I went to La Mer on the day before thanksgiving with an appointment. I didn't have to wait too long to be put in a chair and have my feet soaking. However, I waited long enough for the water to get cold. No problem, I know they're busy. My nail tech was funny and personable. I had my polish removed and cuticles (and some skin) trimmed. Then some leg scrub and lotion, then a hot towel. Then proceeded to paint my nails. Unfortunately, he didn't paint the ends of the nails. And I didn't notice until I was ready to leave. So I painted them myself. When I went to pay, I was shocked to be charged $35. Online their prices stated $18 for a basic pedicure. So I was pretty disappointed. The salon was extremely pretty and comfortable. But next time I'll check the prices before I get any service done. read more

Excellent. Being from Northeastern region (CT, NJ, NYC) we know what a real SPA pedicure is & this place does too. FINALLY found a place in the area that gets it. Clean & open space. Nice pedicure massage chairs. Great selection of polish types, gel colors and options. Constable manicure big chairs. Not tiny slippery stools. Hand washing station too and a restroom. Ambient music and videos playing. Parking is a big lot shared with Harris teeter grocery store so it's busy but you'll find parking. Very convenient location to everything. Wax of brows and lip experience was perfect. Excellent shaping and attention to the detail. Patient and nice staff. My assigned tech was fantastic and I'm almost afraid to put her name out there for the fact I may find it difficult to secure her but now that I've put forward a regular cadence of appointments (lol) I'll share that JASMINE is one of the, if not the, best techs I've found in Wilmington. I have been going to this nail salon for a year but will no longer return after my recent experiences. They are inconsistent with their pricing. 2 weeks ago I wanted my gel polish removed. When I checked out they charged me for a manicure. The male manager was rude and insisted I had a manicure. When I told him I did not, he got the technician who said I had one. I told her what she did was not a manicure. I've had many manicures and know what they entail. Yesterday the nail tech tried to upsell me a nail strengthener. She said it would be $15 but would knock off $5. I was getting gel polish on for $25. The last time I did math $10+$25=$35. When I asked how much everything would be( gel on with strengthener), she said $50. I'm done. read more

Was able to take me as a walk on which was great. But they didn't remove my old clear polish and did my whole pedi with it on until I pointed out (through a rough language barrier) that she needed to remove it before putting the new polish. All she kept doing was filing the top with the block. Finally I pointed to the acetone on the cart and the other girl next to me helped tell her to remove my old polish. And she didn't put my flip flops on my feet before she painted them. Got my brows done and the wax was so hot I was sure it was burning my skin. I was red for about 2 hours after the waxing. It's convenient so I'll probably be back but I'll be sure to dab some colored polish on to make sure they actually remove it first. Won't get waxed again though. read more

I came in for a gel manicure. The guy put foil on my fingers to remove the old polish and went over to work on someone else who just walked in. I didn't realize he was not going to come back to do my manicure. Three people who walled in after me were getting their service while I waited over 20 minutes!!! I got up and walked out! I LOVE my nails after going to Club Noire!! Tina did a wonderful job with shaping, coloring and painting my nails! Do not go here. I repeat -- do not go here. I usually get my nails done every 2-3 weeks on the west coast and I'm here visiting for holidays. They ruined my nails. I mean - destroyed them - ruined them. I'm incredibly disheartened because it takes me so long to grow nails. See the photos attached. I walked in and sat where directed. The gal asked if I wanted to keep "long nails." I said yes, thinking she meant she wouldn't file them much. I wasn't paying attention -- she filed away my long nails to the tip of my fingers and then pulled out acrylics! I asked what she was doing. She said I wanted long nails. I told her she needs to ask people if they want acrylics. That's different from asking how you want them filed. She then prepped my (now ridiculously short) nails for the Dip manicure -- but didn't use a UV light between coats. That meant the dip would fall apart after a few days if I kept it. I was so frustrated I told her to take off the dip she was putting on and I was going to leave. Further, their equipment is incredibly dirty. They use used file boards on me and also a metal drill filer that doesn't look like it's been cleaned ever. The drill bits were saved in an old cough drop container. I take ownership in this over not paying as close attention as I should or could have from the start. But you should be able to go into a nail salon and relax/turn your brain off. Not have to monitor quality and cleanliness of work and tools. I wish I could give zero stars. Not 1 star. The tops of my nails also hurt because she filed the tops so thin. My experience at La Mer Nails was wonderful! I called ahead to make sure there was availability and they were able to accommodate me quickly. Being that this was my first visit at this salon, I took my chances with a nail technician. I was so pleased with Tam and my pedicure! I chose the herbal pedicure because I love the addition of the hot rock massage. Tam took her time and I was absolutely relaxed by the time my pedicure was over. I also had Tam wax my eyebrows and she did a great job. She listened that I wanted a very natural look and my brows look great! I wish they had white wine available today as that would have sent my relaxing experience over the top. I can't wait to go back for more pampering! read more

