SCORE!! Jellyfish had incredibly flavorful food and service top notch!! We started with the tuna crudo which was UH-May-Zing! The combination of textures and flavors was superb and the tuna wonderfully fresh! Chilmole tempura was MAGNIFIQUE!!! Honestly, I'd come here and just get 2 servings for my entire meal and be happy, haha. We also split the fried polenta. That was heartier than expected for polenta - almost like fried mashed potatoes - but still very delicious with the meat stock as a flavorful "thick" broth. I had the hanger steak with French fries (felt kinda steak frite-ish tonight) and my friend had the rotelle with bone marrow. The hanger steak was cooked to perfection and fries just the right crispness for my liking. My friends rotelle was just OK (hence the 4 stars) and the big bone with fatty marrow scooped out at the table was just - unexpected and weird. Just wasn't appetizing after that Perhaps it's more of the norm with French Quebec culture and cuisine and our American expectations jaded the experience. But hey! We tried it Overall, I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to tourists and if I were staying longer, I'd definitely come back.

It is a small restaurant off the beaten path. According to our server, mostly patrons from the business district for lunch and tourists in the evening, like us. We speak a little above basic French and our server allowed us to speak when ordering, but was gracious when we got out of our league and took over in English. Not to worry, you do not need to speak French in Montreal. It was enjoyable for us though, to at least keep the skills fresh. We ordered the filet mignon with the mashed potatoes and asparagus and two cocktails. The cocktails were refreshing and light. The dinner came and the meal was cooked perfectly to order and delicious. There are a couple of photos of the meal in the picture queue and it looked exactly the same. The meat was so tender and of high quality. The only problem, for my wife and I at least, is that the sauce was not necessary. We like the taste of the meat and do not require a sauce, but in this case, it was very appropriate for the plate. Just saying for those of you who might have the same palate. Overall a great experience and a delicious meal. If ever in Montreal again this will be a must stop. The also have an ample wine selection. You can find something affordable and appropriate for the meal.

For a lunch at this price, the food was not that good. The chicken is very dry and tasteless. The salad was okay. We got…read morethe sharing menu as we were a big group and it's perfect because you get to try a big variety of meals to share and the portions are bigger than you would expect. Everyone was very full after all the food. It's hard to pick a favourite dish because they were all so good. The service is very friendly and they take the time to explain the dishes as you get them and are very attentive. Lots of seating too so this place is absolutely ideal for big groups who wanna share food. If you have someone who has allergies or is vegan/vegetarian however, the tasting menu cannot be changed so that is a bummer. IfThey do have some vegetarian options in the sharing menu but not a lot so keep in mind to check with your group prior to picking this place if the sharing menu works for everyone. You can also definitely order the meals yourself and not go for the group menu but I found the group menu great because we got a taste of everything and we didn't have to worry about not having enough.

Overall: A // 5 stars…read more Compelling restaurant offering modern fare with global inspiration. The food is innovative, exciting, and refreshing. Every dish was excuted to the highest of quality, and the command of service is certainly no less. (Bluefin Tartare: A) - Fresh and light Asian-forward profile on a tuna tartare, with a stunning tapioca chip and a refreshing blend of cucumber and other accompaniments with the tuna. (Octopus: A) - The flavor of this dish is perfectly balanced with a seafood saline coming from the octopus, complemented by the sweetness of the peppers and the acidity of the olives. The octopus is impressively tender and could not be cooked nor seasoned better. The potato component was omitted due to dairy, but the dish is already perfect to me. (Squid Ink Spaghetti: A) - Perfectly cooked pasta being just on the verge of al dente, but still soft enough. The sauce is well made, not being runny and just coated enough to give the pasta and seafood flavor without overpowering. The breacrumbs add a different saline and textural component to the dish pleasantly, which builds on the lovely sweet and spicy tomato sauce. For my entree, I had the Paccheri pasta with braised lamb ragout, stracciatella, pine nuts, and pecorino. Also very good. Not a huge portion but you don't want that when you eat pasta. And I still could not finish it all. Desserts were shared. Loved the chocolate dessert. So yummy. Overall a really nice meal.

Lunch Tasting Menu at Restaurant Ermitage (Montreal)…read more I've been coming to Ermitage since their original location, and every time I visit Montreal from New York City, it's one of my must-stop spots. It's such a joy to see them still thriving--elegant, warm, and deeply rooted in tradition. This visit, we indulged in the lunch dégustation menu, and it was truly exceptional from start to finish. We started with a refined fish platter--salmon, sturgeon, mackerel--followed by luxurious salmon caviar with warm blinis and crème fraîche. A perfect, classic beginning. The "Trip to Russia" plate featured beef pelmeni, mushroom vareniki, and meat pirozhki--each bite full of comfort and heart. Then came a lovely surprise: a vodka and mint sorbet--a nod to the classic French trou normand, meant to cleanse the palate and awaken the senses before the main course. Light, bracing, and beautifully timed. For our mains, I had the lamb rib chops glazed in porcini and Madeira--tender, flavorful, and decadent. My husband went with the beef stroganoff, creamy and perfectly balanced--an absolute standout. We paired the meal with their smooth lemon-infused vodka, which brought a bright, elegant lift to each course. Dessert was simple and satisfying: cheese-filled blinchiki served with tea. A sweet finish to a thoughtfully curated meal. The service was warm, the setting intimate, and at C$116 for two, this 7-course experience is a true hidden gem in Montreal. After all these years, Ermitage continues to feel like home. We'll always come back.
