If you want me to tell you about our experience at Mr. Porter, I'm going to have to tell you a story a fairly long story. Please bear with me. Please stay tuned because our experience is a bit bizarre, and when I say bizarre, I do not mean bad; our experience was absolutely fantastic. It just took an unusual twist. We have been to Mr. Porter twice. The first time was over a year ago, and the second was just recently. The first time had been a very busy day, just seeing all the wonderful sights of Barcelona. At the end of an absolutely fantastic day, we were famished and wanted a great meal and something romantic. After checking local reviews, we decided Mr. Porter would fit exactly what we were looking for. Turning on the GPS, we walked to Mr. Porter and found a very exotic entrance with an intriguing sign and logo. Opening up the large doors and entering the gateway to what was a very exotic even sexy entrance to what would certainly be a charming and romantic experience. At the end of the hallway we stepped through a black curtain to the hostess, a woman completely decked out in a black evening gown. She asked if we had reservations. Fear and trepidation overtook us as we replied no; she smiled and said I have something special for you. She seated us at a large booth in a corner that was ideal for a romantic dinner. The ambiance was perfect, and the candlelight made things even more charming. The service was impeccable and what you would expect from a five-star restaurant. Our dinner that night was absolutely spot on, with us splitting the Porthouse. Perfect char, temperature, and flavor. The wine was ideal and not pricey. Dessert was served on a salt block, which was intriguing. It was enough that we now cook with a salt block at home. As mentioned, service was amazing. Right there at the perfect time never there too much. We finished the night with stars in our eyes. Fast forward to this last trip. Needless to say, we love Barcelona. I mean, who wouldn't! Last time here we stayed at the Le Meridien, and this time we were staying at Sir Victor. Sir Victor and Mister Porter are attached. So when you check into the hotel, you can see into Mr Porter. However, from this view, the restaurant entrance is totally different. Wide open, well lit, and a bar that is now the focal point. It feels different. We were up for an interactive dinner and chose to make a reservation for the chef's counter. Once again, the service was five-star, and the food and the atmosphere were just unbelievable. Oh oh oh soooo good! Engagement at the chef's counter was a special treat. This was so good yet oh so different. We actually thought we were at a different location. We thought it was a second Mr. Porter location in Barcelona. When leaving, we told the hostess we had an incredible evening, and we were glad that we were able to try both of their Barcelona restaurants. She smiled and said we only have one. I was like, no, the one we were at before had this great exotic entrance, red lighting, very sexy; you come through a curtain and very romantic tables. Her smile was bigger, and in professional tones she said Come with me. We followed to a long black curtain; she pulled it back and asked whether the entrance had looked like this. Oh my yes, yes it did! She walked, and we followed. Perhaps you sat here? The restaurant took on a completely different look. We laughed; she laughed. Same restaurant a year later, totally different vibe and appearance. So much so we thought it was a different spot. We can't wait to go back. One of our favorite restaurants in the world. Amazing meal on the last night of our trip. My girlfriend and I split the Ribeye and Chateaubreand and that seemed to be the right amount of meat, maybe just a little bit too much but it was great. The peppers on top of the asparagus were my favorite they remind me of Shishito peppers back in the United States! She loved the ginormous cauliflower, which I thought looked pretty cool, but I'm not a cauliflower guy! And the pistachio fondant dessert was ridiculous, it was like a pistachio lava cake you must order it!!!! We will be back when we're back in Barcelona! read more

We were delighted to find this excellent elegant steakhouse within close walking distance of The One hotel in Eixample. Many restaurants are closed on Sunday evenings, but we were lucky enough to snag early dinner reservations on a balmy evening in May. As we settled into our booth, our waiter Marco stopped by for our drinks order while we perused the menu. I asked Marco if he knows what a Lemon Drop is (not every restaurant in Spain does) and he said, "Of course!" Boyfriend ordered his usual very dry martini, up with a twist. First up was the Mr. Porter focaccia bread with a hummus, herbs, olive oil and yogurt dip, a different bread choice from most steakhouses and really fresh and good. Next was the Taboon Roasted Foie Gras, which was flavorful, rich and perfectly cooked. We ordered steaks, peppercorn sauce and a side of the Black Garlic Broccoli, perfectly cooked and just wonderful. Marco was so funny and sweet and attentive. He took a photo of us to remember our trip by. This is among the best steakhouses we've visited worldwide. We will definitely return on our next trip to Barcelona. read more

