Half of one of my orders were left out. It was ordered online, so refunding should have been easy. However, when management can't grasp the fact that their employees may make mistakes. They instead blame the customer and put the onus for fixing the problem on the customer. This manager needs to be moved to bus boy or something because they don't know what they are doing. EDIT: also found a bunch of black hairs and n the food. We don't have black hair. Superb place to get some sort of sickness. read more

Wow! Very impressed with this place. First, the chips and salsa were delicious. Our server was very generous with them too. For our mains, I got street tacos with rice and charro beans, and my husband got the rancheros enchiladas with rice and refried beans. Absolutely delicious! Our server recommended the charro beans to me and they were great! The total was $37 for both of our mains, an horchata, and a Dr Pepper. If only the service at the Rogers La Huerta was as good as their food. Amazing, tasty food but the wait staff is either very forgetful or they don't care if they forget to bring out your full order - and they're quite unapologetic about it. I'd say it's because it's crowded but the last few times we've gone in they weren't busy at all and we barely ever saw our waiter if only to bring out missing food and hand us our ticket without a word. I never leave reviews and always respect servers but unfortunately we find ourselves getting ignored a lot at this location. The Greenwood Rd and Towson locations are much more friendlier and will acknowledge you're a paying customer. read more

Stopped here for lunch during our honeymoon and we loved everything about it. The wait staff was very fast and efficient- our server quickly got our orders in and the queso and drinks out within a minute. Someone grabbed my dirty plate just as I began to set it aside. The food came out separately, but fresh according to when it was ready. This place is good but there are little things that could really ruin your appetite. The worst part about this place is that they do not cut the fat off the meat. EVERY single time I eat there I get a meat with a big chunk of fat on it. I have complained to management a couple of times and they have not fixed the issue after 5 months of complaining. Carving Mexican food while in Fort Smith, Arkansas... We were looking for, what I have come to know as Southern American ~ Mexican food. It's a mixture of middle and northern Mexican style cooking with some Southern American influence. It's most certainly not Tex-Mex, nor is it Ecuadorian, not Oaxacan, not Southern Mexico, not Ecuadorian nor Columbian. Southern American Mexican food is know for their Blanco Queso, Blended Salsa's, Chili Relleno's, Yummy Steak Fajitas and their ala-taco-bell-esk beef and mushy brown beans cooked with loads of fat. This particular La Huerta Mexican Restaurant is a very nice restaurant, fairly new and very clean. You can tell it has been other restaurants prior but they have done a nice job with some new paint and decor to make it La Huerta's! There are other La Huerta Restaurants in the Fort Smith area, but this is their newest location. I believe they are all owned by the same family. They offer a huge menu of the traditional Southern American ~ Mexican dishes with a few unique options at very reasonable prices. Ok ~ it's tasty food really cheap! We started off with a huge bowl of their tasty Queso Blanco cheese dip. Mixture of monterey jack cheese, cream, and green chilies. This is the tastiest cheese dip and you can only find it in Mexican restaurants throughout the South... We also had some very tasty Chips and Guacamole. We ordered their "Special Dinner" ~ chalupa, taco, chile relleno, tamale, enchilada, sides of sour cream, salsa, jalapenos, rice and beans. They had to bring it out on two plates all for $8.99! Sure it's cheap but it was tasty too! The chili relleno is the star of this dish. It had a light breading, plenty of cheesy goodness inside with a very good sauce on top. The tamale was the only disappointment here, but then again I've never had good tamales at any Mexican restaurant in the South. Tamale's are much better in the Mid-West and West coast. The taco salad is good with your choices of protein, chicken, steak or taco-bell-type of beef added to the salad. The Steak, Chicken and Shrimp Fajita's were outstanding ~ flavorful and huge in portions. If you're in Fort Smith and looking for some really tasty Southern Mexican food, give La Huerta Mexican Restaurant a try. You won't be disappointed! read more

So, I'm not from this part of the United States but I come here to visit family and this is one of the first restaurants I ate at while back here. My first impression was that it was basic. Lacks flavor and spice. There is one item in particular that I couldn't get enough of though and that was Stephens, Stevens (?) special. Wow. Who knew that rice, fajita chicken meat and queso sauce together would make something so magical?! Every time I come back to Arkansas, I make it a point to order that special at least once during my visit. My husband had he beef fajitas so I had to taste and I was disappointed. I orded two chili rellenos, the proper and authentic chili rellenos are roasted put in batter and fried then cut open and filled with cheese then is topped with sauce and sprinkled with cheese. I got a chili roasted w very little batter cut open flat topped. layed on a bed of rice with sauce and topped with queso. This was slop NOT authentic. The sauce had NO flavor. My wife ordered beef enchiladas authentic enchiladas would be filled with shredded beef not hamburger meat. The sauce had no flavor again a plate of slop. The Mexican rice was fresh served with a chimichanga and white cheese I put white cheese on the rice it was very very good the meat inside of the chimichanga was excellent it was seasoned very well it wasn't just cooked and put in there like at El Zarape everything was good on the dish my only suggestion is that they cook fresh the chimichanga because when you fry a chimichanga it is supposed to be crunchy and hot and it wasn't just The ends were a little crunchy but if any have been Fry fresh it would've been crunchy and hot but it was still good read more

