Arancini, pate (apps) and hanger steak: A+. Scallops (friend had) also first rate. Bolognese (wifey had) sorry but did not like. Guess it's just a different style dish than we love, tasted like pot roast instead of the usual ground veal/pork/beef with carrot sweetness plus pancetta. I'm sure many people will like the bolognese but not our cup of tea. Wine was excellent but I'd prefer more lower cost options. I'm a wine addict and can always find an excellent bottle for under $15 in the liquor store so I don't love paying $60 at a restaurant. I'm complaining a little but look at the 5 stars, this place is a keeper. Loved the atmosphere, waitstaff was helpful and friendly. Will be back. read more

Outstanding wine list, food is brilliantly fresh, perfect handmade pastas, and great vegetarian options. If I lived in Boston I'd be here every week! read more

We went to La Morra last week for an official dinner. It is right on Rte 9 and accessible by T (there goes the first star). We were escorted upstairs, which had a more rustic look with wooden rafters and exposed brick walls. The air-conditioning was so inadequate that we were drenched by the time we were seated. Thankfully , there was seating available in the lower level, which although more urban, was relatively pleasant. We had a window table with good views of the busy Route 9. The waistaff were very friendly. The complimentary bread wasn't that great, but the dipping oil - soft ricotta cheese in olive oil - was fabulous. Four of us ordered the fried stuffed risotto for appetizer, which was delicious. Our friends who had meatballs didn't seem to have complain. The farro and marinated baby artichokes with wood grilled red peppers was heavy on salt, and was o.k. For the primi, we had the mushroom risotto, which was nice and creamy. Halibut with greens was fresh and cooked to perfection. The Tiramisu was the dessert of the day, which just melted in the mouth. Although the portions were small(more like French Dining), they were delicious, and allowed for a satisfying four course meal. Decent Italian outside of North end. read more

The reviews don't lie, La Morra is great! It's very tiny and cozy, perfect for date night. The staff was quick to answer our questions about the food and wine selection and provided terrific recommendations. I ordered the gnocchi which just melted in my mouth. I wanted to try everything on the menu and definitely plan on accomplishing that goal! Considering the quality of the food the price is well worth it (and really, it's not even all that pricey). Check it out. read more

Great atmosphere, great food. We had a lovely, leisurely dinner here and would certainly return. Lamb and roasted romaine weren't perfect, but perhaps we should have learned not to order mutton on the rare side, and the kitchen promptly returned it to the oven for a bit and delivered it medium, dressed as new, which was much better. Tile fish was great, but the underlying vegetables were just perfect! It's pricey but worth it. Recommended for sure. read more

Went to La Morra after seeing it on Chronicle. Gisele was right about the bolognese. Beyond delicious. As were the meatballs, as were the fried olives, as was the fish dish I had, as was the dessert.... Great atmosphere/ambiance, really friendly waitstaff and very high quality food. Not overly expensive for what you get. As other diners have said, its a great hidden jewel. Will definitely be going back! read more

Just went here with my daughters. Incredible gluten free pasta and the porchetta was the best I've had since being in Italy, mouth watering. They were great with kids. read more

La Morra has become our "go to" restaurant when we want be assured of a wonderful meal (local ingredients, interesting recipes), friendly, gracious service at a reasonable price. Last visit had the blue fish which was so fresh and well prepared. We go there 6-8 times a year and always come away very pleased. Thank you, La Morra read more

Finally got a chance to make it to La Morra....and I'm so glad we did! Excellent food, service & ambience! We started with the pasta dish in the butter & sage sauce....it was amazing! For dinner I had the duo of beef, which I highly recommend. Bernie came upstairs to help us pick a wine for dinner & she was very helpful as well as very knowledgable. They really take pride in their wine list, one of the best Italian wine lists I've ever seen! It's so nice to see a restaurant be so passionate about each angle of their establishment. If you haven't been, you should go!! read more

Excellent experience- the food, very gracious staff, the ambience, the wine list. A fantastic neighborhood spot.

