Angela is the perfect tutor for my son. She works with him easily on his level and he's always so much more emotionally brighter afterward.

Better than Kumon. I went there for several years but now I've learned so much more at LA Math Tutoring. I actually really enjoy math now!

I've had other tutors in the past, but this company really provided me with the best math tutoring in Los Angeles.

There is a great deal of authenticity in his teaching approach; he is one of the few tutors who practices what he preaches. Should his own tools and tips not work for his students, he easily adapts, taking time out to learn about his students before formulating alternative methods. I admire the honesty he has with himself, only taking on a limited number of students at any given time. I've had the pleasure of working with Mike on two occasions: during college applications and later in my professional career. He is whole heartedly dedicated to each person's academic journey and is easily one of the best kept secrets in the tutoring industry.

This fall, he guided my son through the essay writing process, finding an unusual personal topic where my son's qualities could shine. The result was an incredible thoughtful piece that has blown away every adult who has seen it. Mike also raised his sights above his high school's recommendations, encouraging him to apply to more challenging universities. My son was admitted to his first choice college in early decision, ahead of several friends with better academic records. Also notable is how well he communicates with parents, his straightforward billing and how painless he makes the process for parent and student. Now he going to help my son solidify his writing process before he starts college.

I was in contact with another company who seemed to give me the run around having a tutor lined up and then a different reason to cancel each time, however I kept dealing with this company because I thought it was my only option since Covid and everyone being extra cautious ( understandably). I decided to do another search with my fingers cross that I would find someone who was willing to tutor face to face and I hit the jackpot with Rebecca! She was so polite and professional, she listened to my needs and my sons needs. She told me she would call be back the next day and she did! With two tutor options! My son was sitting in our backyard with his mask, with his tutor and his mask on by the end of the week. Best part beside Rebecca coming through when I thought I had no other options my son loves his tutor! They spend 2 hours a day, 3 days a week together. I make sure to wipe the table they use outside down with Clorox each time, I also don't allow anyone else to be outside with them and as I said both wear their masks. We've asked if we could continue with the tutor through the school year and he's kindly accepted. I will recommend her to anyone seeking home school help!

Amy, Steven and Larry and Ethan have been great. The location is now right near the Beverly Center. There's a parent's waiting room with a glass door if you want to wait during your kid's session. Noah had taken two practice ACT exams early May, and he got a 24 and a 26 on the grammar section of the ACT (which made is overall score a 29 and a 32). The Sylvan on Pico has a 'grammar expert', and I have no idea what this person said to Noah, but Noah jumped all the way to a **35** on the grammar section when he took the ACT on June 8th at USC -- wow! that's a 9 point jump -- I couldn't believe it. He also raised his science score as well, which were his two weaker areas so that's what they focused on. Thank you very much! Noah did 4-5 two hour sessions at Sylvan, and at $60/hour it's very reasonably priced (it's even cheaper if you buy hours in bulk). It was his first time taking it, and we will definitely be going there to prepare for the essay as well! Thank you!

But, it was challenging to evaluate that before committing to move forward with one firm. I'm sharing this review of Beth because she was exactly what I was looking for. In my admissions call, the admissions officer told me one of my application reviewers said they were hard-pressed to find anything wrong with my application. Beth made a significant impact on my application in two ways: (1) In all areas of the application, especially the essays, she maximized the portion of content that Kellogg admissions officers care about. Before working with Beth, I had iterated my essays several times and thought they were in a decent spot. After she reviewed, it turned out only a small fraction was content Kellogg admissions officers actually care about. We worked together to maximize the portion of the content admissions officers care about and pared down the rest. (2) While I had a high-level idea of what a good application looked like, I didn't have a crystal clear picture, and as a consequence, I found I would iterate on application components much more than necessary because I wanted to be sure they were as good as possible. Beth let me know when each one was in a good state so I could focus my time effectively, and that allowed me to put adequate effort into every portion of the application. There's nothing magic in those two items, which is why I recommend her so highly: I'm confident that her impact on my application is repeatable with any application. I could tell in working with her that she's evaluated thousands of Kellogg applications, and that makes her uniquely suited to advise in those two areas.

The SBC team works together to create a holistic experience. Bill took the time to understand my goals before pairing me with a consultant. Amy spent countless hours with me understanding what made me tick and helping me translate that into an application. Beth flight tested my application and made sure that there weren't any glaring holes, and Anthony helped me prep for my Wharton Team Based Discussion. By far the most valuable part of this process was having Amy by my side. No question was too trivial for her, and she had limitless patience with me as I obsessed over every detail of my application. Amy's most valuable contribution, however, was her ability to help me focus on the RIGHT details. It is easy to lose sight of what you are building as you write the applications from the ground up, and it can be particularly challenging not to write applications based on what you THINK the AdComms WANT to hear. Amy encouraged me to embrace my authentic voice, and ensured that I was telling a story that highlighted who I am as a human. Thanks to Amy and the SBC team I was admitted to FIVE MBA programs: GSB, Wharton, Booth, Columbia, and Stern (with a full ride).
