    Fried Calamari -- very good
    Evan D.

Food was ok, nothing extraordinary but not certainly not bad. Ate with a big group and the general consensus was that while no one had bad food, only a few folks who really liked Italian expressed interest in a return visit. Service was very efficient and the servers were very nice but place was scorching, like literally everyone was sweating into their food. No clue why the air was off with just the windows open when it was in the high 80s outside. We got no breeze in the back corner of the restaurant and it was almost unbearable until, oddly enough, the AC came on as we were 2/3 of the way through eating. Highlights were the delicious sautéed broccoli rabe, the expertly fried calamari, the tasty mixed salad and the chicken scarparo (though it wasn't very spicy). Prices seemed good for the large amount of food too. Overall I wouldn't go back in the summer -- the hottest I've been eating in a long long time.

The very first place I went when I moved to White plains. Tired from unpacking went to get something to eat and found this place 5mins away. Instant favorite since then. Come here often mostly to grab pizza and Italian take out for the kids. This place can easily become your go to when you crave for authentic old school mom pops Italian meal. Atmosphere is very friendly. Most customers you find here are regulars.. They treat you like you're family and you will probably see the owner saying hi to the tables. I warn you the menu is not very diet friendly. Everything is heavy and saucy as authentic Italian often is. The portions are big too. Plenty of parking in the back. Bring cash. As its a cash only. They do have an ATM tho Highly recommend!

When in town, I always make it a point to go to La Manda's. Good food and consistently good service since I've been going for at least 20 years. The restaurant itself could use some upgrades but I think it ads to part of its charm. Their Baked Clams Oreganato is a must, my fave. I had the Shrimp Scampi which was delicious as always. Nice family run restaurant. Make sure to have a cannoli for dessert.

cheese pizza w/ peppers and onion

I've passed La Manda's a few times driving up and down Tarrytown Road; it's bright neon sign stood out amongst the sea of retail establishments in this area of White Plains (also, I'm a sucker for neon signs). Anyway, I was looking to order some pizza for dinner, and since most pizza spots in WP I've tried are just okay, I decided to give La Manda's a try. I gave them a call and shortly after went to go pick up my order. Echoing the other reviews here, the look of La Manda's is old school. Inside, it's really dated - kind of a dark aesthetic with deep brown wood tones and greens throughout. I've been to other old school restaurants like this before, but at least those exhibit some sort of warmth and charm - La Manda's does neither. That's something I'll keep in mind if I ever decide to sit and eat here - this time though, I was just here for a pickup. We got a large pizza with peppers and onion, and also a cheese calzone. The pizza was pretty tasty - I was kind of expecting more topping, but the crust was good and it had good flavor overall. The calzone was huge - the menu says it serves four and it definitely can. What I liked about the calzone was that it had just enough filling and they accented the cheese with green onion which added a welcome layer of flavor. So, while I don't find La Manda's aesthetics to be welcome, I do find their food to be some of the better Italian I've had in Westchester. Also, whoever took my order on the phone was super charismatic. I think he also rung me out when I got to the restaurant - he was awesome so kudos to him for awesome customer service. I would return to try menu items beyond pizza - I'm a big fan of old school Italian restaurants so I'm glad this place is here.

First of all, I really couldn't decide what I wanted with all the beautiful looking pizzas in the display case. I decided on the Triple Grandma, even though I'm not a big fan of Pesto sauce. The pie is a traditional Grandma with three sauces: Traditional Pizza Sauce, Vodka Sauce, and Pesto. The sauce is arranged beautifully in diagonal stripes, which adds to the appetizing aroma. The beautiful aroma was wafting through the car as I drove home, only making me more hungry. Hot home, opened the box to reveal this thing of beauty. Now, if it only tastes as good as it looks... Wow! Absolutely fantastic! I asked the owner to make it well done and the undercarriage was just the way I like it. Crunchy, the perfect chewiness, the dough is made dense enough to hold up to the wet and heavy topping. Perfectly constructed Grandma pie . I had a nice conversation with the owner. Very cool guy. I will be going back to try all the other pies (and there are many). You can probably eat there every day and not have the same thing for a month. My next selection will be one of the Detroit style pies. They looked delicious. Finally, a great pizzeria in Westchester. We've been deprived of a top quality version of this popular "American" staple for far too long. There are a few that straddle the line between good and great in these parts, but in my opinion, none I have tried have made it over the line until today. Go check out Pizza Fenice. You won't be disappointed.

