Be very careful if you have a PEANUT ALLERGY. I was invited to someone's house for lunch, and they had ordered the "Dinner for 6" from La Marsa. I took one bite of some of the rice and meat, and I immediately got a severe allergic reaction. I used 2 epi-pens, and that still wasn't enough, so I had to go to the emergency room for anaphylactic shock. After the emergency room, I called the restaurant to ask if that dish has peanuts in it. The chef said that one of their meats (I don't remember if it's the meat kafta or beef kabob) is made at their headquarters and they use peanuts in it. I stopped by the restaurant the next day to inquire further, and the people working there said the rice has peanuts and almonds sprinkled on it (I thought it was only almonds). So I have no idea if it was the meat, the rice, or both. One of the workers said they've had customers for years who just say if they have an allergy, and then they don't add the peanuts, which sounded a bit like he was trying to defend the restaurant from responsibility. However, I wonder if the workers are even fully aware of what dishes might have peanuts, since I got two different answers. I wanted to contact someone from corporate, because their menu SHOULD LIST PEANUT ALLERGENS FOR SPECIFIC DISHES. There's a note at the bottom of the menu saying "some dishes may include peanut oil," but typically people with peanut allergies do not react to peanut oil (which is refined and doesn't contain the actual allergen). This is something that their headquarters should be taking much more seriously, since it can literally be a matter of life or death. They put in the effort to note if dishes are vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free on their menu. They should at least have a clearer peanut/nut warning too, before they get sued by someone whose family member dies. I'd also really like to know which part of the dish actually had peanuts in it. read more

Last minute dinner for the Fam. As we walked into the nearby Kroger to get some supplies for dinner we smelled the aroma in the parking lot and our plans changed for dinner. As soon as we walked into La Marsa we were all happy we did. A very welcoming staff and helpful for my GF daughter. Many GF choices for her. We ordered some Hummus ( because why wouldn't you at a Mediterranean Restaurant ), Chix Shawarma, Kabobs, and Tawook. So hard to find good service AND good food. We picked a bad day to try this restaurant. Hot day, and their A/C was out. Ordered a falafel appetizer, and all six falafels were pretty dark, so we sent them back. I wanted majudra, which is cracked wheat with lentils and onions. I also wanted a side of lamb. The manager suggested I pick this other entree that had the lamb and onions on it. I said ok. When my order came, the lentils were on a bed of white rice. Something I was trying to avoid. It also had elbow macaroni in it also. Wtf! It did have lamb and the onions, and some sauce. The food is delicious. The pita rounds are freshly baked and chewy, and do not miss out on the garlic spread! I could eat so much of that spread. I had the meat shawarma with hummus and a side of sautéed mushrooms while my friend had the chicken and hummus. We were both so impressed. And the service is so friendly and accommodating. Heard a little buzz among friends that a new La Marsa location opened in Hartland. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. Walked right in no wait. Greeted warmly and welcomed to a booth. Menu looked amazing, ton of choices. We ordered drinks and food. We got our drinks along with warm pita and sauce. We both got the Chicken Shwarma. It arrived at the table quickly. Chicken was moist and delicious. You can taste the hint of the grill, really good. Rice pilaf was great, fries were tasty and plentiful. Overall the experience was excellent. Food was awesome! Staff were polite and professional. Location was super clean and decorated well. We will be back for sure! read more

This is my second time here at this La Marsa location. The owner/ manager is incredibly kind and welcoming. My sister and I ordered crushed lentil soup, fattoush salad, greek salad, and hommus with vegetables. All the food was beyond our expectations! My sister said this was the best lentil soup she's ever had. The servers refilled our drinks without asking. Plus, the owner threw in some pistachio baklava just because! Super nice guy. My son and I thought we would try the place out. Ordered pick up through Uber eats because my company gifted us a meal. I ordered the mousaka and it's just unsalted mush, there was zero texture and zero discernible vegetable. My son ordered the sauté with chicken, and no mushrooms with a side of lamb chili. His meal came half full of mushrooms and he got a lentil soup instead of the chili. The only thing edible is the pita and garlic which were good and some of the fries that weren't drenched in mousaka sauce. Definitely not worth the money since it went into the garbage. read more

We have now made this a regular spot for our family. Everything is delicious and the chicken shawarma sandwich is a must! Our other favorite is the hummus with chicken shawarma. The hummus is the best we have had! Don't miss the pickled veggies and extra garlic sauce for dipping their piping hot bread! So happy to have this place close to home.