We had an 11:30 am reservation for restaurant week today. Thought we were going to be dining alone, but by noon every table was taken. Everyone was happy with their choices; delicious soup, Bolognese and desserts. There was only one waitress for entire restaurant so there was a wait between courses and coffee was lukewarm before cream came. Tables are very close together, but the food is the star here read more

Yowza! That is the word that best describes the most delicious piece of swordfish I have ever enjoyed. Wood-grilled, with a slightly smokey flavor. Texture was other-worldly: soft, fluffy, almost creamy. I could have eaten two portions it was so good. read more

A wee bit spendy, but food is expertly prepared with a relatively unique menu. It is a bit more gourmet than your average italian restaurant, and perks include fresh made ricotta cheese & bread with evoo, amuse, and cheap little mini oures'devoures called cicceti that go down great and get the palate ready for the main event. A wide, but not overwhelming array of meat, fish & poultry with a few veggie option to boot. The wait staff was very helpful and attentive on my trip and paired my meal with a great wine. Dinner came to $150 for 2, which stings, but it was about 1.5 hours long and I left completely satisfied and stuffed. Not an every day place, but maybe every month or two for a treat. read more

My boyfriend and I went here last weekend and it was hands down one of the best meals I've ever had. I've lived in Boston for 11 years, and have been to a lot of so-so restaurants; even the spots that are "supposed" to be good, they leave much to be desired. I'm so glad we found this gem! We are not from Brookline, but had been out doing some errands on the other side of town and were looking for a place to stop and have a bite and a drink. We stumbled upon La Morra, and I can not wait to go back again. The food was amazing; my boyfriend had the most delicious hangar steak, and I had the gnocchi which I am still daydreaming about. We got a complementary beet salad, and at the end of the meal, we were surprised with 2 glasses of dessert wine (and I'm kicking myself that I don't remember what it was, because I want to buy a bottle!) .We sat at the bar, and our waitress/bartender was attentive and as friendly as could be. I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the tasty menu. Definitely check it out! read more

My husband and I had the most amazing dinner at La Morra. The food was very good especially the gnocchi with Ox tail and dates was outstanding, it was very creative. the wine list was very interesting, all the wines were from Italy which made it very authentic. It was a liittle to noisie and too many tables in a small space. read more

Best Italian I've had in Boston! Far surpasses any of the places I've been in the North End. The location almost put me off (near Brookline Village, in a small building off Route 9), but a glowing recommendation from a friend who is a chef convinced me to go for it. There is parking beside the building, but the lot is small and hard to get in and out of. The inside is cozy but not crowded. Our waitress was PERFECT: friendly, good-humored, accommodating, knowledgeable, etc. We did the fixed price menu with the wine pairings, and I am very glad we did. Every course was amazing, and my husband and I really enjoyed trying some new wines. I still take visitors to the more touristy places in the North End for the experience, but the place I recommend to locals is La Morra. read more

Searching for a place to eat, came across this La Morra on Yelp. Nice find. This is definitely a neighborhood gem. The space is homey and the vibe is warm and casual. The service is relaxed, but attentive. The menu is authentic and regional, as opposed to generic Italian. A special of beautifully prepared skate was a standout and the wines by the glass quite nice. Is this destination dining? No, but if I lived nearby I would most definitely be a regular. Oh and everything's fairly priced, making this place a definite value. read more

Love this place! Intimate without being stuffy, food is phenomenal. Had the porkchop with chickpea fries- probably the best porkchop I've eaten! The bread with fresh ricotta is delicious beyond words. I could marry this restaurant. read more

Wonderful ambiance, and our server was very helpful concerning menu choices. The food was amazing, and was well worth the price. We had the hanger steak (medium rare) and lamb pasta--both of which were amazing. We will definitely be back! read more

I read somewhere that this was worth the trek out to the burbs and was comparable to North End restaurants. Not true. That said, my dining companion and I had pretty different experiences. She loved her cocktail and enjoyed the special pasta dish she ordered. My cocktail was full of hard-to-chew blackberry seeds, the salad was made from ingredients I had in my fridge (I'm a 25 year old teacher, nothing fancy), and my entrée was bland. I ordered something I'd never tried anywhere else before-- beef brasato-- and found it fatty, stringy, and bland. The "rosemary polenta" was soupy. We arrived at 5:30 and told the server we were leaving for a 8:00 show, but even so we had to skip desert because dinner was so slow. Because of the location and my experience, I doubt we'll be back, but it wasn't the worst food I've had. read more

