Finding a tutor in Los Angeles was much more complicated than I expected. As someone who values education I did not want to hit a tutor for someone in my family without doing my best to ensure they were the perfect tutor for the job. I searched high and low (including online tutoring sites that let you choose your tutor) the outcome was fruitless.  Tutors who swore to have years of experience either were not as familiar with the material as they claimed or could not eloquently TEACH it. Also, the companies that charged ridiculous amounts like $150/hr did not show much for it. When I hired a tutor from Tutor Me LA, I wasn't sure what to expect. I read all the good reviews online but have been burned in the past by other tutoring companies that charged me thousands of dollars with not much to show for it. A friend suggested that I use Tutor Me LA in a private Beverly Hills group chat. Although, I was hesitant, I was also desperate as I needed a good tutor and fast! I called Tutor Me LA for a Math tutor and also got information about their SAT and ACT tutors. For most of my life I have been an A student. That is why I was so surprised that I was having so much trouble studying for my Organic Chemistry course at the University of California, Los Angeles. I would give minus 5 if I could. This place is a scam. We bought a package of 12 classes. They said they would send their best tutor, "Yung" this woman is a con artist. She speaks like she's very knowledgable, that led us to trust her despite arriving late for every appointment, including an hour late on the first visit. Despite specific deadlines for college essay prep, we were left with only 3 of the 4, hastily edited essays that were almost identical our son's first drafts after 9 hours of sessions dedicated to the essays. We expected to get SAT help in that package of 12 hours, but that was barely brushed upon briefly. We wasted 11 hours of our time and didn't get anything accomplished. The worst part was that we were left to help our son ourselves as we were too late to locate another tutor...not even mentioning the master con artist, Elliot who repeats I just want to "help you" like a robot. When actually he doesn't help in any way. When we asked for our refund, of the 9 hours wasted, we only were offered 3 hours, including the hour we never used, and we were treated by him as though WE wanted to take advantage. We asked Elliot for contact information of the general manager and never received a response. I bet after this review there will be many dubious 5 star reviews to cover the ground they lost.
