered water... By the way... I am a native speaker cod Spanish and I am also fluent in Catalan. The waiter brought bottled water pretending he did not understand what I said: bring me tap water. The manager said the law was a month ago. Wait! it is August 15; the law was passed in April. Another misrepresentation of fact! The food: Xató salad, recommended Canelons, recommended Mixed grill, so-so; not worth the price. Sangría, light, but refreshing We opted to get dessert next door (Olivier gelato parlor) I will not return there. The manager said she was breaking the law by setting the thermostat lower to make customers comfortable. But no filtered water for all. I told in USA even McD filters their water. read more

Wow, if you like lamb then this is THE place to go. I've had lamb dishes many times but this lamb shoulder was the most moist and flavorful dish I've ever had. Lightly seasoned and not gamey at all. I debated between duck breast or lamb and our server preferred the lamb shoulder. I'm here in Sitges for three more nights and crazy as it may seem, our family may have to go back! My sister-in-law had the veal sirloin with pepper sauce on the side and she loved her dish as well. La Oca is a must stop for dinner in Sitges. read more

We called on here on our last night after we had enjoyed this place the first time we visited last year. As with our previous visit the service on here is good. There is plenty of waiters to serve and the turnover of tables is at a record speed. I had the 1/2 roast chicken. It was simply gorgeous. Very delicious in deed, you must try this. My partner had a pizza, and he claims its was also delicious. The price of the food in La Oca is very reasonable and that coupled with excellent service warrants the 5th star. This is a very busy restaurant and can cater to larger parties if required. The maitre dee is very welcoming and it's nice to be acknowledged from the moment that arrive. The steak and chicken were ok but chicken seems a little over done and salty. That is the highlight. Otherwise this is not a dining experience u want to repeat. The sale was iceberg lettuce and too much onion. The sides were fries, tomatoes or mushrooms for 3 to 5 €. The garlic bread was a piece of toast with a piece of raw garlic and a tomato that I had to peel and assemble myself. Not sure if this is a Spanish custom but I was not a fan. Everything was mediocre at best. The lighting was bright and cafeteria like, tables were crowded and food was delivered to your table prior to having tasted salad. This seems like an effort to cattle drive people for profit without any intention of delivering a dining experience. I read the reviews as I sat down and was concerned. Really great restaurant in the city of Sitges, a small and lovelly about 50 km soth of Barcelona. Traintrip takes about 30 minutes. The is where the barceloneans go on vacation they say. Open later - we arrived at 11pm and were starving, so decided to take a chance. Started off with a half chicken and it was incredible! You walk past an open rotisserie with the chickens roasting and they smell as great as they taste. Unfortunately it only went down hill from there. The liter of sangria was very very small and barely poured four very tiny glasses. My husband had pork sausage and bean, and I had carbonara pasta, our friends had a lamb dish and also carbonara pasta. All four dished were incredibly bland and lacked any flavor. We had the set lunch meal with spaghetti and cream sauce and cod, spaghetti and black rice. The spaghetti was over cooked and mushy. My wife and I had the pleasure of enjoying dinner here and I have to say, it was amazing. The service was fantastic, very friendly and attentive, food came out fast and hot and they made you feel like you were part of their family when dining in. We decided on the lasagna which came on a ceramic plate straight from the oven, it had a great mixture of bolognese sauce, ham, hard boiled eggs and of course cheese. It was the best lasagna we have ever had. We paired the lasagna with their version of garlic and they prepare it, well teach you how to prepare in such a manner that you will eat garlic bread this way for the rest of your life. I will not spoil it for you, it is definitely a must do, we will never use bread with garlic butter spread ever again, lets put it that way. I ordered the Veal steak with a side of mushrooms and peppercorn sauce, delicious to the core. This place is a hidden gem in the downtown core of Sitges and it is somewhere you have to try. What really pulled us in was the 4 racks of rotisserie chicken they have cooking right in the middle of the restaurant in the front. All of the major ovens and grills are at the front of the restaurant and you can see them make your food. Truly an amazing experience, we will go back tomorrow to try the other cuts of meat and pasta. read more
