My absolute favorite Mediterranean restaurant. We just moved to Brighton a month ago and had been eying this place because we've been to the locations near other places we lived. There are so so many new places that we were putting it off. Unlike most, we had to go out to eat for Christmas dinner. We tend to travel back from Wisconsin on Christmas Day. Their bread is so fresh and delicious. Taken right out of the oven and served with the whipped garlic sauce. So warm and delicious. I had my usual meal which is lentil soup and fattoush salad. I love how the food was consistent from the other locations. The soup is incredibly hot and had a texture that's not creamy, but not chunky. The fattoush is topped with grilled chicken that is cooked to perfect. The dressing on the salad is light with the perfect tang. That's all I can say. Give it a try! read more

This place is a favorite but it's becoming to routine in the cuisine. You are known for your meddle eastern cuisine and the last visit was under whelming. Gummy grape leaves and little to no flavor outside of the dressing on the Fattoush salad. Side of sautéed veg I believe only saw the pan for about 30 seconds. Really bad experience at this restaurant. Placed an order over the phone (Chicken Tawook Dinner and Quart of Soup); simple, I thought. I was told 20-25 mins. I show up about a half hour later and when I check in with the host stand, they tell me that they accidentally gave my food to someone else and that they will need me to wait while they remake my order, but don't worry they are going to "take care of me". I had already paid at this point, so I was expecting a refund full or at least partial. The manager instead says he will take a meager 10% off and can offer some baklava. About 10 minutes goes by and he comes back out and gives me my food. I take it and ask for the discount that he had offered. He says "well I still got your food out pretty fast, so no need for a discount". I tried to insist on him honoring his previous offer, but he became very unprofessional and agitated, so I just left. In my experience, if the manager of your establishment is so incompetent that he gives your order away to the wrong person, and you have to wait 10 minutes, when you show up (on-time), then that manager should be responsible for some sort of concession to that customer. In my opinion, that is just called good customer service especially when the manager is completely at fault. This manager obviously values the $40 dinner more than their customer satisfaction and return business, because I will never be back to this restaurant. We got carry out dinner for two went home and if I was closer I would bring back and leave it for them. This is now the norm for this restaurant that was one of my favorite places in Brighton. Heading out for an afternoon of shopping we knew we were gonna need some fuel for the trip. With no kids in tow this time, I grabbed my phone and hit up my Yelp app. looking for the closest middle eastern food. I knew of all the stand-bys as we floated through Lansing, but I was looking for something special. A mystical place. A place where fresh falafels are abundant, and a place where garlic sauce isn't extra. As we continued our journey towards the outlet mall in Howell, my Yelp app showed me La Marsa in Brighton. It was a little out of our way (15 minutes), but if your like me, that's nothing for some tasty chicken shawarma. As I walked through the doors of this establishment, I thought I hit the jackpot. The aroma of deliciousness hit me square in the face. It was around 1pm on a Friday and it was fairly busy. We were seated fairly quickly and started going over our lunch options. Our waiter showed up and I was floored with how polite he was. Super helpful with choosing lunch and very attentive to everything we might need. Free fresh hot bread and garlic sauce was brought to our table while we waited for our order. We ordered a variety of wrap sandwiches because we couldn't decide. One chicken shawarma, one lamb kafta, one chicken shish kafta, and one falafel. Our lunch sides were spicy hummus, lentil soup and a Greek salad. I got an Arabic coffee to finish my meal. This was WAY TOO MUCH FOOD!! We were both full after eating the hummus and lentil soup! We still had 4 wraps to eat! We had no way to preserve them for the shopping trip so we were forced to eat them all. BUT everything was so good and so fresh we didn't mind. Everything included, lunch ran us just over $30. A little more than I wanted to pay, but our own fault for not being able to make up our minds. Lol the actual lunch special was like $8 a person. I haven't done a long review like this in a while but this place deserves it. I want everyone to experience what I did at this place. ALL the staff was amazing. The fresh food was some of the best, and the price was the same as lesser rated middle eastern restaurants. I don't go outlet mall shopping very often, but I'm definitely driving outta my way again to hit this place up. Just don't plan on trying on clothes right away afterwards. read more

My daughter and I ordered hundred dollars worth of meals. My chicken shish kebab was extremely dry and the meat was less than it used to be. I called and let them know about the chicken thinking they would do something about it instead they said you ordered the regular chicken. You should've ordered the oregano lemon chicken that's more moist Recd, couldn't believe she said that. I stated that no matter what meat you order it should be moist. She didn't say anything. She didn't offer another shish kebab done better nothing pretty bad business ethics in my opinion. read more

Was looking for something different to eat and found La Marsa. This turned out to be a great find. On a monday night this place was packed so we figured that it would be good. Service was really good. They were very attentive and we never wanted for anything. They were quick to grab / refill drinks, checked up on us a few times and were very friendly. Food - We started with the Grape leaves and the portion was huge. I could have eaten this for my meal (see pic). They were flavored nicely and really didn't need anything else. For my main I had the Hommous with Shawarma with rice and vegetables. The portion again was incredible and I had no chance of finishing it. Good flavor in everything. I was very happy with my meal. Today I ordered the Mjadra vegetarian sandwich with the Tabbouli and Spicy Hommous as appetizers. 5 Stars all the way! The staff are here are so friendly. If you aren't sure how to pronounce a word they will help you and are very knowledgeable about the dishes in terms of ingredients and/or allergies. I have been to La Marsas different locations a few different times and I am always impressed with the meal. They have some of the best pita and garlic paste that they bring to the table after you order... it's addicting so be careful . We ordered spicy hummus and tabbouli for an appetizer and they were both so fresh and delicious. I like to order from the pita sandwich section of the menu, they're only $5, so I get a couple! I had the shish tawook and the chicken kafta. Both were fantastic and I really enjoyed the meal. The staff is very friendly and attentive and the food takes a little bit of time to cook, but quality food is worth the wait. What a disaster. Ordered on a Thursday at 5:20 and it took 1:40 minutes to get my food. I was quoted an hour and showed up then. It was mayhem, they couldn't handle all the orders and it seemed like they had never handled carry out before. Now the food, our lamb kebabs were ordered medium rare but came well done. Ordered two Shish Kafka sandwiches received two completely different ones. Entrees were supposed to come with salad but both were missing. The only thing that was good was the hummus. read more

I was unpleasantly surprised upon picking up carry out for dinner tonight. My friend and I ordered $50 worth of not so great food. First, had vegetarian grape leaves. They are unbelievably mushy and bland. We couldn't even eat them. I am super sad because I absolutely love grape leaves! We also had chicken tawook and I will say the three stars were because the lemon oregano sauce was amazing! Luckily I had pita and the sauce to fill me up! The chicken was good but not great. We also had a side of tabbouli which was dry and had massive chunks of onion that should have been more finely chopped. I spent so much time picking them out that I gave up! Our other side was lentil soup. It was good but not the best I have ever had. Overall it was a disappointing dinner that I wish I could take back. read more

When done eating we were given the bill and said thank you then the server mocked us and said "thank you" in the same tone I did while smirking. We ordered the appetizer trio of baba ghanoush, hummus, and tabbouleh, which also came with a generous plate of toum. We came in around 2PM on a Saturday. Our enthusiastic waitress Mona brought us water right away...and then forgot about us. We tried to flag her down, she acknowledged us, and then disappeared into the kitchen. A different waiter came by a few minutes later to take our order, and we didn't see Mona again. The falafel, hummus and salad were all really tasty. The waiter forgot our spinach pie - I wish waiters with poor memories would just write orders down on paper.
