LA Tutors 123 prepped my daughter for the ISEE with less than 6 weeks before her test date. Her tutor, Theo, was really smart, knowledgeable about the ISEE, patient and encouraging. My daughter raised her score by 3 stanines on one of the sections and received acceptances from the schools that were her top two choices. She is excited to be attending what is widely considered to be the number 1 school in LA next school year. Thank you Theo and Arash!! read more

My daughter loved working with Gray at LA Tutors 123. He was such a game changer for her SAT prep. Before tutoring, she was feeling really overwhelmed and unsure of herself. Gray put her at ease and broke things down in a way that really made sense for her. What I really appreciated was how patient, encouraging, and positive he was throughout the whole process. The practice really helped build her confidence week by week, and it showed not only in practice tests but on the day of. By test day, she felt prepared--and the results spoke for themselves! She really improved by points, which opened up so many new college options for her. We can't thank Gray enough for all the support, flexibility, and genuine care he put into helping our daughter succeed. Just updating to say that working with LA Tutors was SO worth it - not only did our child get the highest possible ISEE scores but also got into all of his chosen school options and will be enrolling in his #1 pick (even more incredible given that the school has become so popular that it now has Ivy League-level acceptance rates). Many thanks to Arash and Ron! read more

LA123 has been a huge help for our son's ISEE prep. We started preparation only around end of August, so were quite late for the fall/winter test season. Arash was the first to return my inquiry and provided very thorough information about the test, their services and commitment. His responsiveness and insight made LA123 stand out immediately, and this level of service continued as we signed up with them. Despite the late timing and our request for in-person tutoring, Arash assigned an amazing tutor, who clicked with our sons right away. She was thorough, engaging and great at adapting to our kids' learning style. Two months into tutoring, the tutor had some serious but unexpected health issues that forced her to stop. Arash took immediate action to address the situation, contacted a few new tutors, and helped us secure one that matches our schedule, style and progress. Again, his quick response and strong dedication ensured we had no disruption in the test prep. Our kids had an average 3-4 point improvement on their final scores, with the amazing support from LA123. read more

I just wanted to thank Conor and the tutors, Gavin and Anthony, for their outstanding help and guidance with our kids' ISEE preparation. Both kids made significant improvements and, more importantly, gained the confidence needed to score highly on the exams. Conor was incredibly attentive, extremely knowledgeable, and consistently supportive throughout the process. Even though I know he works with many families, I always felt that our concerns were heard and addressed. read more

LATutors123 did an excellent job preparing our rising 7th grader for the mid-level ISEE, and we recently used that score to gain admission to our first choice for private school. I contacted LA Tutors in a panic. My son was taking his midterms and was struggling mightily in Calculus II. I wanted a tutor he could see more than once per week if needed and wanted it to start yesterday. Eric hopped on the case and found a tutor that my son saw throughout the process. My son was subsequently accepted to Columbia University for Fall 2023. Couldn't be happier. read more

LA Tutors 123 was a pleasure to work with. They actually exceeded my expectations in many ways. They were very flexible, professional and could pivot to meet our tutoring needs easily. We are incredibly grateful for LA Tutors, as we've seen immense progress in our daughter's SAT scores within only a few weeks! Her recent SSAT performance results have surpassed our expectations by far, and we attribute this progress to the team at LA Tutors, who always take care to devote the time and effort necessary to improving their students' scores. Speaking from a parental perspective, we're very aware that SSAT testing can be a strenuous time for both the student and the parents, but LA Tutors has mitigated a lot of the stress and worries that we were experiencing before. We highly recommend this service to anybody looking to improve their SSAT performance. read more

I am very pleased with LA Tutors. Eric was extremely helpful in answering our questions regarding the program and paired my daughter up with Gavin, who was a GREAT fit for my daughter. She had lots of positive things to say about Gavin..."He was extremely thorough and made sure I understood the steps and concepts. He was good at explaining things in a way that I could understand." My daughter is very particular so if she liked working with Gavin then he must be awesome. I am extremely happy with LA Tutors, and I would recommend them. read more

We highly recommend working with LA Tutors 123! Before working with them, our son was looking at average or slightly below average ISEE test scores. His school gave us a few names, including LA Tutors 123. Although they turned out to be optional due to the pandemic, our son's ISEE scores went up dramatically - almost as high as they could go! His tutor Gray was solid - teaching our son math that he likely won't see again until high school! Arash, the executive director, was attentive, communicative, and open to feedback. Our son got into the top independent schools in LA, including his first choice where he is very happy! We are very pleased with our decision to use LA tutors 123 for ISEE test prep. read more

Exceptional experience. Great customer service and very strong tutors & educators. Strongly recommend.

