Stopped by sunday night for dinner to sit on the patio. We've been pretty careful with eating out so it's a very rare occasion for us during COVID. The tables are well spaced but we were also the only group on the right side patio. FOOD: We ordered some delicious food!! Good prices on HH and daily specials. Margaritas are weak. Mexican Martini aren't consistent..."hit or miss" sometimes good but sometimes not. Cold Beer is cold. But overall the food was so-so. No lunch menu, but they do have a Daily Special. We had the Tavern Tacos, Tuna Tostaditas, & Chicken fajita quesadilla. Tavern Tacos: 1/2 Tinga Chicken - tasted like boiled chicken with very little flavor. 1/2 pork carnitas - outstanding flavor! Although they were the Smallest Corn Tortillas in ATX/I've ever seen. Approx 5 inches in diameter! Pretty sure the cup of hot sauce my have been bigger. Tuna Tostaditas: Same size corn tortilla as the Tavern Taco but they're crunchy. Tasted was okay. Nothing particularly special about them; the horseradish guac gave them a little zing. Chicken fajitas quesadillas: Decent size. Lots cheese & chicken. Good and filling. I really don't understand the low reviews for this place. The food is great for what it is. It's Tex mex. It's not authentic and it doesn't pretend to be. The truck stop enchiladas are incredible. The flautas are great. The margaritas are tasty. We rarely have to wait for a table which is nice and usually there is plenty of parking. I've been here twice (and plan to return many more times) and have a had a consistently very good experience. I've tried their portobello mushroom bowl and the grilled veggie fajitas. Plates can be a bit pricey, but servings are large and usually constitute 2-3 meals if you take leftovers. The chips are great, salsa is spicy, and the interior is awesome! ALSO the tortillas here are the best I've found in Austin in all my six years here. My favorite Mexican place in the city by far, and I'm kind of sad it took me so long to find the place. It would be super cool if they'd provide some non-meat protein, but, hey, I'm still not complaining. Fantastic Tex-Mex and a staple for someone who lives in the neighborhood. Perfect distance to walk in, grab a margarita, and walk home! The salsa here is really good. Like, *really* good. I loved their queso with chorizo, but found myself going back for more salsa instead! I love the enchiladas here, and the ones I've had come with pickled red onions on the side. Very interesting artwork. Their signs are made from cut up licenses plate and they have such a cool wall of doors that just makes the place feel a homey vibe. Their food was delicious! Their red snapper did not disappoint. The queso is a must try. I will be coming back.! read more

We returned to La Mancha for the Monday, 2 for 1 fajita special. We are regulars for this and convinced it's one of the best deals anywhere on the planet. For readers in the future, this is mid-March and at the beginning of this event called the coronavirus contagion crisis. Who knows if that future reader laments how cavalier we were or shocked as to how draconian the measures were taken. Either way, we were very pleased to see the staff diligently sanitizing all services and menus and a sanitizer station near the front door. That all being said, the fajitas were delicious. read more

We come here a LOT since this is one of my kids' favorite place to go eat. The big plus here is that there is NEVER any wait when we go. We get seated right away, service is relatively friendly and quick, important when you are towing kids around. My favorite here is the Caldo de Pollo. It comes with a cup of spanish rice that I usually just dump on the soup bowl and mix it with everything else. My next favorite is the Portobello Mushroom bowl. Dulcinea is also a great light dish that I order a lot. I like Tacos al Pastor but I usually avoid La Mancha's because I had better Tacos al Pastor some place else. I also avoid their Veggie Enchiladas because I like a lot of spinach in my enchiladas and theirs don't have much spinach (they have other veggies in it). read more

I've been to La Mancha twice and ordered takeout from here once. I've enjoyed all of my experiences so far, and I'd say this is an excellent spot for TexMex in North Austin. I've ordered tacos, enchiladas, and their quesadillas. My favorite so far is their crispy beef taco! I also appreciate that they have Pacifico available, as it's my favorite beer for a michelada. My only suggestion for them is to thicken up the chicken tinga sauce a bit; it was a little watery albeit very delicious. read more

