The food was ok, enchilada and taco were only meat, no lettuce/tomato. I was not a fan of the enchiladas tortilla, it wasn't moist nor sticky enough to hold it together. The sauce was tasty so I ate the meat with sauce, The cheese dip is worth the trip though. read more

We came as a large group, (we'd notified them ahead of time) and they had a long table ready for us. We had 3 dedicated waiters who were friendly and efficient. Food came quickly, and everyone seemed to enjoy their dishes. I personally had the Emily special with shrimp, it was delicious and I'll definitely order it again. Wow!! I think I have posted reviews for El Olvido before. Those experiences were the result of GrubHub deliveries. Those reviews were five stars, even though the food wasn't fresh and hot. The food then was great. Well, tonight we went to the restaurant for our 'date night.'. We found out they were rated Best Mexican restaurant in the River Valley. They deserve it. Service was fast and accurate. Every person, waiters, bussers, even the young lady who brought the chips and salsa checked on us. The dinners were delicious, my wife had enchiladas del mar. A beautiful presentation, I had parillados del mar, (like seafood fajitas). Both dinners were DELICIOUS!! Mexican food is a favorite of mine, wife's is a patty melt. I finished all of my dinner, she couldn't finish hers. Her final words as we left the restaurant, was if El Olvido served breakfast, we would stay overnight in the parking lot to get in there first thing in the morning. I am expected to mention the ambiance. The walls are display Mexican paintings, all of the chairs are colorfully stitched, even the high chair was painted! Several families with kids were there, everybody was friendly. We both have difficulty getting around, customers helped us get in and out of the restaurant. First time being in the area was craving some Mexican food. Came across this place and was pretty busy at the time we walked in. We weren't necessarily getting just asked how many and sat ourselves. I could tell they were understaffed because I mainly saw two people taking orders & serving as they were ready. As busy as they were, we got our drink orders taken and afterwards our meals. I could tell the waitress was overwhelmed. Our food didn't all came out at the same time but as I tried to ask for a refill our waitress was gone. I didn't have the chance to speak to her because she was too quick, nor asked if we needed anything else. I had the three shrimp tacos and came with a side of rice with cheese. I requested no cheese. The tortillas just were not it, I didn't like them definitely store bought because of the taste. Side note, plates were extremely hot. As if they were broiled and never have I experienced something like that. Quesadillas de birria were honestly not bad. Good flavor, a little greasy. It also came with a side of rice but requested no rice at the time. The consomé was a little bland. The parrillada del mar was okay, not the best could be better. This dish came with rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream over a bed of lettuce. Overall the food wasn't horrible I just think that it was more of the service not being the best. I used to know what Olvido meant, but I forgot. Mix the salsa picante with the mild salsa; dip it up with a big warm spoon shaped chip and you will be good to go. The red enchilada sauce here is more orange than red. A very mild tomato flavored sauce. Likely made from scratch with fresh Roma tomatoes; not tomato sauce from a can. A version that I have had before at other authentic traditional Mexican restaurants. It is good, but I prefer the dark red chili version. Everything was very fresh and flavorful. The taco and burritos were generously filled with seasoned meats. I had the pick three: taco, burrito, and a relleno w/beans and rice. The beans were a little thick and lacking flavor. The salsa picante brought them to life. I really enjoyed the meal. My wife had the Jack Special lunch which is a $6.99 bargain. Check the pictures. Both meals are recommended. Good meals on hot plates. Big menu with many options and bargain priced lunch specials. The freshly made food takes a while to make it out of the kitchen. The service is excellent. It is a clean comfortable restaurant with easy access on Rogers Ave. Extra parking area behind the building. Another great Mexican food option in Ft Smith. read more

El Olvido is relatively new to Fort Smith as it joins the several other Mexican restaurants in town. Pros: -Huge menu with lots of variety. There is something truly for everyone. It was difficult deciding what to order because there was so much to choose from. -Portions were generous. You definitely won't leave hungry. -Flavors were great and what you'd expect from a Mexican restaurant. Cons: -Service was so, so. We didn't have one set server. It seems like the employees share the tables. Unfortunately, this method left us needing service more than once without knowing who to ask. We often had to ask for refills (rather than the server just knowing to refill chips/drinks when empty) but we had to wait until we were approached by someone at random. -They don't have itemized receipts and they charge a fee if you don't pay cash. I ordered a small guacamole (4.99) and the pollo fundido (10.99) but my bill pre-tip was almost $19. I don't know where the extra charges came from unless the credit card charge was that significant. If I come back, I will definitely pay more attention during the checkout process. read more

I have wanted to try El Olvido since they opened but just got the opportunity. The food was great, the service was good and the atmosphere pleasant. There were just a few small things that kept this from being a five star experience. We were seated by the front door and swatted flies away our entire meal. The barrel chairs are aesthetically perfect but not super comfortable and difficult to move. I ordered a quesadilla fajita and it was one of the best I've eaten. It wasn't too greasy and the chicken had a good flavor, the cheese wasn't overpowering and it had enough vegetables in it. My only complaint was that I ordered it ala cart and was given rice. I don't eat rice and the upcharge to add rice was significant. Everyone in our group, which was rather large, was pleased with the food. read more

I ordered take out and chose Poncho Villa entree (described as a T-bone steak with 8 Shrimp) as well as the Flautas (w/Chicken) along with some Chips & Queso. Additionally, I asked the lady on the phone for a recommendation and she asked if I ever tried the Birria Tacos. Since I hadn't, I decided to add two to the order. The bill totaled a $44. and change which was higher than my calculation (from their website pricing) and a receipt was not in the bag. After trying the first bite of my steak, I wondered what it had done to deserve such abuse! It was way over cooked (for my taste) and about as tough as nails. In addition, I only found 5 shrimp in the dish which was a little disappointing because they were very tasty. The saving grace was just about everything else. My favorite was the Birria Tacos that were recommended and my husband said the flautas were good, as well. However, we both found the queso to be a little on the bland side ... overall, I would say it was just okay ... maybe a 3.3 out of 5. To be fair, I'd say there was more that I liked, then I didn't like but when the main event is a disappointment, it tends to shadow everything else in the meal. I do intend on visiting the restaurant since it's in my hometown and I'm hoping for a better in person experience. read more
