Absolutely fabulous experience from the moment we arrived. The Maitre D' was so pleasant and accommodating. We had an aperitif while we waited for our table on the patio. The food was excellent and the wine list is better than most 5 star places, not too many offer an exceptional St Emillion Grand Cru by the glass. This place was just ok. My fiancé and I had been visiting Dublin and the rest of Ireland for the last 6 days and really just wanted to do something a little different than pub food. We love French and since we figured we were the closest we'd ever be to France, we'd give it a go in Dublin. For appetizer we ordered the pea risotto, which was the right texture, but kind of bland. Then my fiancé got the Canard de Challand. I really enjoyed his, we specially the grapes that were mixed in with the orange sauce. He said it the duck was a little overdone, but maybe that's how I like duck. I had the Traditional Cassoulet which was very tasty, especially the lamb and the duck confit. However, the beans in the stew were really underdone, giving the dish an odd texture, which was a shame because I usually love the beans in a cassoulet. The restaurant itself is a tiny and intimate and I liked how they had a lot of outside seating. Since we came to the restaurant on a whim, we didn't make reservations, but luckily we were able to get a table towards the kitchen. Overall, I enjoyed the restaurant and the food. It was a nice change from pub food, but it definitely wasn't the best French I've had. read more

Free bread and a delicious dip to start aaand some free chocolate to finish. Who doesn't like free things? But it's not just the free things that give this place five stars. Have been here a couple of times and really enjoyed it. They have a great early bird menu, 22 euro for two courses and 27 for three. I'd definitely recommend the bavette steak and the 'Assiette méditerranéennes' (A la carte menu). It comes with four or five different nibbles - sundried tomatoes, olives, cheese, caramelized onions and olive tapenade. More than enough for two people! read more

Mmmmm, I can smell the bread just thinking about it (or by walking by). La Maison Des Gourmet is a gorgeous bakery near the Powerscourt Centre. It's as cute as it sounds, just a small space packed full of gorgeous pastries, breads, buns and cakes. It's so French... proper buttery croissants and crumbly pastry. They also have a salon de thé upstairs but I haven't had the pleasure. It's a great idea though. I'm more of an impulse buyer, caught by the aroma as I'm walking by. Mmmm... cakes. read more

Wow! I don't usually write reviews.. but, my evening in La Maison, was fantastic! So, I got the lead out to write one. From the entree...Snails smothered in garlic... (not for moi) but my hubby got stuck in and relished them. He was in heaven. He also ordered Clams....again orgasmic. I had a taste and I have to admit they were delish!! My own choice for starter was the Pate... and that was equally fab. I was given a selection of pate's ( 6, I think) with delicous crusty bread and pickles. So good!. Our mains, Monkfish wrapped in chorizo - again fantastico! I went for the Duck...delicous. Mind you, the corn bread I would slice in half and serve crispy. But that's just me. And as for desert... we both shared ...Vacherin Glacé (Vanilla Ice-Cream, Berry Sorbets, Light Custard & Baked Meringue) Absolutely devine!!! When I venture into town again, it will be to La Maison!!! Only one negative comment (and that is to all restaurants)... please drop your vino prices. I have been at "La Maison" yesterday evening and I were surprised to see that it was tastier than many of typical restaurant in France, even though the chef was French himself. We had a starter (onion soup and homemade pâté), a main course (coq au vin and lemon sole) and a dessert (tarte tatin) and everything was incredibly smooth and tasty. The room is not really big but I would say it might be better considering the little time of waiting between each dishes (obvious, since everything is homemade and very somptuous). Maybe going there during the week is a better idea because it seems that the more people are ordering at the same time, the longer you might wait and fortunately, we managed to go there monday. Amazing, my favorite restaurant in Dublin! Both food and service are great.You have to try the different pate's,the duck and dessert, and every dish on the menu!! They have a great selection of wines as well. In contrary to what you'd usually expect from a French restaurant, their portions are sizable so you'll definitely leave there feeling full and satisfied. Go check it out for yourself! read more

Went here last night and really enjoyed this place. It is small and cosy and the staff were very nice. My husband and I shared the pate starter, which consisted of several pates he got from their pate trolley. I've never seen a pate trolley before and think it's a great idea. Our mains were very good (a venison dish and a salmon/cod/mussels dish). Good wine selection (the bottle we had was very drinkable and not ridiculously expensive). And we finished off with a cheese plate and again got to pick a variety from a cheese trolley. Quite simply, this was good food and good service in a relaxed, comfortable and informal atmosphere. The place was almost full and had a good buzz on a Thursday night. For us, this place ticked all the boxes and we've already made a reservation in a couple weeks when we have a friend visiting. read more

