    Conchitas Campesinas.

I found this new Colombian spot in Doral, they opened 2 months ago. It is a large place, nicely decorated, what a nice surprise when I tried this new spot, delicious and huge portions. Great atmosphere, and they have huge parking. As soon as you arrive you are welcomed by the hostess and directed to your table, our waitress was very attentive, great attitude, and great service. They have a full bar and nice cocktails, the only issue was the time to receive our drinks, they arrived when we were finishing the appetizers. We had conchitas campesinas, delicious fried plantain filled with pulled beef cooked in tomato sauce, an excellent appetizer. Then we had the special mondongo and tenderloin in pepper sauce, both entrees were superb. No room for desserts.

We went to La Matriarca to celebrate a friend's birthday dinner on Saturday night. The ambience was excellent with live music and the nice lighting. The decor was nice too. The issue with this place is the quality of the food and the slow service. I ordered the tocino al cajon but it was too dry and tasteless which it is weird considering is the tastier part of the pork. It felt like it was not done the same day and they reheat it. We also ordered the "entraña Certified Angus" and it came cold and overcooked (ordered medium). The worst entraña I have tried in a restaurant. I asked the waitress to bring a new one medium cook and she say it will take very long. We originally waited for the food to arrive 90 minutes. For the water refill I had to go to the bar myself to get it because it never came after asking for it 3 times. The restaurant has plenty of parking, live music and great ambience. But they are not at the moment prepare to deliver quality food and good service especially with large crowds. I will definitely not come back to this place for the food.

Pros- The food is amazing ! I ordered the bandeja paisa and was not disappointed. The portion was well worth the cost. The staff was pleasant and made recommendations when we were unsure of what to order. Food came out in a timely manner. Cons- The Ambience is nice but in my opinion the live music was way too loud and unnecessary for lunch hours. It was awkward to have a singer be interrupted by all the people singing "happy birthday" every few minutes. Our table and plates were all uneven so everything wobbled for some reason. Also, their take out portions are WAY smaller for some reason. Additional note: They have a person walk around taking photos of your table then bring back a framed picture during your meal charging $20. I was not a fan of this and would prefer they ask up front or don't do it at all.

Since my mom chose La Matriarca for her birthday (December 2023) I was truly hoping that I would love it. However, when it came to the food, my family and I could not give this place more than a 2.5-3 star rating. I'd also like to mention that my mother and grandmother are Colombian immigrants, and I am immensely proud of my Colombian heritage, which makes it even harder for me to say that there are much better Colombian restaurants in Miami. Because my natural bias would love to rate all Colombian spots with a full 5 star rating. Parking is abundant and free, which is unusual to find in Miami, but not at La Matriarca. The atmosphere and space of the restaurant were great, and it was extremely clean. Bathrooms were conveniently located for all who dined in. The service was great; the servers do care for the people who dine-in and they try to attend to your every need. That was a highlight. Now onto the food. At a Colombian restaurant an expectation of mine is for the 'bandeja paisa' to be spot-on, and as close to the traditional dish as possible. The *carne molida* in the bandeja was very salty and moist in consistency (more like a Cuban style picadillo but overly salty), and the rice had so many hard grainy pieces it was so difficult to consume. The frijoles were fine. Overall I would not order this dish here. The fried items were fine. The empanadas for example, was the dish that I could have eaten the most of, but I don't just go to a Colombian restaurant for typical fried items, there are so many Colombian bakeries in Miami that I can go to with much better empanadas, and get more for the price as well. The pechuga de pollo was good, but again, for a Colombian restaurant and for $20.00 we could have gotten more food elsewhere and that was even tastier. My mom said the mondongo was good, but it was nothing special in terms of taste. All in all, the food could have been so much better for a Colombian restaurant, and I went in with my family expecting so much more. I wish La Matriarca so much success, and hope they consider enhancing their food so it could be another amazing Colombian restaurant in the Miami/Doral area.

Excellent Food! The service was excellent too! It has live music on weekends. Cocktails are amazing! The staff is really friendly!

It's a great place, with delicious Colombian & Peruvian fusion food, very friendly customer service and spacious accommodations. They have a full liquor bar & Mariana, the bartender, is super friendly and nice. They got lots of TVs to watch sporting events & the music is festive Latino sounds so eat some Ceviche de Chicharrón, have a cocktail and enjoy

I really wanted to love this place. The ambiance is great, the music is fun, the place itself is spacious and pretty. The service was okay. I do think our waitress had a lot of tables, but she left us the food & didn't really come by much. The food was alright, no one in the table was wow'ed by anything. The bar needs work, the refajo (beer and soda) was flat, the rum and coke, flat. The place has potential but in our table of 6 none of us were eager to be back.

Great atmosphere and exquisite Colombian typical food. Menu has great inventions that mix South American and Asian dishes such as the pork Ceviche. The service was excellent however a bit disorganized when we first arrived. The hiccup was forgiven once the food started coming out. Definitely a place for couples, family or the dining connoisseur.