LA Tutors are a team of amazing people that are honest, dedicated and supportive in helping your child be successful to pass their exam. We went with the plan they thought was best for my son and they had confidence in him that if he could buckle down and do the work he could pass in the short period of time he had. Between my son (who does struggle with school) and his tutor they worked together to help him succeed and his passed his exam on the first try. Ever penny spent was worth it seeing my son earn his CHSPE passing score. read more

We were recommended to LA Tutors 123 by our friends from school. The Program Director, Eric Kim, gave us amazing customer service. He is extremely knowledgeable, responsive and accommodating. He really heard our needs, effectively managed our expectations and even gave us insight to the Los Angeles educational landscape. He is a pro all around and things couldn't have gone any smoother with him. Our son absolutely loved his tutor, Theo Popov. Not only was the curriculum he provided challenging, our son stayed fully engaged and learned a great deal from him. Theo went above and beyond and my son genuinely felt that Theo cared about him and his development. It was a great comfort knowing we were in such good hands with Theo. We were lucky to have found LA Tutors 123. Quality experience all around! I can't recommend them enough. read more

Eric (Kim) and his team are top notch. Eric is super responsive and genuinely kind. I cannot remember any instance when I did not receive a response from Eric within about 24 hours of sending him an email. LA Tutors seems to be a company that truly strives to have a personal relationship with its students and their families. Our child worked with two tutors (Michael and Josh) for test prep, and both were fantastic. Both were excellent teachers and very accommodating in terms of scheduling and providing tailored support. We also appreciated the entire team's flexibility given the added challenges of teaching via zoom due to COVID-related limitations. An extra big thanks to the amazing Michael for going above and beyond to find mutually convenient times to teach -- his dedication is really appreciated. If you are seeking a quality tutoring resource to support your child during test prep, or for academic reinforcement generally, I would highly recommend reaching out to Eric and LA Tutors. read more

We found LA Tutors on Yelp for our son's middle school ISEE prep and we are so glad we did. From my very first call with Eric Kim, the program director, I knew we were in good hands - Eric walked us through the whole process, including what options were available to us for testing in light of the pandemic. Eric took the time to pair our son with a phenomenal tutor (Jason!) who ended up being such a perfect fit for us. Our son ended up performing very well on the test and said he felt prepared and calm, which is really all we could ask for. We would use them again in a heartbeat. Thanks so much LA Tutors! read more

In June 2022, our 16-year-old home-schooled daughter decided to prepare for the CHSPE instead of the GED, which she began studying for last school year. In August, she signed up to take the exam in October. After spending the rest of summer navigating all she could get her hands on at the local library and working with those materials all on her own, she asked us if we could engage a tutor to help her with specific areas she was not confident in. With only a month and a half to fine tune her skills, we managed to find LA Tutors 123 while looking up information related to the CHSPE exam (GREAT blog entry from them on the CHSPE exam!). I'm pretty adept in researching companies and noticed that LA Tutors 123 had received very high marks for their tutor services from various sources. Intrigued, I submitted an inquiry related to their CHSPE tutor services. Within a couple of hours, I had received a call from Eric Kim, ready to discuss where my daughter was at academically and set up a roadmap to prepare her for the CHSPE exam. After sending us an initial diagnostic test, Eric suggested that we engage with one of their seasoned CHSPE tutors, Tony. This ended up being a perfect match. Tony came to our home twice a week, for 90 minute sessions, until my daughter's exam day. Tony was punctual upon arriving each visit and custom tailored the areas of focus of the diagnostic test results and my daughter's specific questions. Eric and Tony worked amazingly well in timing the practice tests, providing feedback and results based on those tests. With session updates from Tony of each morning's visit arriving in email by end of day, it was a great communication tool for us to dialogue with our daughter on her progress in between sessions. Based on those consistent updates, we were able to communicate with Eric our daughter's request to take an additional practice test outside what was suggested. Getting closer to the test date, Eric sent all materials very timely and provided results in the same fashion which was valuable in time managing key areas my daughter needed covering. Tony was effective in communicating concepts, covering material and never seemed rushed to move on until my daughter demonstrated comprehension and understanding. Tony was a good listener and very patient with my daughter's inquiries and he too asked questions when clarification was needed. Tony's maturity and experience in teaching was evident! My daughter was not educated to be a test taker so her needs were not just honing certain concepts for a test, but how to manage her time with test taking. Tony's techniques in those areas helped my daughter keenly. It was great that she learned those concepts from Tony firsthand as I am sure she will carry those for a lifetime. Also worth noting was the flexibility both Tony and Eric demonstrated when two personal appointments, booked months in advance, conflicted with the prearranged study sessions and meeting times. Response times to accommodate were expeditious and plugged in well, according to the remainder of sessions to the test date. Long story short, she PASSED the exam on her first try!!! HUGE THANK YOU to LA Tutors 123, specifically Eric and Tony, for their assistance on getting my daughter ready for the CHSPE exam!!! Although a tad on the pricey side, this is an example of "you get what you pay for" - RESULTS! read more

