Exactly what I was craving and Uber Eats delivered. Sancocho de res was a generous portion with a side of rice and lime. The corn was so sweet, which was a great surprise. Chunk of beef and several nuggets of starch. I like mine spicy, so a generous splattering if Tapatio had it on point. Savory and spicy! I love this cut of pork belly for Chicharron. The beef soup is terrible did not have any flavor it was water down, the container where the soup was served was in a round 24 oz container. Moreover, I have order ají and it was not added but I still was charged for it. Don't recommend this place at all this was my first time trying it and my last. read more

I love this place so much. I stumbled across this place on Uber eats and decided to try it and I've ordered so many times after that. Lol. The food here is so tasty and fresh. Today we went to pick up our food. We ordered the bandeja paisa and a baby churrasco. Wow, always a hit. Even something as simple as white rice is soooo flavorful. The meat was good, boyfriend said the chimichurri on his churrasco was great. We also had empanadas and buñuelos and they're soooo good. Their pique is amazing. Today was the first day we picked up our food and we met the owner and they were so nice. They even threw in a pan de Bono for free in our order. Was craving Colombian food when I discovered El Machetico. My boyfriend and I came by around 4 on a weekday. This hole in the wall was relatively packed with customers--some dining in and some taking food to go. We grabbed a menu at the front and skimmed over it. I knew I wanted a Bandeja Paisa $13.99 so we ordered that to share. Being extremely hungry, we made the mistake of ordering other things as well thinking that would not be enough which in fact it was. We also got a pan de bono, empanada, an extra chorizo, and the soup of the day which was lentils. OH MAN! The previous reviews were correct in that all the food here has a home style taste! The bandeja was delicious, an appropriate size, and smoky in flavor---fresh off the grill. The extra chorizo was huge and not really necessary for us to order especially since I didn't realize that the tasty beans that came with the bandeja would be served in a massive soup bowl. The lentils were on point and the arepa perfect. The only thing I did not like while here was their pan de bono and empanada but that was because they had been sitting out all day and not fresh.....understandable since they were closing soon. My boyfriends parents work in the area in which I will definitely be recommending this place for their lunch break and now only wish I worked as close! read more

Earlier Saturday morning I woke up with a craving for a buñuelos and empanadas, it had been following me all day so while I was at work I turned to Yelp to help me find a Colombian restaurant in the area. After finding El Machetico, I was so excited about trying all the antojitos but unfortunately I must be in the minority when it comes to the food here. I arrived at about 11am and the place was pretty quiet. There wasn't a menu listed anywhere that I saw and there wasn't much in the bakery case but I saw a few buñuelos, and pan de bonos. The cashier informed me they had fresh empanadas so I arrived right on time! In the end I ordered 3 buñuelos, 2 pan de bonos, and 4 empanadas. The buñuelos weren't my favorite, they were cold but I'm not a fan of the type of cheese they use, maybe they taste better fresh. The pan de bonos were delicious. They were a bit cold as well, but I popped it in the microwave when I got back to work and those were fantastic. The empanadas are supposed to be empanadas de carne but there wasn't much meat in the ones we ate, mostly potato. I know it's cost saving and all but man I was bummed about that. They were really fresh though so they were perfectly fried, steaming hot, and crunchy. I was disappointed that they didn't include the aji that normally is served with empanadas. It could've used that sharp acidic heat. Overall I'm not sure I'll come back, maybe to check out the regular menu food. I see they have glowing reviews about the food so hopefully my experience was just an off one. Maybe I caught them right after a rush or something. read more

