My stepbrother found his Asado which is hard to come by sometimes, he loved it. My husband finished his whole plate. I had not eaten here in a while but some friends invited me to join them here recently. We had the lunch buffet. There were enchiladas, beans & rice, quesadillas, sopaipillas etc. Not outstanding but not bad. Enchiladas were good, there were types with red and green sauce. Quesadillas were a little burned. This is our third time here, and these are my observations. Margaritas so tart with mix it made my esophagus burn to the high heavens and they are inconsistent as to how much tequila they put in them, so they are average at best. And apparently, they like salt here. Their salsa is WAY too salty. I mean, mouth puckering, kidney failing salty. I know this is just my opinion, but guys....tone the salt down. The food on the other hand is very good. hasn't crossed into the realms of great but it is a solid GOOD food spot. Pork tacos are delicious and the Relleno was excellent. Good service. A solid, go to spot for the Midland Odessa area. Just bring your dialysis machine if you want to eat the salsa. read more

I was craving Mexican food and decided to give one of Midland's many local choices a try. I saw this impressive building and said "Why not?" Turns out, the building, atmosphere, and decor is the best this place has to offer. I was seated promptly but waited quite a bit before my waitress showed up. Another waiter/bussboy put down chips and salsa (without saying a word) on my table before my waitress ever came. I was nearly done with my first basket of chips before my drink order was taken. There is little coordination between the wait staff as multiple waiters/waitresses passed without asking if someone had taken my drink order, etc. Once I did order my drink (water) the waitress forgot the lemons I had requested. Now on to the food. I ordered queso to start off. The queso reminded me of the stuff you buy in the big tin cans or concession style. Not very impressed. Also wasn't the warmest and was quite thick. The chips weren't great either. Semi stale and cold. For my main meal I ordered Berta's Plate. It was two beef chile relanos, rice, beans, guacamole and two flour tortillas. The beef was very greasy and unflavored. The whole plate was lacking spices in general. Needed salt and spicy. Too bad my table didn't have a salt shaker. Anyway, wasn't impressed with this place. Our waitress was super nice and professional/friendly. I used to come here years ago and still do when I get the chance. The food is always a good portion and extremely flavorful and cooked well. The sweet tea is delicious and they add so much flavor into their sauces. This will always be one of my favorite Mexican food joints. Highly vote you check it out when around town. The fajitas are some of the best in town. However, the owner has chosen to decrease the salsa bowls to something akin to espresso cups. Since the employees are terrified of her, they dare not bring larger bowls upon request. Sadly, the owner doesn't care. Far too much hubris to bend to the customers requests. This is such a wonderful place! I used to come here on lunch breaks while working in the south part of Midland, back when I still lived there a year ago. It had nice decor & a great atmosphere. Quiet & peaceful, but enough lighting to read. Usually not a problem with waiting for restrooms (1-seater), & they were kept clean. I had some favorite vegetarian-friendly plates. I don't remember the official names listed on the menu, but it was something like chile relleno or cheese enchilada. Very convenient for lunches in South Midland! read more

Always love to come to La mission, but this time was frustrating enough for me to right a Hangry review. We have the hosts our number to wait 20 min to sit down and 30 min goes by so I asked how much longer the wait and she said under my name that someone texted stop to not send updates when table was ready so it moved on to the next groups so when I asked the number it was wrong number entered we sat in front of them the entire time so they took my correct number and said we would be next to seat. 15 min later and 5 families later I told her to cancel our reservation and we were leaving it was frustrating. Nothing done and I should of asked for manager but anyways moral of the story make sure to verify they have the right number and they should train there employees to verify the number back to the customer before and to let them know if they don't receive a confirmation text to come back up. I bring a lot of clients here and for the time being I'm not going back. But the food is really good just pissed off they didn't try and get me seated for the issue. S read more

Chile Rellenos - "To Die For!" I miss this place. The salsa is on spot too! I didn't go here much growing up but my husband did, man wish we would have. The space is colorful and cool. La Mision really has a bright and festive atmosphere. There are lots of string lights on the ceiling and all the waitresses wear those bright, fluffy, off the shoulder blouses. The chili rellenos are cheesy and delicious, without being soggy and greasy. Unlike the rice at other Mexican restaurants (that I replace with extra beans), the rice here is not dry and has good flavor. I've had the lunch buffet, which offers a nice selection of the staples (enchiladas, tacos, fajitas, etc). Everything was tasty. The chips and salsa are good. No complaints here. Waitresses walking around me for 10 minutes and all of the sudden I get 3 in a row asking what I want. I order a menudo and a short glass of beer. Beer came two minutes before the menudo. Tasted the menudo and guess what? Nothing but salt in it. I tell waitress and the first thing she tells me "you know you still have to pay for it, right? Make me feel like a scumbag trying to get a free meal. Pay and left. Will never come back to this so call restaurant. read more

My favorite place to go. If I could eat here every day I would. There salsa is the best I ever tasted it has so much flavor in every bite I make my husband get his own bowl it's that good. I will not give any stars or ratings. I have always gone in there with my family never ever have I had any problems. Then tonight I order my same plate and my daughter order her plate. My dinner was ok . my daughter on the other hand did not like hers. We told our server and she told the owner. The owner then said there is nothing wrong with my daughters food . I explained to the owner that we come in here all the time. I have never asked for anything to be taken off always always paid and left a tip. But when she told me that we still had to pay for the un eaten dinner plate I was in disbelief.. So I told her she better call the cops im not paying for my daughters plate ill pay for what we ate but thats it. Then the owner took it off and bared my daughter and I from there.