Came to this location with a group of 7 friends in which 5 are Colombian and one was visiting from Colombia so we wanted to bring her to a Colombian spot. For starters, although our section was pretty busy our waitress was not the most attentive. We ordered zero appetizers and one of our group members received their entree about 15/20 min before anyone else received their food and she had ordered a lomo saltado which isn't an easy dish. The drinks we ordered varied and all were watered down. The food was pretty mediocre except the chicharrón al cajón. The arroz chaufa which was my plate was pretty decent. They do have live music on Saturdays and the ambience is pretty cultured but low chances of me returning.

I really had high hopes for this new spot in Doral because I love restaurants with live music. Unfortunately, from the beginning, our experience was not the best. Once we sat down, we ordered drinks. I had a passionfruit margarita. It took about 30 minutes to get my drink and once it was brought to our table, it tasted like your juice. I think the alcohol is watered down or they put almost no alcohol in the drink. Everyone else at our table ordered different drinks, and the consensus was the same. All of them were horrible. I will say the two positive points of this experience was the appetizers and my main course. I did like the Conchita's campesinas which is beef served in a plantain basket. I thought it could've used a little bit more seasoning, but it was still good. Once we ordered our main courses, I took another 45 minutes till we got our food. For my main course, I ordered a Lomo Saltado, and I will complement them and saying this is one of the better Lomo Saltados I've ever had. My wife ordered the bandeja paisa and it was very average. For a restaurant with several locations in Colombia, I would've thought this would've been a home run for them. The band started on time and got the crowd up and dancing, but something happened and after the first 45 minutes of them playing and they didn't even come back on stage or tell the audience that they were leaving. If this restaurant has any hope of surviving in the very competitive Miami market, they have a lot of kinks to work out. The servers are trying to do the best they could but it was understaffed, the bartender were horrible, and the chefs took forever to bring out the food. We were hit with a $400 bill and honestly we all agreed that we would never be back. I really hope they are just working out the kinks since they've been opened a month and get back on track on every level.

The best chicharrones I've ever had! They call the chicharrones "Tocino en Cajon" - and it is fitting that they don't use the same name that is commonly known everywhere else because this is not the same thing that you will get everywhere else! Phenomenal and a must try. I didn't take a pic because I was there for a business lunch, and didn't want to have my phone out. But, their Google listing has plenty of pictures that do the dishes justice. I had the Bandeja Paisa which was a great deal for the price- big portion, lots of flavor. I cannot attest to the authenticity of this place. I am not super familiar with Colombian cuisine, or the food of the Medellin region that the restaurant originates from. But I can say that the experience was a delight. The service was exceptional, only slowing down once we had already received our meals. The decor and ambience is welcoming, spacious, bright, & colorful. We were there for a business lunch, but I could easily see someone going there for dinner. The restaurant seems to be set up for night entertainment with a stage and a large backlit monitor. But even without the entertainment, it was a joy. I am not sure why they aren't many yelp reviews yet seeing as their Google listing is well populated with both reviews and pictures. They are a new restaurant in the area replacing Shortys BBQ, which operated successfully for well over a decade. Despite being new, it is a welcome addition to this area with plenty of traffic. The only trouble we had was with their QR code accessible menu. It appears like that is the only menu they have available, and if your signal is not working, or is weak, the menu might be difficult to navigate. But, if your phone signal is working fine, the menu is colorful and easy to understand, reflecting the spirit of the restaurant. They do automatically include gratuity - so be mindful of that. Definitely will return to try more of their menu & try some of their cocktails.

As a Colombian living in Canada is a blessing to find a restaurant like this which makes me feel like home. The restaurant is nicely decorated with vibrant colors, great service and excellent food quality. This is my second time here during this short visit to Miami and this time I tried the lunch special during the week. Each dish is about 12 dollars during the lunch special! This is incredible for the quality you get. I greatly recommend this place to anyone ( regardless of your nationality). Best flavor from South America! Latinos del mundo you will feel like if it was your mom cooking your food!

Unfortunately, what followed was a surprisingly disappointing experience -- and one that became harder to justify with every course. The service was slow and disorganized, our sangrias had to be returned, and the mixed ceviche was a very small portion with mostly tiny shrimp and very little fish. Then came the $110 parrillada. We ordered the meat medium, but much of it arrived overcooked and dry. Served on a hot platter, it continued cooking at the table. To make matters worse, it had taken nearly an hour to arrive, so sending it back simply wasn't an option we were willing to endure. The sides -- yuca, tostones, and fries -- were all underwhelming, and the sauces were so limited that we had to ask for more. Water wasn't replenished, and even the basic table service felt neglected. We eventually spoke with the manager, hoping for some acknowledgment of the experience. Instead, we were essentially told that we should have complained sooner. We explained that after waiting nearly an hour for our food, we weren't prepared to wait another hour for a replacement. We were offered complimentary desserts, but unfortunately, the churros were rubbery and seemed reheated, while the tres leches was just average. And then came the bill: nearly $200 for three people -- for lunch. Not dinner. Lunch. At that price, you expect the food, service, and overall experience to feel exceptional. Unfortunately, ours didn't come close. We didn't leave upset because the restaurant was expensive; we left disappointed because the experience simply didn't justify what we paid. We went in with high expectations and left feeling that Mordisco was not worth the price. Sadly, we won't be returning.