Dear Sancocho, I'm not Colombian but the moment I sipped a spoonful of of you at El Machetico, I felt the paisa blood running through my veins. I initially burnt my tongue but ultimately decided that pain and sacrifice would be necessary in order to feed this addiction. The more I ate, the more I began to sweat profusely. Unwillingly and with a minor stint of depression, I backed off my plate several seconds to rest my palette. It was the longest 5 seconds of my life. During that brief moment though, something miraculous happened. I looked up at the TV inside the restaurant, and there he was, looking dead eye at the camera, James Rodriguez. I felt an immediate connection, a bond similar to a horn on a goats head, it's simply not coming off anytime soon. But I wasn't impressed, notably, he was playing a soccer match, and I, sitting there at El Machetico, with no actual machete in my hand but it would have been picturesque to have one. I put the focus back on my sancocho filled with papa, carrots, succulent meat, and corn. This plate kept me full for about 6 hours, but when hunger struck again, I thought of it. It still haunts my head, in a positive way. When I'm hangry, I think of it, and the hunger remains, but the anger dissipates. Why? Because this place is happiness. This place has a great home cook taste. I get food delivered from this place all the time. I also get the Cantina, which is a fixed meal they bring to your office. If that day they are serving something something i dont eat like pork, they are more than happy to change it for me at no charge. They customize every meal to the best of their abilities. Looooooove El Machetico! Every pay day, my coworkers and I get empanadas & other Colombian delicacies from El Machetico and without failure, they are to die for. I absolutely love these empanadas and they are probably some of the best Colombian empanadas in Miami. The restaurant itself is fairly small so we usually order over the phone and have them delivered. Delivery is my only concern as it takes a little long to get here so we have to order very early, yet somehow they are NEVER cold. They are perfectly warm and delicious. Stopped by here early morning this past Saturday. Was looking for some good breakfast food, Colombian style... I am so glad I actually did stop by! I made an order of a Buñuelo and a Pan De Bono. Ordered also a side of scrambled eggs with ham and cheese, which the girl told me came with an arepa with cheese on top and eggs on the side. The Arepa was AMAZING, and so were the eggs. It's also hard to find a good Buñuelo now a days and it was very very good. I think the only suggestion I would give is that I would've enjoyed a coffee that came from a good coffee machine. Beware this place is not a restaurant it's a tiny bakery. There are no restrooms! It's more of a pick up place then a sit down place. The pictures on the menu are NOT what you get. I bought a Bandeja paisa for $14 and the portion was ridiculous it was literally half of what the picture showed, tiny , tiny not to mention it doesn't include an avocado like the picture. I'm not sure what customer service the others are talking about as there is none. You have to order your food pay and sit down. The empanada was stale, the taste of the food was ok but I can get that anywhere for the same price and double the portion. Absolutely disappointed. read more

This is the best Colombian food in the area of Doral and Miami!! Their breakfast is the traditional "Paisa" breakfast with the perfect cheese (quesito blandito) and the best huevos pericos. Their "Sancocho" is to die for!! Is a pretty decent portion, and they serve it steaming hot, which helps to bring out the flavor from the plate straight up your nose! Yummi!! Not a real restaurant, I searched for a bakery and El machetico came up. I don't mind that is a small place but this is more like a cantina delivery spot. They had some empanadas and a couple of pandebonos out. I thought about ordering food but was told the kitchen was closed already at noon on a Saturday. El Machetico is tiny hole in the wall located in the busy office/warehouse area of Doral. I wish you the best of luck in fighting traffic coming and leaving here. That being said, I did not expect such great flavor to come out of somewhere so small. Being my first visit I wanted to try a little bit of everything and ordered the scrambled eggs with tomato and onion (comes with a cheese arepa), pan de bono, cheese stick (I forget how it was spelled and don't want to butcher it), and a side of homemade salsa. The eggs were so delicious, I don't know what they used to flavor them but definitely worth a try. The arepa and cheese stick were both also savory and extremely tasty. The homemade salsa is spicy, tangy, fresh, and I could probably drink a bucket of the stuff. The only things that held this location back from getting a 5 star review is that the pan de bono is dry (I would skip it which is disappointing to say for a Colombian restaurant) and the 15% off breakfast offer on yelp is apparently only for orders over $20 which is not a big deal but would be nice if it stated it online. These are minor details and I wouldn't let them deter you from paying this place a visit! read more