There are two categories of average tex-mex in town... some that you avoid because there are better options, and the better options. La Mancha is on the better half. However, it's not one of those spots that exceeds expectations. Everything I've tried is slightly too spicy for me, but I'm a wimp. The other day I had the Barbacoa Enchiladas, and was generally impressed. Years ago co-workers used to come here for a special Beef Fajitas deal but I was newer in town and didn't have much of a point of reference to review those. I think I was underwhelmed by veggie quesadillas and a salad I also tried back then. They offer multiple types of beans instead of just refried. Patio seating is plentiful and comfortable. We came here for Saturday lunch because I expected it to have a shorter wait time than more popular restaurants, which was a good strategy. We got a table right away and service was prompt. Pretty underrated Tex Mex restaurant that people need to enjoy. It was not busy on a Saturday so my party of 4 was seated immediately. This restaurant is pretty large so it is also good for large parties. Service was great, not issue at all. Extensive and pretty standard Tex Mex menu. I had never heard of this restaurant, and I wish I hadn't, because I will never look at restaurants the same. Upon my left turn onto Hancock from Burnet, my life was changed forever. The view of the glistening "La Mancha" lights lit up the evening sky. The large patio with immaculate vibes were immediately following. After throwing my car in park, I was welcomed by the tune "Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. I cannot imagine much better songs to brighten up my day. However, the entire playlist matched the electric energy. After walking through the front door, I was greeted by Bo and Israel, the best tag-team duo I have ever had the pleasure of being served by! They were lightning fast with our margaritas (within 45 seconds). The fresh food came out in glorious time as well. I ordered the barbacoa enchiladas, and may I say, they did not disappoint in the slightest! I will 100% be serving these at my son's 19th birthday party. To wrap up the review, this is the best establishment I have ever been to. Bo and Israel are some of the best people I have ever met, and I would follow them anywhere. Underrated Tex-mex Spot in Austin! Came here for lunch with my mom & sister on a Tuesday and was pleasantly surprised by the meal. We ordered chips & queso to start, I had the sour cream enchiladas, and my mom and sister had the chicken quesadilla and beef enchiladas respectively. Everything was hot & fresh and very clearly homemade. Sour cream enchiladas were great! The beans on the side felt like they were missing something, but it's only a side dish so not too important. We visit La Mancha on a regular basis because we have friends who live in the neighborhood and the restaurant makes an easy meetup spot for Friday dinner with our kids. You've got your traditional Tex-Mex, but you've also got some elements from Interior Mexican cuisine, too, including several tasty seafood options and non-cheesy/greasy things. It's easy to find something for the big eaters and the fitness freaks. My faves include the tuna tostaditas, the tavern tacos (chicken, pork, or shrimp), and the shrimp & crab chile relleno. And I love the crunchy tart cebollas en escabeche on every plate. + Covered patio! With TV for watching the big game (if you're into that sort of thing like we are). We've seen a couple of Longhorn games here and it's been a fun crowd. + Super family friendly. Stopped by Saturday afternoon shortly after opening for a late lunch and drinks. No wait and sat inside as the patio was kind of full. Drinks - ordered the mexican martini and it was awesome. A bit sweeter than what we are used to but a great take on it. Shaker is enough for two people, so easy to share and order more if you need to. Food - we ordered queso, la mancha salad, and ceviche. The waitress started off strong, getting our drinks and order in in a timely manner....20 minutes past...30 minutes...we had to lean over and ask the host where our waitress was to check in the food. The atmosphere was surprisingly nice. For being tucked off the main road, it is a spacious restaurant that could hold a large group, and the ambiance is very quaint and comfortable. I rated it 3 stars for the simple fact that the I was not impressed by the food at all. It wasn't gross - it just wasn't great. Today was my second time eating at La Mancha, and my meal today was phenomenal! We were greeted with chips and salsa as soon as we sat down -- the chips were perfectly crunchy and the salsa was spicier than most Austin restaurant salsas (which I loved!). The waiter brought waters and took our order very quickly, and the food was brought out within 10 minutes. I ordered the veggie enchiladas with ranchero sauce and black beans, and my partner ordered the Don Quixote plate. We both had absolutely no complaints about our respective meals and are definitely adding this restaurant to our regular rotation. As a vegetarian, the amount of options La Mancha offers is wonderful, and the flavors are not skimped out on just because it's not meat. I am a big fan of their chicken fajitas. The fajitas for 2 are more than enough for 2 people, and I always have leftovers. The flour tortillas are fresh and made in house. The rice is flavorful. The fajitas come with a few toppings like guacamole, sour cream, cheese, pico de gallo, and jalapeños. On Mondays the fajitas are 2 for the price of one.
