Complete with hamburgers and fries along with Spanish music Food So, the marinated chicken burrito was quite good. The chicken has a pleasant smokey taste. The Carne asada fries were okay. There were noticeable puddles of fat from the poor cuts of meat which should have been cooked off, but wasnt. Overall Initially not impressed at all with being charged extra for changing sauces. Food was fresh and had a lot of flavor. Rice was exactly the way I like it: dry and light and flavorful! Spinach enchilada had the perfect balance of cheese, spinach and sauce. Hmmm, what to say here ... Okay, so for locating decent Mexican food in Roland this would probably be a good place. The food is okay, but nothing to shout about. For locating a well thought out, socially distanced and Covid aware crowd this is so definitely NOT your spot! Tables are blocked off front and back from each other, but not to your left or right. Busboys wear masks, but only a few of the waitresses do, and most of them don't wear them correctly. A waitress sneezed into her shirt and then brought me a glass of water. The owner walks around without a mask and shakes hands of the regulars, while regulars wander from table to table casually hugging their friends and laughing loudly over the tables people are sitting at. M in general seem mostly shunned overall by the customers. The bathroom is a dumpster fire in need of extinguishing. The checkout is done at the counter by the front door where everybody enters and there was about eight people just standing there shoulder to shoulder. I don't write a lot of negative reviews, but aside from the so-so food the biggest takeaway was that after spending 8 months being Uber careful to avoid catching Covid and getting tested a week ago (negative) we walked out of this place with the feeling that in a single stop we had just undone everything we were so careful about. This restaurant is named for a city in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico, located in the southeast quadrant of the state, and seems to serve food authentic to the region. I have been to this restaurant many times and the food has always been amazing, especially the "Guanajuato Dinner". Although the staff are not unfriendly, thy do not go out of their way to be overly friendly. They may be tired, they get a large number of people each day, just smiling at such a large number of folks is probably very tiring, your face needs a rest sometimes. I would not call this Tex-Mex food. I have eaten at a lot of Tex-Mex places and they are very different. If all you order is tacos, burritos, enchiladas, rice and beans. You might as well go any where; look deeper into the menu, you'll be glad you did. This place is 40 miles from me, and I go there a lot. I think they charge extra if you use a credit card. Just passing through with my daughter and 6 grandkids. Staying overnight and came here for dinner based on reviews. I'll be honest, I was a little nervous that the locals may not recognize good Mexican food. Well, El Celaya did not disappoint. We came in at 6pm on Wednesday evening and were seated right away. They easily accommodated our large group. The server brought waters and even brought the kids their waters in cups with lids. The chips and salsa were bottomless and each one of us were given our own small bowl of salsa. The chips tasted fresh and were warm and thin. Salsa was mild enough for the 2 year old but other bottles of hot sauce were on the tables. My daughter and I split the Celaya Dinner combination and added one extra puffy taco so we could both try one. There was plenty of food for the both of us. The kids plates were generous, full-sized portions and were a bargain at about $4. The service was friendly and extremely fast. We were in and out in about 45 minutes. We stopped here for lunch one day during our cross country car trip. We have a dog with us and were uncertain if the restaurant could accommodate us. Luckily they did with with one picnic table outside the front door. The service was fast, efficient and thoughtful...the waitress offered water to go. The food fresh and tasty. The veggie quesadilla was filled with spinach, broccoli, mushrooms, onions with a side of delicious guacamole and Pico de Gallo. This place was great! read more

The food was just okay. My mother's taco bowl for her taco salad was almost burnt, and for some reason they put broccoli (??!!) on my veggie quesadilla - which I've never heard of in my life in a Mexican dish (that part was weird). Otherwise, the food was okay - not amazing, but fine. My mom ended up with a stomach bug later that night and into the next day, after eating their food, with nausea and vomiting. I have no idea if it was related to the food or not. The worst part was the absolutely terrible lack of adhering to COVID precautions. Most of the staff wore no masks at all. Every waitress I saw, the cashiers, and most of the cook staff were maskless. None of the customers wore masks. No one was practicing social distancing. It was unbelievable and awful. I will not eat there again any time soon. read more

Chips and White Queso are always so good. It seems many times while going to Mexican restaurants, the chips are stale and not very enjoyable. However, El Celaya has some of the freshest chips around. We like to go in and get it just for an appetizer. read more

Always busy, always good, always right. Anything you order is going be good and you'll get it fast. Service is usually par, although they do have one server who acts as though she doesn't ever want to be there. Friendly people, food is hot but fast, and the atmosphere is comfortable. They have two TVs in the main dining area, no overly loud music, a larger seating area in the back, and of course the gum balls and toys up front for the kiddos. We regularly have the family meet there for meals and birthdays and my kids love the chip and cheese! Love Mexican food? Try this place. You'll be back! read more

This place is amazing, better than some of the Mexican I've had in Texas even. We were seated right away and everything came out super fast. This may be the first time I was ever unable to help finish the complementary chips and salsa since we had our food in less than ten minutes. I got the El Celaya quesadilla filled with grilled veggies and fajita chicken and it was the best one I've ever had. So much flavor and just the right size. My husband got the chalupas dinner and said the guacamole was awesome. You can't get a margarita here, but they have a small selection of domestic and Mexican beers in bottles. The salsa was a little weak for my tastes, but I love my food super spicy. Another plus is the prices; almost everything is under $10. I'd definitely come back. read more

El Celaya is easily the best Mexican restaurant in the area. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the menu prices have gone up quite a bit in the past year. El Celaya used to be a good place to get a good value and it's no longer that. The food is good; the prices are a bit high for what you get. Over years of eating at El Celaya, we've never had a bad meal or a problem with a server. The endless salsa and chips are a nice touch. The free refill on drinks is well done. I was passing through here on business. I felt out of my element here in OK but I found this place and felt very welcome. I ordered the chicken enchiladas, beans, and rice. I always taste the beans first at any Mexican restaurant just to test the waters. The beans were amazing! Tasted just like my grandmothers. Next rice was also great. The chicken enchiladas were just as good. This is a very good, clean, and excellent customer service establishment a must try if craving Mexican food!! read more

Excellent Mexican food and fast, friendly service! This place is packed everyday, but they have plenty of seating and seat and serve you quickly! There's nothing bad on the menu, but plenty of mouthwatering, delicious, fresh offerings to keep you coming back! I love the Cancun with a puffy taco, chicken enchilada, rice, beans, and a small guacamole salad! I also like to order my puffy taco with shredded beef for a tasty twist. Really hungry? Try the combination nacho! It's huge! Not only are the food and service wonderful here, but the prices are fantastic! I highly recommend El Celaya (obviously) and it's well worth the short drive from Fort Smith to Roland. Ok, so its not much to look at from the highway and the inside could use a nice reno.. but the food at El Celaya is absolutely AMAZING! Personally I recommend the #3 w/ yellow cheese sauce (combo enchilada's -beef & cheese, that comes with rice and beans; it costs a few cents more to add the yellow cheese sauce but is so worth it!) The staff are all very nice and courteous to guests, even though the place can get very busy at times. Their prices vary from lunch to dinner but are still relatively cheap at under $10 per order; which is great because their food is amazing!
