    Diablito (con nieve de limón)

The day to have La Michoacana is when you need a refreshing treat. The best part about it is, I wasn't certain if there was one in the same center as Northgate, but there it was. A quick left and we were in line! We ordered mangoñadas, one with limón and the other with tamarindo. We called them diablitos, but she knew what we wanted. They were made with the perfect ratio of chamoy, nieve, and nicely chopped fruit on top. The small size was perfect for me this evening. Honestly, I was just so happy eating this. The only confusing part was their menu. Not all TVs were on so I wasn't completely sure if they had fruit salads or tostilocos. It looked like they had the ingredients by the looks of their counter though. They wore masks, wore gloves, and there was hand sanitizer available at the register. No tables for enjoying indoors, and I was okay with that. Thank you!

I noticed they were stale. I told the cashier that my chips were expired and she told me "oh it's only been two days."

I went to this location in Fallbrook. The service was horrible while I was eating my chips. I noticed my chips were stale. I told the cashier and she told me it's only been two days didn't even offer a refund. I also had to throw away my toddlers ice cream. This ice cream shop is horrible. And to top it off the ice cream shop had no AC. It was super hot inside. I couldn't even enjoy my food while I was there.

    Mold

If you're willing to sell old corn at least make sure there isn't mold. The flavor was really nasty, stingy with the Cheeto dust and I had order four elotes, and one of them came without Chile power. Even after the lady helping me repeated what I wanted on the corn at least three times.Elote

Remotely hidden in the back of the shopping plaza on El Camino Real & Mission Ave, is this gem of a small ice cream shop, Ocean Rainbow. One could easily drive right past them because of their small signage on the exterior. The shop is very small and see maybe 10 people. Yeah, very friendly service that is excellent and fast to greet and offer a free sample. This ice cream shop has a very large variety of flavors that are native to Mexican culture. They have ice cream scoops, milkshakes, water-based popsicles, sherbets, sundaes, chamango, banana splits, icicles, elotes, esquites, Tostilocos, popsicles, shaved ice and a whole lot more. You can find flavors like guava, rice, pistachio, coconut, Oreo, cookie dough, rocky road, mango, mamey, cactus fruit, pine nut, MAZAPAN, chamoy, tamarindo, burnt milk, Gansito and even tequila. There most popular item is the Fresas Con Crema. Prices are very reasonable and I got a 3-scoop chocolate waffle cone for $8. They also have fresh-made aguas frescas that are made to-order and esquimales too! I highly recommend checking this spot out the next time you have a sweet tooth!

What makes South Swell great are the flavor combinations that they create for toppings. The actual ice cream is just vanilla or chocolate ice cream. You are coming for the toppings. If you get the bar, the toppings are more evenly distributed and presented the way they should be for the best flavor experience. My favorite is the Bomb Fire bar. They dip the ice cream bar in chocolate and coat it in graham cracker. Then top it with marshmallow that they literally toast with a flame. Then the ice cream cools the marshmallow so it doesn't drip but instead makes a perfectly delicious coating of toasted marshmallow. Service is always good and don't let a line deter you.

It starts smooth and creamy, then you get the buttery crunch of English toffee Heath bar, followed by a thin, crispy, crackable chocolate shell on top and a nice caramel drizzle that pulls it all together. Nothing over the top, just a really solid combination that works. I usually get it in a cup. It's easier to eat and lets you enjoy all the textures without the mess. They also have bars, which look good, but I haven't tried those yet because the cup has never let me down. The only downside is timing and location. They don't open until later in the day, so you have to catch it just right. But when I'm in San Clemente or Laguna and they're open, I always try to stop in. Bottom line, good ice cream, great mix ins, and a flavor combo that sticks with you. Worth a visit if you're in the area and craving something sweet! I hope to someday try some of the other menu items, but I love the Englishman so much...It's hard to switch it up.
