Perhaps the bar used to share the kitchen with the restaurant upstairs, but this did not appear to be the case during our visit in September 2016. My husband, sister and I visited Verjus with the hopes of enjoying a bottle or two of wine as well as some heavy tapas. When I mentioned seeing the tapas menu the bartender got confused and said they only offer a small selection of cheese and charcuterie at the bar, but nothing cooked. We attempted to make a reservation at the restaurant upstairs, but unfortunately they were booked solid. We each ordered a glass of wine and split several plates of prosciutto and cheese at the bar. Everything was nice, but we were looking for dinner and the bar was a bit warmer than I would have preferred so after we finished our wine and cheese we ventured off elsewhere. This tiny wine bar is very charming spot to grab a glass of wine, but don't expect to find any tapas here.

Handydandy yelp Paris has pointed us in the right direction to Verjus! My bf and I were searching…read morefor a restaurant that would WOW us for our last dinner in Paris. Call in advance to make dinner reservations because we did not and the only opening was at 9:45pm. So we opted for the wine bar downstairs, which serves tapas. At first I was a little bummed about not being able to dine at the restaurant upstairs, but the wine bar was FANTASTIC! Here's what we ordered, with the best being at the top of the list. 1. The GNOCCHI was to die for...the pieces were small and ever-so-slightly crispy on the outside. 2. The SPICY FRIED CHICKEN (yes, we order manfood staples when my bf is with me) was so juicy on the inside yet crispy on the outside. The chicken was bursting with flavor. 3. The FLANK STEAK with CHIMICHURRI sauce was surprisingly tender and flavorful. 4. We also had the CELERY ROOT GYOZA. This was hands down the best food that we had in Paris. I can only imagine what the upstairs restaurant serves! The bartender was super cool and was helpful in recommending wine pairings with our food. She poured samples to make sure that we were happy with our wine selections. She also speaks perfectly good English if you're wondering! Thank you yelp for helping us pick out a fantastic restaurant to end our week in Paris. Merci beaucoup!

We loved it! A real find that we were only directed to by our Air BNB host…read more It's a tiny delicatessen and wine shop, which is obviously popular with the locals. By no means cheap, but worth EVERY penny. No menu, just take a table (if you're lucky) and you'll be asked if you want meat or cheese or mixed. You'll get a decent sized platter with bread and fig chutney for £8-10 per person, and you can order wine to go with it. They speak great English and also sell a small range of deli items, from chutneys to chocolates, bread and more. And all the cheese/meat you taste!

A little wine bar up the road from one of the best boulangeries in Paris (Sebastian Gaudard)…read more If all of the selfie sticks at the Sacré Coeur are too much for you then head down here for a much more relaxed afternoon of people watching. The bar is full of Corsican wines, excellent sausage (some of the best), cheese. Pick your bottle from the shelf and pay a small corkage fee. Corsican whites are generally quite mineral, fresh and slightly salty (due to the island influence). They are a perfect match with sausage because the acid cuts through the fat nicely. They also have a range of wines by the glass but getting a bottle is far more social. The reds are juicy and spiced so again perfect with sausage. It's a non-debatable topic: you must get the mixed cheese and charcuterie plate. Its generous and so, so good. As I said above, it was some of the best sausage I had the whole time I was in France. And the whole shop smells of it too so it's impossible not to be hungry. Unless you are vegetarian- then maybe stick with the cheese.