Service was very slow, and food was good but not great. All of the servers and other service people we interacted with were incredibly nice and accommodating. The wait times for food, however, were very long. I got the impression it was a kitchen issue, not a servers one - the servers seemed to be waiting around for the food to be ready. The food itself was good but not great, nothing terribly special. Perhaps the kitchen just had an off night. read more

A group of friends and I went during Restaurant Week. The menu was fine; the food was above average, though nothing to rave about. The problems came after we left the restaurant. Our waitress obviously had not been trained in how to charge people properly. Several of us paid cash to the people at the table who were paying by credit card. She managed to charge my card twice, once for the amount I was supposed to pay and days later again for an amount almost 4 times as much without my consent! Come to find out she had given one person another's credit card receipt to sign and made a couple of other errors. When I called the restaurant to complain the person on the other end eventually apologized but basically said well, people make mistakes! Needless to say I will not be visiting this restaurant ever again. read more

We had dinner here last night. The service was really good, the atmosphere was very cozy and our waitress was great. The homemade bread and ricotta cheese was delicious. The amuse bouche was a rabbit pate courtesy of the chef and also amazing. We had the fried stuffed olives and arencini as our cicchetti, both of which was good, but small portioned (4 olives pieces, and 2 arencini. Our main course was the homemade pasta bolognase and soft shell crab which was much too salty. Everything else about it was good. The bolognase was made with pulled beef and had plenty of it which was great, but too much in relation to the amount of pasta. We also had the house caraffe bianca wine, 500cc for $15 which was very good and reasonable for a nice restaurant. Overall, we had a good time. Would have given it 4 stars if the main courses weren't so salty. read more

Great service, great meal, not so great dessert. Went here for the first time for dinner during the week. We shared several dishes and enjoyed most of them. The best dish hands down was Fettucelle con i porri e ravanelli (homemade pasta with leeks, local radishes, honey, thyme, and piave cheese). I would never think that radishes on pasta would be good, but let me tell you, it was amazing. The combinations of flavors and the homemade al dente pasta were perfection. Other great dishes: 2 of their specials: lamb ragout over wheat pappardelle and soft shell crab; entree swordfish. Best drink: Lima Basilica. Orange grey goose vodka, lime juice, sugar, and basil. Refreshing and paired well with everything. Dessert was not impressive: we got the chocolate cake (boring) and the almond torte (dry and not good). Definitely go here for drinks/dinner but skip dessert. read more

Went for restaurant week. Wonderful staff, terrific food and a perfect ambiance. The bread with ricotta chesse spread to start was lovely. Had the panzanella salad -- light and fresh. The taglietelle bolognese was terrific -- good portion and definitely in-house made pasta. The cornish hen was also good and the cantaloupe sorbet was a refreshing treat. We had a 9:30 reservation, so we totally closed the place down. They didn't rush us at all and smiles all around when we left. Small pours on the wine -- like, 1/4 of a glass for $10. Otherwise, La Morra = 4.5 stars. Definitely check it out and I look forward to going back. read more

Very good food. A little TOO salty... But that's a very Tuscan thing to do (lots of salt). Te bartender Bernie is great.. Sometimes a bit spastic (even when it's not busy). read more

This is a solid place. Even when super busy (like this past Saturday night) the waitstaff is really attentive. They go out of their way to make sure we are taken care of. We have had a lot of great meals there; see other reviews about the great food. But what else needs to be said is that this place is staffed by really Good People. It might be because La Morra is owned and run by a couple (Josh and Jen?) on site; their care shines through. read more

I've been here several times over the past few years. I've always had a great meal, without exception. Love the bread and ricotta before the meal comes out. First time here under a recommendation from a friend. Wonderful atmosphere and excellent service. The cocktails were top notch, especially the spicy tequila.
