Being budget conscious, the first thing I noticed was that Twainstein's services weren't cheap, in fact they were wayyy out of my price range. However after doing some research, reading some reviews, having a pressure-free consult with Avi, and deciding that the best investment I could make was in my education, I made the leap. Best. Decision. Ever. Over the course of a month and half, Avi and I worked together to improve my confidence and test-taking strategy/abilities (Dare I say i'm no longer afraid of fractions?). He was patient, observant and tailored our sessions to my needs. I put in a lot of effort inside and outside of our sessions, and he did the same for me. I have spent so much money on GRE prep services (thousands) but this is by far the best thing that actually made a HUGE impact on my GRE score overall. I cannot say enough about Charles and his ability to teach the material. He is both passionate and constantly full of energy... that's probably an understatement. Although he sometimes goes quickly through the material, he will ALWAYS stop if you have questions on how to go about answering the questions. In addition, he is always adamant about getting the students to text him, calling, emailing, carrier pigeon-ing, with questions that pertain to the material if you are having trouble. The tricks and strategy on ways he taught me on how to approach each question on the GRE test allowed me to answer most of the questions that I struggled with. He is one of the greatest factors that allowed me to put this burden that has plagued my progression in life down like a dirty dog... so dirty... In addition, the online modules that accompany the Princeton Review is exceptional! Not only are both the presenters attractive (not bisexual) but they go over in detail on how to approach each question step-by-step which allowed me to answer most of the questions that came up on the GRE. I can't speak for those who had bad experience from the MCAT or any other test but, regarding the GRE, Princeton Review is what allowed me to get through this test (with the addition of memorizing an a@@ load of flashcards) and able to finally apply to the graduate schools that will allow me to finally be able to call myself doctor!!!

Prior to taking the SATs his only standardized test experience was the PSAT & without studying scored 1360. I had big hopes for him doing great in his SATs so we went the a PR private tutor ($3200, not an insignificant amount for us) as insurance. I was a bit surprised when he took PRs initial test assessment (1220) but not overly concerned. I figured with private tutoring he'd vastly improve because he had never seen a single SAT question/test. The PR Westwood private tutor dept manager...very professional & always responded quickly & thoroughly. Five stars The PR private tutor...very professional. The studying/homework requirements struck me as a bit lax, I would have expected a heavier workload. I also would have liked a bit more communication especially if there was any inkling that results would underwhelm. Four stars Results...my son took the SAT twice & both times was mid 1300s which was disappointing. To the Westwood office credit, I think they too were disappointed with the first result & offered six additional hours of free tutoring to prep for a 2nd attempt. But the results were near identical, no material improvement. Why two stars? The response from the Student Guarantees office. I thought there was a +150 pt refund guarantee for the tutoring services (so did the Westwood office) but the Student Guarantee office rejected my request. According to them, they take a baseline (1220 for my son) then "We'll then compare your starting score to the score you received on the official test." Fair enough, they don't state what that means. According to the Student Guarantees manager when I asked if PR would be satisfied with their services if my sons score went from 1220 to 1230 under the $3200 private tutoring program, he replied "Yes that is correct, any score increase satisfies the term of the money back guarantee, for the Standard tutoring package." Wow, how many parents would fork over $3200 knowing that? I'm not trying to be trivial but I would have expected a more empathetic & reassuring response from a company that touts their focus on customer results & satisfaction.

Gavyn was the guy who was our contact and he was fantastic, always getting back to me right away with questions and helping to navigate the process. After comparing some programs and prices, we went with Revolution Prep because we needed a flexible program due to other activities, trips and camps. We appreciated that we could be matched with someone who could work around our schedule and on evenings and Sundays, when she had more free time. It was very convenient for me, as a parent, to not have to drive her anywhere. For her, she appreciated being able to sleep in and wake up just 5 minutes before her session and that she could sign onto the session from anywhere with an internet connection, for example, at a hotel when we were on vacation. The sessions were personalized for what my daughter needed to or wanted to practice. I felt that this was key because she did not have to sit through instruction on subject matter that she had already mastered or have anyone else slow her down, which is what would have happened in a group class. She began by taking one initial practice SAT to get a baseline for her skills and after that, she took 6 additional practice SAT tests. You should be aware that the student will need to set aside plenty of time to do these timed practice SAT tests (3 hours in one sitting each) in addition to working on problems on their own. The tutor was exceptional. We realize that with this type of program that is done via video conferencing, there is a larger pool of tutors available than a local tutoring center. My daughter's tutor was a very experienced high school math teacher from out-of-state who had seen every type of math SAT problem presented and could show her not only how to solve the problems, but how to be most efficient when doing so (i.e., solving vs. back-solving). She also gave many tips and tools to tackle the Verbal sections. We could not be more pleased with how things turned out for our kid. It took a lot of hard work on her part and it was essential having the tutor walking alongside her and not only tutoring the material, but giving her confidence about her skills. Her success would definitely not have come so easily if she had taken a class or tried to do self-study. The 1:1 personalized training or tutoring might not have been the most affordable choice, but we certainly cannot argue with the results (scored in the 99+ percentile) we got by using Revolution Prep.

Revolution provides no clear instructional plan or academic strategy and no visibility into what actually happens during sessions. Full session recordings are not shared, there are no parent check-ins, and after-session email "summaries" are short, unspecific, and completely useless. Like the previous reviewer stated, this company advertises standard hour-long sessions, but in practice they consistently run significantly shorter than 60 minutes, often under 55 minutes. The administrative side of the company is just as problematic as the tutoring itself. When you call, staff are defensive and avoid answering basic questions. The overall impression is that Revolution's priority is protecting the company and avoiding accountability. For a company that markets itself as a premium academic service, the level of professionalism and service falls far short of expectations. Don't waste your time -- at this point, there are so many online tutoring companies that there is zero reason to take a risk with Revolution Prep and gamble with your child's education and time.
