Right in the middle of Rogers Avenue is the best Mexican food in Fort Smith!

Brand new location in addition to the Highway 271 location!! If you have never ventured out to Highway 271, to try La Mesa, you are missing out. Don't worry, because now you can hit La Mesa right on Waldron Road across from the mall off Rogers Avenue. Margaritas are $1.99 a lot of the time and the food is better than any other chain or local chain here in NWA. We love the Carne Asada fries, Nicole's Special, and any other many varieties of fajitas. The service is amazing. I've never had an empty cup or a dirty plate on my table for very long at all!

Upon moving to Arkansas, I've been on the search for a solid authentic Mexican restaurant to dine at. Tonight, my search ended. El Mariachi is absolutely amazing! Located on the south west side of Fort Smith, you get a combination of awesome tasting food, delicious drinks, a choice of different heat level salsas, and all at very reasonable prices. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I had the street taco plate, with al pastor and carnitas meats with a side of refried beans and Mexican rice - which is all made fresh daily in house. I also tend to judge a Mexican restaurant very hard on the quality of their salsa. The regular salsa is tasty, if you ask for their tomatillo salsa, it is hotter and flavorful with a hint of chipotle pepper in the background, and for those brave enough to try it, the Diablo salsa has just the right amount of heat if eaten in small amounts. I also had a top shelf margarita, which for the price point they have it at was perfectly made and enjoyed. In the end, I had to try their flan. I will state, this is probably some of, if not The best flan I've ever eaten. If you are looking for delicious, authentic Mexican food in a comfortable restaurant setting, look no further and give them a try; you won't regret it!

The staff was extremely friendly, all were fully masked. The tables inside for socially distance and everything was very well cleaned. My husband had the pork chili rellenos. He has had this dish in other places but nothing compares to this version. It was heavenly. The flavors were delicious. It was served with rice that was delicious and flavorful and a small bowl of beans that had some pork in it as well. He couldn't have been more pleased with the selection. I had the steak fajitas which were a large serving, and also delicious. They were served with the same wonderful rice, refried beans, and homemade flour tortillas. It was an amazing dish it also had some pico to Gallo, and fresh guacamole that was out of this world. I wish we lived closer because this would be a regular stop.

Everything was either oversalted or had no taste at all. The guacamole was almost too salty to eat. The chips and salsa tasted like canned, crushed tomatoes. The food was cooked well, attractively served, looked appetizing, hot, it met all of the requirements except taste. I really dislike negative comments and remember, this is our opinion, but we were not impressed by the food.
