I cannot thank Tamara enough for all the help she gave me. I sought help from Tamara because I needed help with study skills and time management. I am currently in a very rigorous, accelerated graduate nursing program at UCLA. Prior to this program (in undergrad), I had always been able to get away with studying the night before, writing papers at the last minute, etc. I realized that these tactics were not going to cut it anymore. At 32 years of age, it was not an easy feat to change habits that are hardwired into my brain. In fact, before meeting Tamara I had already read quite a bit of literature on time management in addition to attending time management workshops. None of these worked for me. I needed individualized attention. She not only taught me great study tips, but she worked with me until we found effective ways for me to manage my time efficiently and effectively.
I believe what sets Tamara apart from other tutors is her experience in academia at a tier one university and her natural ability to work effectively with students. Part of my curriculum involves doing research and writing scholarly papers. The level at which I am now expected to write is much more rigorous than what I had previously experienced. As someone who struggles with time management, I spent many days avoiding these papers and feeling stress and anxiety as a result. Tamara worked with me to identify the root causes of my insecurities, situations that trigger unproductive behavior, and ways to overcome these obstacles so that I can get to a productive state of mind as quickly as possible. Her experience was invaluable because she knew exactly what I was up against. In fact, she would often anticipate the requirements of the assignment before I even stated them all. She just knows what is expected, how to do it, and how coach others to do it the right way.
Also, she used her experience to help me strategize looking for jobs after school. She knows what it takes to get a competitive job, and I am grateful she was able to share her expertise. Knowing my strengths and what makes me happy, she was also able to help me sort out what career path to take after graduation. After I work for a couple of years, I may consider going back to complete a doctoral program, and we talked about ones that make sense for me. She knows what competitive programs are looking for, and she was able to talk to me about experiences I can have over the next few years to not only make sure I in fact know that I want to go back to school but to also make sure I have the necessary background to be a competitive applicant.
So I obviously highly recommend Tamara. My only regret is that I did not find her when I was much younger. read more