Had a delicious meal in La Maison last night, was so busy and the atmosphere was great- felt like a Saturday night rather than a Thursday! Food was great - surprisingly big portions for a French restaurant I felt. The green salsa that they serve alongside the bread is worth a mention - it sure packs a massive flavour punch! Make sure your partner also partakes in some if you're on a date though, as it's quite pungent in the garlic department! Would definitely return, another sample of their scrumptious apple tarte tatin alone would be reason enough for a second visit! read more

We had the pate sampler and the cream of mushroom soup as starters, beyond words good. My companion had the duck entree and I had the venison. OMG. The entire meal was fantastic. Had lunch at La Maison during a trip to Dublin. I ordered the salad nicotine and my partner had the duck confit. Both took a little time to get to our table which was ok at the time but would have been about maddening had I to get back to work. The salad nicotine was served with fresh tuna - lightly cooked and served room temperature. The greens were fresh and the dressing was not overpowering. The duck confit was declared a real success. Service was very friendly especially when we needed to move tables out of the drips from the rain landing on their canopy. Fresh bread and kerry gold butter kept the hunger at bay while we waited for the main course. read more

After so many years of wanting to try this place, I finally did! For starters I had their Mille feuille de chèvre, and initially I was bitterly disappointed seeing that the goat's cheese was fresh and not dry, as I much prefer it, especially in a hot starter. However, it was delicious, I'm not sure where they source their cheese but this was one of the best fresh goat's I've ever had. My partner and I then shared a gigantic slab of meat, their rib of beef. It came with little tomatoes on the vine, chips, salad and gravy. It was heaven... meat heaven. Cooked medium rare, just perfect. The chips were equally amazing. The service was very attentive, but the room itself was quite warm and stuffy, which is the only negative thing I have to say! read more

I just adore bread so this shop cum restaurant is a godsend for me. Like the name suggests it has more of a continental feel to it than most bakeries in Dublin. The range of bread you can just is just inbelievable. Every time I go in there they seem to have a new product in and its invariably delicious. Also there for temptations sake are their fruit tarts, which I have tried a couple of times and really enjoyed. I mainly go in for the bread though, which is always fantastic and I make sure to stock up because try as I might I can never save it for long, I end up eating it all the same day! read more

Had a fantastic dinner here a few days ago, three course meal for two. We ate out on the terrace which stayed nicely heated even as the temperature dropped as the evening went on. Starters were excellent, especially the platter of dips which we could've happily eaten all night. Followed up by sharing an enormous cote de beouf that was cooked to perfection and finishing up with a gorgeous lemon tart. Had lunch here on Easter Sunday with my daughter. It was my third visit here and decided to return as it was so good on my last visits. I love the decor, I feel transported to Paris and I always try to sit outside and watch people stroll past, they have overhead heaters so its not too cold. on my last visits I went for dinner and always had the beef for 2 people which is really excellent, would highly recommend, this time I had the set lunch menu and the food was not as good as before but in fairness it is quite cheap. I had the soup to start which was nice enough but the steak sandwich was just about okay, the steak was a little tough. I still love this place and would go back but I think I would stay away from set lunch menu. read more

really enjoyed my first experience at La Maison. nice touch upon arrival, being given a complimentary glass of proseco as we waited for our table. atmosphere within is pleasant, intimate and busy. I had the pate as an entree and I think based on the amount provided, its for sharing as it was a sizeable amoint. Really tasty and a great choice provided. My friend had a green salad which had a flavoursome dressing. Opted for the Beaujolais Villages which went well with the venison I ordered. friend had the barboury duck. I think we were both really happy with our choices, the length of time between servings was ideal and the wait staff were nice but not a burden. the style of the upstairs section is really cool with classic french gastro posters dominating ths walls. would return read more

French cuisine tweaked for the Irish palate, very pleasant indeed. The early bird is very reasonable, at €24 for three courses before 7pm, Mon-Thurs. I had a mozzarella and tomato tartine to start, and the hake for the main course, followed by mousse au chocolat. It really was yummy, although the tartine was a little more Italian than French and the mousse was a little sugary for my tastes. A really good value and tasty meal, beautifully presented, and one of the waiters is just impossibly French. I had a lovely evening. read more

I went here last night with my husband for a romantic meal...and it delivered! My husband who is not ordinarily a fish lover had the monkfish risotto main and i had coq au vin...both delicious! The house red was a beautiful well balanced wine at a reasonable eur21. For dessert i would recommend the creme brulee..i managed to coax a spoonful from my companion...while i had the peach tart...almost perfect..just needed to add more almond and a little more warmth..v v cold outside!