SO SLOW!! I have gotten my nails done over a hundred times and it has never taken me AN HOUR AND 45 MINUTES for an acrylic fill in. The lady who did them also said she was "scared" to do my nails!!! She then cut my skin while filing and didn't even say anything. Absolutely awful. I decided to go here because it is closer to my house but what a mistake. I hate leaving negative reviews but I was so frustrated with this salon. I have had a REALLY hard time finding someone to do acrylic. I don't want Gel X, I don't want dip, I want acrylic. So after trying several salons closed by I branched out and called first. I asked very specifically if they do acrylic nails. Even more specifically said I do not want dip or gel. The woman on the phone told me yes. So I arrived for my appointment, the tech started on my nails and then said, "I have something better for you that you'll love. Gel X better than acrylic, you will like." Exhausted and already started I let her continue. I should've walked out then and there! Why would you lie to someone?! I made the effort to call, was very clear on my wants/expectations and SHE LIED! So I went 20 min out of my way, passing 6 other salons to once again NOT get what I asked for. Then to top it off, they were extremely bulky. So I'm guessing not as strong as acrylic so she made them much thicker to try and accomplish the same effect? Only they were hideous and still not as strong. The started breaking off and chipping in a week. I can go 3 weeks with acrylic no problem. So I did not have a good finished product but I'm the most upset about being lied to. read more

I have been going to La Mer for years and the service and care is consistently top notch! I've seen many of the very talented staff and every time, both pedicures and gel manicures last many weeks. This was my first time visiting here. I love the location as it is adjacent to a lot of things in the area. We did walk ins and Hannah did a phenomenal job on my nails. She was very thorough and really good! The place is cute and very clean. The pedicure chairs look great, too!one of my favorite things is their beautiful menu of services. I'm not one to write bad reviews, but after reading some others here, I figured I would second some others' experiences. I went here on a whim because my usual place was unexpectedly closed, and asked for a mani and pedi. The first thing was that, when I asked for just a regular mani/pedi, the guy doing my nails, made some comment like "oh, you don't want gel? They won't last." Which, yes, but I'm on a budget, and I didn't know what to expect from a place I hadn't been to before. The pedi went okay, though it was a little painful at times. It was when I went to sit down for the mani that the issues really started. For one, he asked again if I didn't want to do something else or a "prettier color", which, no, I didn't, I like the color I chose. Then, while trimming my nails, I noticed that they were very sloped, especially my thumbs. When I pointed it out (politely), he seemed annoyed that he had to fix them, which to him, meant casually rubbing a file across them. I just gave up eventually on that, because I absolutely hate feeling like I'm causing a scene. Then came polish. I wish there was a nicer way to say this, but the end result just looks amateurish. There's nails that look bumpy and uneven, that have sloppy paint near the cuticle, or have air bubbles on them. During the mani, he turned my hand to a better angle, and accidently smeared some wet polish from my thumb with the palm of his hand. Which isn't a big deal, stuff happens, but he acted like I had done it, and his solution to fixing it was to use water to nudge the existing paint back into place. I'm sure there are some stylists there who are very talented, and very nice, but my experience was pretty terrible from start to finish. There is one other thing, which I have saved for the end because I debated writing it at all, for fear that it would play into some terrible stereotypes and beliefs some bigoted people hold onto. When I went to sit down at the beginning of my appointment, an older female stylist came up to check the pedicure bath, looked at my feet, and said something in Vietnamese (I think, it wasn't Japanese or Chinese, because I would have recognized those) that I couldn't understand, but that got a big laugh from all the stylists in the room. Now, I have no way of knowing what was said, and literally it could have been about anything, but I felt self-conscious and on edge immediately. Even if my appointment had gone swimmingly and my nails looked amazing, I don't think I would consider coming back, solely because of that. As it is, I definitely won't be. read more

The salon took me as a walk in today and were so polite. My tech, Hannah did a fantastic job on my nails, and then gave me one of the best pedicure I've had in a long time. Appointments don't mean a thing. I called at 4p and asked when they could do 2 pedicures. I was told 4:30. I showed up at 430 to see them seat 4 people while we were choosing our colors. I knew that wasn't a good sign. At 5p I asked how much longer and I was assured 5 mins. Well, that 5 mins turned into another 30 and we were finally sat at 530. I am a patient person but my time is valuable and to be an hour off is terrible estimation on their part. If I wasn't with my daughter who was really looking fwd to getting her nails done, I would've walked out. Worst prt, no apologies. I will probably go back to my favorite spot across town, would probably end up quicker. read more

Hannah was great but now she's gone with no date of return, which probably means never ! Do not go here if you are picky about your nails or getting acrylic !! I called and specifically asked for two certain people . He quickly said yes they are here and to come in now . Once arrived they looked at me like I had three eyes and said neither are there but that she can take me ( not sure of name ) . I was in a bind so I accepted . Showed her a picture of what I wanted and again they said they could do that. My problem with these places is ... if you can't really do something simple like in the pictures just say so and don't waste my time and $. My nails were sore after from how much she drilled I'm assuming . It took forever for her to do the easiest French design because she just couldn't T do it . She had to have someone else step in. I went for a gel manicure starting with healthy length natural nail. The lady who did my nails filed them way too short, there are the thinnest possible strips of white left on my nails and on one of my thumbs she filed down to nothing. She used a nail dremel with a sanding bit on my nails and scratched the tops and then still used a rough buffer on the tops. My nails are now ruined and throbbing. The gel polish application was terrible and was left bumpy, with bubbles and 7 layers of polish thick. I removed the polish a few hours later. This salon and the tools they use are not clean. The lady who did my nails was clearly not trained well or did not care, either way I will not be returning and will be warning anyone I know to not visit. read more

I went in for a much needed manicure and pedicure and this place did not disappoint. I got the signature pedicure and it was by far the best massage I've ever had with a pedicure. I felt so relaxed afterwards. Prices are pretty similar to other places in the area and the actual painting of the nails was very well done. Highly recommend. read more