La Huerta is a pretty great place for sit down American Mexican food if you're tired of Taco Bell. My favorite place to sit is at the bar; Cartoon Network, and Booze. I've tried their Sophia Special, which comes with 2 quesadillas filled with spinach and cheese, and a side of rice. It was just probably that night, but I didn't think it was as great as their La Huerta Burrito from a prior visit. Their Margaritas are excellent. Just the right amount of kick and tanginess. Their deserts are a must try. The sopapillas with ice cream is oh dam, amazing: Melted butter, honey, ice cream, and whipped cream. Fried ice cream is amazing too: Deep fried tortilla, under a ball of ice cream rolled in crushed cinnamon toast crunch, topped with whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate. Nom nom nom. OMG! We got into Ft Smith late. The lady at our hotel (Double Tree) suggested La Huerta. We quickly walked there. We cut it close arriving at 8:45 when they closed at 9 due to COVID. They still served us. Cheese quesadilla, hubs got the roast beef buritto, and I got the chicken quesadilla (from the apps list). All delicious! Definitely recommend read more

I have ate here several times. Today I was very disappointed. I always order the same thing two beef enchiladas with red says and rice on the side. And we always have cheese dip. Well cheese dip was like water, my order had white melted cheese instead of red sauce. I called the waiter over he took back to kitchen, well when he returned, the white cheese had been scrapped off and red sauce added, I could still see white cheese. My enchiladas were made with flour tortillas and not the usual corn. I did mention to cashier, I just wanted her to mention this to cook or manager. News flash - Mexican restaurant in small town Arkansas serves bland versions of mexican dishes!! Alert!! Well, duh..I have come across this phenomenon at the mexi places here in Florida as well. The restaurant really has no choice in this matter, since the bulk of the customers demand bland. However, the key to upgrading is in your hand. Most places, La Huerta included, keep a special batch of "extra hot" salsa in the back, normally only available on request. La Huerta's secret stash is killer! I blended it with some of the house salsa and created a custom seasoning which can then be applied liberally to the food. Result: Kickass. The chips come to your table hot and fresh, always a plus. The chimichanga I had contained perfectly cooked chicken. The rice and beans were passable, but everything was made amazing when the custom salsa blend was added. Once again, Arkansas fails to deliver good food. I ordered the Enchiladas de Mexicana. It came with one beef, one chicken, and one cheese enchilada with sides of rice and refried beans. The word bland is way too kind to describe the food here. In fact, I've had much better Mexican food from a taco truck in California. I'm not in California but rather Arkansas so maybe this is what is considered good Mexican food. If I'm very back in Fort Smith and want Mexican food, I will not come here. Avoid this place at all costs. The only difference between La Huerta and Taco Bell is someone takes your order. The only reason La Huerta did not get a single star was for the price. Okay...not sterling, but not awful either. Staff is nice, food was decent and beer was semi-cold. I seated myself at the bar (since I was flying solo). Bar tender is nice, but other staff members continue to slam menus on the bar to my left. Are they pissed at me? Well, all except for the cute hostess who is fanning me while adding inserts to the menus - aaaaaah!!! Chips and salsa are okay - again, nothing out of the ordinary. I am noticing the cilantro in the salsa, which is nice. My main course was the Guadalajara, a combination of a chicken burrito and a chicken enchilada covered in a red sauce, sour cream, guacamole and pico del gallo. It was a generous portion and the food was quite tasty! I was tossing this back with a Corona Familiar. Again, my beer was good; but, it is a large, bottled beer, so it could and should have been colder. Bottom line, worth the visit. But, I think this restaurant has much potential to be more specialty and less "chain" in it's mentality...if it dares to try to step it up. read more

My first impression of any Mexican food restaurant is always based on the chips and salsa. Their salsa was fantabulous. The chips were warm and thin crisp. I personally don't like the really thick chips. So thank you La Huerta. Our waiter was quick and efficient. He ensured all drinks were full (a must for the hubby) and restocked chips & salsa as needed (a must for me). I ordered a cheese enchilada with rice and beans (my usually at most Mexican Restaurants). The enchilada was average but the rice was excellent. I'm big on rice, so this made the trip worth. Best of all the prices were very cheap. Of course, that's speaking in the context of someone from California that's use to paying more. Excellent choice for the night. read more

I'm a meat and vegetable person...I got the double fajitas (twice)...it truly is a double serving. The bacon was super salty, but overall they were pretty standard fajitas - just meat and veggies like I wanted. The servers were extremely responsive and polite. This was THE place our family loved going, whenever we craved mexican....at least two to three times a month. It was also the only place I wanted to go for my birthday dinners. Service is always on point; I have zero complaints about that. We got the same thing each time, but the last few times we went, the steak they use in my husband and daughter's favorite meal was more gristle than meat. We knew they had changed the cut of meat to something cheaper and of lower quality. When we spoke up, we were told that it hadn't been changed. We know better. Also, the seasoning was off. Waiter did not come back for quite some time so I ate the beef. I was not impressed with the level of customer service we received. This used to be one of my all time favorite places to eat.
