We went through THREE different English tutors, experienced THREE tutor cancellations, and despite paying for in-person tutoring, were forced to conduct some sessions online due to tutor availability. The constant changes in teachers, cancellations, and scheduling challenges made it nearly impossible to establish any continuity or momentum in my child's SAT preparation. SAT tutoring is time-sensitive, and consistency is critical. Instead, we were left feeling that neither my child's education nor our family's time was valued. What makes this even more frustrating is the mandatory nine-session commitment. Do yourself a favor and think twice before signing up for the required nine sessions. I deeply regret making that commitment. For a service that is supposed to help students prepare for such an important exam, I expected far more professionalism, reliability, and accountability. An awful experience for our family and a huge disappointment all around. I would not recommend this tutoring school.

I have spent so much money on GRE prep services (thousands) but this is by far the best thing that actually made a HUGE impact on my GRE score overall. I cannot say enough about Charles and his ability to teach the material. He is both passionate and constantly full of energy... that's probably an understatement. Although he sometimes goes quickly through the material, he will ALWAYS stop if you have questions on how to go about answering the questions. In addition, he is always adamant about getting the students to text him, calling, emailing, carrier pigeon-ing, with questions that pertain to the material if you are having trouble. The tricks and strategy on ways he taught me on how to approach each question on the GRE test allowed me to answer most of the questions that I struggled with. He is one of the greatest factors that allowed me to put this burden that has plagued my progression in life down like a dirty dog... so dirty... In addition, the online modules that accompany the Princeton Review is exceptional! Not only are both the presenters attractive (not bisexual) but they go over in detail on how to approach each question step-by-step which allowed me to answer most of the questions that came up on the GRE. I can't speak for those who had bad experience from the MCAT or any other test but, regarding the GRE, Princeton Review is what allowed me to get through this test (with the addition of memorizing an a@@ load of flashcards) and able to finally apply to the graduate schools that will allow me to finally be able to call myself doctor!!!

Prior to taking the SATs his only standardized test experience was the PSAT & without studying scored 1360. I had big hopes for him doing great in his SATs so we went the a PR private tutor ($3200, not an insignificant amount for us) as insurance. I was a bit surprised when he took PRs initial test assessment (1220) but not overly concerned. I figured with private tutoring he'd vastly improve because he had never seen a single SAT question/test. The PR Westwood private tutor dept manager...very professional & always responded quickly & thoroughly. Five stars The PR private tutor...very professional. The studying/homework requirements struck me as a bit lax, I would have expected a heavier workload. I also would have liked a bit more communication especially if there was any inkling that results would underwhelm. Four stars Results...my son took the SAT twice & both times was mid 1300s which was disappointing. To the Westwood office credit, I think they too were disappointed with the first result & offered six additional hours of free tutoring to prep for a 2nd attempt. But the results were near identical, no material improvement. Why two stars? The response from the Student Guarantees office. I thought there was a +150 pt refund guarantee for the tutoring services (so did the Westwood office) but the Student Guarantee office rejected my request. According to them, they take a baseline (1220 for my son) then "We'll then compare your starting score to the score you received on the official test." Fair enough, they don't state what that means. According to the Student Guarantees manager when I asked if PR would be satisfied with their services if my sons score went from 1220 to 1230 under the $3200 private tutoring program, he replied "Yes that is correct, any score increase satisfies the term of the money back guarantee, for the Standard tutoring package." Wow, how many parents would fork over $3200 knowing that? I'm not trying to be trivial but I would have expected a more empathetic & reassuring response from a company that touts their focus on customer results & satisfaction.

Pandemic aside, I would not hesitate to recommend John's MCAT lectures to any of my fellow pre-meds looking for instruction. I had been out of undergrad for 6 months with plans to retake the MCAT. I knew that I would want some structure given I would be studying while also working full time. This course was able to offer me just that. Not only is John a phenomenal instructor-he truly grasps how the MCAT is testing the student, versus simply giving you a list of topics to review. He morphs your thinking to make a difficult test seem easy and stands to support you through-and-through. I believe there are few MCAT courses that are taught by a single individualized teacher. This allows him to not only know your personal strengths and weaknesses, it allows him to advise you beyond the MCAT. I took the liberty to have John mentor me for applications, post-MCAT course, due to the morale I'd built with him and his experiences that allow him to understand the nuances of the medical school process. If you're looking for someone to teach you everything MCAT, while also picking up all the other skills necessary to be a medical school applicant, Swartwood is certainly the way to go.

Perfect for me since liked going to lecture and learning directly from them. He doesn't use books so you need to go to class. CARS was one of my favorite parts of the class. He really showed me how to read and break down passages. It really changed the way I looked at the test. In the end I did fine of the MCAT- 516 and I owe a lot of that to Swartwood + hard work!!