If you've read any of my reviews you already know that one of the greatest sleeper food battles in the country is Grigg Street vs Luca's in Greenwich. The most underrated Cheeseteak battle in the world, right here under your nostrils. And you don't even know about it. Do yourself a favor, and educate yourself. I've gone back and forth. Most the time I have Grigg Street a .1 grade higher GASP. But other times I think they are even. I think I need more trials. Oh No! I must go again! - This is me being playful. Imagine the cruelty that the love(s) of my life most go through. Duller than a dump truck that's not street safe. - Anyways. Let me orchestrate a symphony for ya. Beautiful day. Little chilly actually if you ask me. Throw on a way too deeply opened quarter zip - no Nike tech - so that you can get a glimpse of a chain grazing the corner of my pectoral "muscle". I drive my motor vehicle across state lines to end up in the highfalutin Greenwich. Gorgeousness all over the place, my eyes hurt from gazing through exteriors and into souls. Out of place? No. I looked rather handsome this day, or said the chimpanzee that's befriended my pet mule Paco. But was I a foreigner? At the moment, yes. Yet not for long. So all delulu, I stumbled into a side block down a flight of stairs and into a straight up dungeon with a dragon spitting absolute fire in many forms at the open-faced visible ovens. I walked up to the counter and attempted to rizz up the cashier. She did a good job at resisting my aura. Marginally completely ignored me but that negative energy has no impact on a Sigma such as myself. Couldn't even tell if she had the gyatt or if she were mid, but it doesn't matter. Whatever. I'm not mad. That's not even what I was here for. I was here for a slice and a Cheeseteak. Whatever. I ghosted her first. Just PUT THE FRIES IN THE BAG! Anyways. Behind the counter the chef runs a tight ship. Would call him a pirate, first word that came to mind. He crashed out about five times and mogged roughly five unassuming customers and I absolutely loved it. That's how cocky pizza makers should be. No skibidi. No 6-7. All action, no BS. LET HIM COOK. You can only order in 15 min increments on the website. This, again, is a tight ship. So I ordered the cheesesteak and then added a slice to my purchase when I got there. Genius, I know. Why don't you tell huzz behind the counter who thinks that because she ate that she don't have to lock into to the gracefully aging unc who graced her presence. No glaze ofc. ANYWAYS. The cheesesteak is simply one of the best in the world. Straight chungus... this thing is structurally sound at an absurd diameter and circumference. Theres really not an argument to its greatness. The bread is filthy good. The cheese/sauce has some type of extra tang/spice that raises it another level. The meat is just wonderful. I mean this thing is so delicious that it's 9:30AM and I'm contemplating ordering one right now. JUST LOOK AT IT. And the pizza? Mid 8s. That's a nice score. Sourdough crust that dominates a bit because of its charred taste and texture. A good sauce almost wish there were more. Really aromatic, really fresh cheese. Super super deceptively light I could've polished a pie and I probably will at some point. Really liked it, need to try more slices. This place, across all metrics, passed the vibe check. Hits all the KPIs. Love the downstairs dark vibe. And call me Frankenstein but they hit the nail on the head with their two specialties: Pizza and Cheesesteak. Who doesn't love that combo? When we walked in there was no sign as to where to wait if you had ordered ahead of time. We stood to the side for a few minutes until we were yelled at by the cashier for taking up space.