We enjoyed Mr Porter for my birthday dinner. We had reservations, but around their opening time there wasn't too many people so I didn't feel like we needed it at the time. If you plan on going later in the night, definitely recommend reserving a table. We were seated quickly, and the waitress helped us not too long after. She recommended some drinks and food items that we ended up ordering and we felt like that were all delicious. We started off with their octopus salad, definitely a yes! Soft and tender, cooked to perfection. The rib eye was good size for two. We had their mash potatoes in the side. Great taste. We enjoyed our time here. Overall, top 5 dining experience in my memory. The restaurant is gorgeous, trendy and luxurious. We had the 8:15pm setting and there were plenty of empty tables. By the time we were heading out around 10:30 to go to the rooftop bar, it was starting to fill up. Our waiter was friendly but not overtly so. Once we started ordering drinks and a bottle of wine he warmed up. Regarding the steaks, my husband said and a I quote "Delicious fat bomb of red meat. Superb. Best steak of my life." Lol. He got the ribeye and is usually a New York strip guy, but the waiter swayed us. The cows are from Scotland which surprised me. And yall, we are snobs with our beef. We are from Oklahoma and know our cows. On principle, I refuse to order steaks outside of Oklahoma or Texas because I'm always disappointed, and I could not agree with my husband's assessment more. The server Marco, was fantastic the entire evening. He paced out our meal perfectly so we didn't feel rushed and also didn't feeling like we were waiting. He made recommendations and was overall a great positive server which made our visit and my girlfriend's birthday that much more memorable. The ribeye on the bone was cooked perfectly. We wanted to have one fancy dinner while in Barcelona and this place delivered. It is attached to a hotel. The entrance was a bit hard to find and was dark and hidden by a curtain but once inside it's spacious and trendy looking. The wine list had a mix of Spanish, French, Italian and American wines. We chose a Grenache Tempranillo blend which was light and paired well with our dishes. We got oysters and octopus to start. The octopus was strangely categorized as a salad but it was just grilled octopus with a curry sauce. The oysters were meaty and not like what I'm used to eating. Yah I wasn't impressed. We were in town for a conference and a few colleagues came for dinner the night before so a group of us decided to go for a night cap -we sat in the cocktail lounge on the sofas and was passed about 5 times before we got up to get help ordering drinks. Frederico came over with a less than helpful attitude and honestly made us feel like we were inconveniencing him by ordering drinks. When we finally got the drinks 30 mins later -half of them were wrong and when brought to his attention he had an attitude about that. He seemed more concerned attending to the 1-table rather than ours. Needless to say we won't be back or referring anyone from our summit there either. read more

Stake is out of this world. Loved my 750 g. ny strip, shared it with my girlfriend. We also had a salad but hard to say anything about anything when stake is this good. Service is just okay. I went there 7pm sharp when they opened, they had us seat near the chef window but i dont complain, the environment there was also top notch. Definitely recommend this place specially if u love steak like i do. I did not appreciate how waitress reacted when refused to take water at start and asked for few minutes to decide what we wanted. I'm generous with giving them 2 stars instead of 1. We went here with having a reservation, so they opted to seat us near the bar. The music at the bar was very loud, and for no real reason. No one was dancing and nobody could think about the constant drone. But what made it so annoying is that they could have easily turned down the volume (there was a person manning the music station). Again, it was very loud and, might I add, lousy music. We were hoping to order dinner, but I couldn't stand the atmosphere. Cocktails were decent, but very expensive (not worth the cost). By Far one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. I've traveled all over the world and currently live in Los Angeles California in the United States. Very few restaurants can live up to what this restaurant has. I ordered Wagyu from here and man it was amazing. I don't know if they have a special farm they get their meat from but wow it's amazing. Yes the meal was extremely expensive but honestly you leave this place so satisfied. They also have this amazingly soft bread that you eat with the meat.