Our family chose LA Tutors to help prepare our daughter to take the ISEE test (with a focus on math) and wholeheartedly add our 5-star review to the rest! While I initially felt some hesitation towards what seemed to be their high price for tutoring, we moved ahead and felt the investment was completely worth it. Program Director ERIC KIM was so helpful, always accessible, quick to respond, answering our questions and guiding us throughout the process. After discussing with him our daughter's personality, study habits and what we were seeking in a tutor, he connected us with a perfect match for her/us. LETICIA SOTO FLORES was warm, supportive, encouraging and good humored. She helped our daughter methodically review past lessons as well as learn new concepts not yet covered in school. Letitia worked with our schedule, even if it meant crossing town in rush hour traffic or interrupting her Saturday or Sunday midday. And, she even made herself available via Skype several evenings during the final week before the test. The company offered various opportunities for free diagnostic testing as well as info about testing dates, best timeframes for testing and school deadlines for submission of test results. Our daughter took a diagnostic test sometime towards the end of the 7th grade school year, then did a once a week tutoring session with some follow-up homework throughout the summer and into 8th grade. We chose for her to take the official ISEE test in mid November (allowing us time to prep to take it a second time, if we so chose.) We were all VERY happy with her test results, especially her improvement in math. Eric didn't think more study would necessarily increase our daughter's scores significantly. He suggested we consider submitting these results to our prospective schools and dropping our tentative plan to take the test a second time (even though his company would have been able to charge us more money had we continued our lessons.) We took his advice and were glad to enjoy Winter Break free from ISEE study, and for our daughter to be able to accept an unexpected invitation to travel the weekend in January when she would have had to do the test again. Based on her scores, Eric recommended which of the private schools we were considering might be most interested in offering a space to our daughter. (Our middle school principal had advised that no matter how much you tell your kid their chances of getting accepted to a particular school are next to nil, they still feel bad if/when rejected.) After touring numerous private and public schools, including magnets and charters, we applied to four excellent private schools. Our family was delighted to be accepted by three and waitlisted by one! Ultimately, we enrolled in one of the three, where our daughter will enthusiastically be starting in 9th grade this Fall. Thank you Leticia, thank you Eric, thank you LA Tutors! read more

LA Tutors helped my son's dream come true! His goal is to play a HS sport at Harvard-Westlake and LA Tutors is absolutely the reason why he did so well on the ISEE and was accepted at HW. He has always attended public school and done well, but found studying for the 9th grade ISEE's very difficult and extremely overwhelming. As a last ditch effort- 6 weeks before his test, Eric at LA Tutors quickly paired us with a phenomenal tutor (Jeff) that almost doubled his pretest scores. Jeff recognized exactly what my son needed- he showed him "how" to take a test. That, along with focused instruction, boosted my son's confidence. He scored above average in all 4 categories and outscored other teammates competing for a spot at HW. Well worth the money spent! read more

LA Tutors 123 did a great job helping my son prepare for his ISEE test. My son plans to apply to a private school this fall. Since my son's busy schedule because he has participated in many extracurricular activities, I tried to find an experienced tutor to improve his test preparation efficiency. I have contacted several tutoring institutes and eventually chose LA Tutors 123. Compared with others, I was impressed by the boss of LA Tutors, Eric's professionalism. After understanding my son's situation and plannings, Eric provided me with a reasonable recommendation to refer to and also an excellent instructor, Gavin, to assist my son to prepare for the test. My son and I were very satisfied with Eric and Gavin's help. And based on our happy cooperation experience, I will prioritize LA Tutors to assist my son on other standardized tests in the future and recommend them to the families who are looking for a trustworthy tutoring institute. read more

While I've only used their services once, it was a flawless experience. Eric is a great communicator both on the phone and via email. I explained the situation and what scores we were hoping to achieve. Eric explained the various tutoring plan options and sent a diagnostic test. Before long we had come up with an approach and within a week my daughter was setup with a tutor who came to our home at a day and time that worked great for our schedule. Isaac was our tutor. He was polite, punctual and engaging in his teaching style. I would be happy to call upon them in the future. read more

From my first conversation with Eric I knew I had found the right tutoring service for my son. Once he learned what we were looking for he said that he would have to make sure he had the right person to work with us. Only After he confirmed that he had a tutor available did he discuss signing up with him. No pressure whatsoever. We were then fortunate to have Wendy as the tutor. Her knowledge of the material, her teaching skills, her patience, her dedication were absolutely exemplary. We could not be happier. The service is not inexpensive but well worth every cent of it. read more

This is actually our third time using LA Tutors, with two kids over two tests [the lower and upper ISEE.] I wouldn't go anywhere else. For one, I appreciate that Eric always suggests a reasonable tutoring package, given our budget and how my kids performed on the diagnostic. He's also very good about matching each child with the right tutor for their sensibility and interests. Since my kids personally liked their tutor, the sessions [and the time leading up to them] were stress-free. My older son just took the upper ISEE and scored a 9 in his toughest subject [he scored a 2-3 statine in the diagnostic]. So we were thrilled with LA Tutor's results. read more
