Server He did not say his name. He was not pushy and returned to get our order after we had time to look it over. Ambiance It's a texmex open area restaurant. A nice arrangement of cultural music was nice. It's kinda nice to see the staff interact with the regulars. Calling them by name even asking if the customer wanted their usual. Food Chips n salsa were promptly served. The chips did not taste fresh, but the salsa had a very good flavor. The fajita burrito arrived well prepared. It was very good with a lot of flavor and spice. The lettuce and rice were a nice addition. The rice did not have any real flavor which was disappointing, but not enough to curtail the enjoyment of the meal. The quesabirria was served juicy and tender with lots of flavor. Overall This restaurant is a well kept secret. The food is good. The service, not so much. All things considered. This is a great stop for some good Mexican food. 3 of us went to lunch here today and it was absolutely fantastic!!! Chips and Salsa were served immediately & we added an order of cheese dip to go with the chips. Excellent cheese dip, hot and not spicy. 1 ordered the Speedy Gonzales which is 1 Taco, 1 Enchilada & Rice. He thought it was delicious. 1 ordered a Beef Chimichanga that came with Beans & Rice. She loves this dish. I ordered the Enchiladas Del Mar which was 2 Flour Tortillas filled with Crab, Scallops & Shrimp served with Rice & Guacamole Salad. Ordered a side of Refried Beans. Excellent, excellent Mexican food! I had the burrito carnitas, and I like the edges of the carnitas a little crispy, so asked for that and received some of the best carnitas I've had, done perfectly. The tortilla surrounded ONLY carnitas - no rice or beans or veggies as filler. The house frozen margarita was also excellent, and on inexpensive special during the weekdays. I've encountered a lot of margaritas that simply tasted like frozen limeade with very little alcohol since moving to NW Arkansas. This one had some taste to it and was not overly sweet. The complimentary chips were very fresh, and the salsa, though nothing special or spicy, was fine. Cannot wait to return! Worth the hour drive from where we live. read more

We were in the mood for Mexican food. I have been looking at the menu and the reviews at La Mesa for a little while. We decided to go on a Saturday at around 4ish PM. We got there and it was pretty quiet. They have a bunch of TV's inside and were playing some sports and some other stuff. They also had music playing( a bit loud, but they eventually turned it down) People started to come in as we were leaving and it was getting packed. We were quickly greeted by our server and they brought some chips and salsa rather quickly. Asked us what we wanted to drink. The wife ordered a coke and I ordered a beer. They have 1.99 16 ounces draft beer during the weekend. I got a Modelo. It was ice cold and fresh. I asked if they had hot salsa and brought me some. The chips were hot and fresh and the salsa very tasty. The hot salsa I asked for was some of the best I had. I could of drank that stuff. It was hot but not crazy hot but oh was it tasty. I ordered the parrillada Jalisco and my wife ordered the Nicole special. We also ordered 3 hard shells beef tacos. It took very little time and the food made it to our table. The food was amazing, fresh and tasty. The portions are very generous and the price is great. Our server Juan made our experience top-notch. Making sure we were pleased with our food and even showing us some of the other foods they serve and what he likes from La Mesa. I can tell that he is proud of the food they serve. My mom treated us to this authentic Mexican food restaurant. The meal and service was fantastic! We ordered the Parrillada Jalisco and it was amazing. It has a little bit of everything. Chicken, shrimp, chorizo, steak, rice, beans, guacamole, grilled peppers, grilled onions, and pico de Gallo, and 4 tortillas for only $13!!! Plenty of food and it's all flavorful. The staff was extremely friendly and service was fast. We also had their frozen house margaritas and they were delicious! I am definitely coming again! La Mesa, I came here twice, once with a large group and the other time just my mom,dad and me. Both times the servers were fantastic, the atmosphere was good as well. La mesa is at the old Bob and Ellie's diner, they have change the decor of the place and given the whole restaurant a complete remodel. Now on the the food, their food is good, but sadly nothing out of this world. It's the same Mexican cuisine that u will find in La Huerta, el Lorito,or Zapatas. Please understand that I am not saying their food is bad in the contrary it's pretty good. It's just nothing new, they do have some dishes that are different but everything else is pretty much the same. U have ur chimichangas,carnitas,fajitas,flautas,chicken and cheese dishes and so on. I have try their fajitas and they are pretty good. I also like the fact that they are close to my home. Their salsa is pretty good and overall experience is okay. Give them a try but do not think that u will get authentic Mexican food here but rather the same stuff in town. I had Enchiladas Rancheras (cheese enchiladas topped with chicken cooked with tomatoes, onions, and bell peppers with white cheese sauce). My husband had the Enchiladas Del Mar ( stuffed with crab meat, scallops and shrimp covered in white cheese sauce). Both selections were excellent.
