This is really great Mexican food for a reasonable price. Love to go there with my lunch friends. It's quick to get in and out.

I do think the food is pretty good with tasty favour of the tamales, beans, and rice. The service is pretty good with friendly wait staff. As for the inside, it looks pretty good. But the seating are not stable. Overall, its a good restaurant. read more

This is something that makes my day seeing a family owned establishment with amazing service and food love this place

mixed review 1-food was GREAT...authentic and tasty and reasonably priced 2-waitress staff was GREAT ...friendly and nice 3-NEW policy's...$ for "set up fee is understandable & is now added to menu...but unreasonable administration. --said it is the fee for chips & salsa (used to be complimentary). -- no plates offered with chips anymore. We ate off napkins 4-we're seniors and don't eat much so shared a meal. The meal came with no extra plate. To her credit the waitress asked if I wanted a plate. Weird that she'd have to ask. Unlikely that I'd reach across the table. Normal customer service. So far...nothing to make us reconsider coming here. Until we talked with the manager. He didn't even pretend to listen to us. He kept trying to justify the fee but refused to listen to our concerns. Tried to make our concerns clear..,told him the FOOD and WAITRESS STAFF were great!! Told him we're long time customers And stopped here every time we come thru this area, which is often. I explained the $3.95 was reasonable IF it were coupled with reasonable customer service policies. instead of listening or even pretending to listen he simply talked about cost of food etc IF he would've practiced customer service and listened (or even pretended to)... he would still have us as customers. He didn't seem concerned at all when we told him we're wouldn't be back. TO MANAGER...please learn to listen. Customers like to feel valued. Our $ may not be important to you...but youll lose more customers if you can't smile, pretend to listen, and thank your customers for coming. Easy trade off. OR maybe you could raise the setup fee to offset lost business. Iowa former customers read more

The food is authentic and very well prepared. The owner and staff really care for their customers.

Amazing! As soon as you get out the car you can smell the food. I'm really picky so I chose the two tacos plate and it was amazing. Rice and beans were good and the tacos OMGGG AMAZING . Actual Mexican tacos! Not to mention the staff was very nice and helpul. Chips and salsa are sooo good too. Definitely recommend read more

La Macarena - a plate of mexican food - Mexican Near Me - Perry, Oklahoma

This place is a must! Probably the best Mexican food I've had that didn't come from my grandma's or relative's house, and that is coming from a Mexican. I had the soup (mmm the best!) and my kids had a variety of dishes, all loved it! The chips and salsa (asked for the hot one..I couldn't get enough!) was awesome too. Kids liked the less hot stuff. I will make a special stop here every time I travel to and from Texas and Kansas from now on. read more

Really good place. They give you queso and salsa and then they offered two other salsas as well. I ordered lunch chicken fajitas which came on onion and peppers. Plus included pico and very flavorful beans and rice plus 3 tortillas. read more

La Macarena - Chicken fajita lunch. - Mexican Near Me - Perry, Oklahoma

A charming Mexican restaurant along the highway. The food was fresh and flavorful. The salsa was especially excellent!

Given with thin warm chips, salsa and queso, all complementary. Fajitas for two were ample and tasty. Too bad we didn't have time for a margarita as we were just traveling down the interstate. Don't be fooled by the exterior, it's located in an old convenience store that could use some exterior painting. read more

Amazing food. Excellent takeout. Large portions. If you leave hungry it is your own fault. This place is awesome!!!! Love their shrimp Diablo!!! Excellent white queso excellent charro beans!!! Good stuff!!!! read more

Gotta give credit where credit is due. Got here, enjoyed huge ice cold michalada's, immediately served hot chips with excellent salsa. (the hot version is excellent) Got the nachos for my appetizer (exemplary) and finished up with shrimp fajitas. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. The young girls who work here are well trained, friendly and efficient. The prices are reasonable to boot. What more do you want? Look, I'm not going to rate this place the same as a fine dining establishment, or high dollar steakhouse. You want good mexican food, here it is. read more

See all

Wowza!! I was really quite impressed after finding this quaint, home-style, Mexican restaurant in the middle of no where. The exterior is not shouting, "THIS IS WHERE YOU WANT TO EAT!" However, after reading the reviews on Yelp I decided to give it a try. Waitress was nice, helpful, courtesy, and attentive. I was served traditional chips with a yummy cilantro salsa and a separate dish of queso. The charro beans were excellent. ..seriously, a must try. My carne asada was perfect, and suprisingly tender. My veggies were better than mediocre. Very happy with overall experience. Priced very well!! read more

We stopped here for lunch on the road from WI to AZ. Several of the Yelp reviews said 'don't be fooled by the exterior' and so, while normally we would have bypassed La Macarena we decided to give it a shot. The place is much nicer inside than out. Bright colors and lots of booths by the windows that line the front of the restaurant and tables as well. We arrived early for the lunch crowd and so we were told we could have our choice of seats. We picked a booth by the window. I noticed that many of the booths have seen better days with rips in the coverings, however the tables were all clean and tidy. Someone appeared immediately with a big bowl of good tortilla chips and we each got our own dish with a very good salsa and also our own dish with a warm melted cheese sauce. Both were very tasty and allowed for double dipping - yeah! I ordered a combination plate with one beef taco and one chicken enchilada. The combo came with rice and beans and some shredded lettuce and tomato. The enchilada was quite good. I thought the beef in the taco could have used some more seasoning, it was pretty bland. The service was very friendly and efficient. By the time we left the place was filling up. It was a pleasant surprise based on the exterior. read more

Traveling through so after reading good reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to stop. Disappointed I couldn't get a margarita ( only have beer) but the guacamole salad was delicious and so was the chicken chimichanga with white cheese on top! Salsa was average. Staff was friendly. Worth stopping by for a meal for sure. Prices were very reasonable. read more

Absolutely delicious, I personally recommend the dinner hot chimichanga. Great portion with endless nachos ,salsa and cheese dip. Didn't like the cheese dip, it can't be real. It's not a cheap place so expect that. 9 beers to choose form, half domestic and the other Mexican. This place get very busy on the weekend and I only got the food to go, so I can't comment on the service. I definitely recommend this little place don't judge it on the outside it nice enough on the inside. read more

Much better than you'd expect for roadside food. Served fast with friendly service. They serve ample salsa and queso with their chips. The guacamole was first rate. The burritos were good but simple. read more

This is the worst Mexican food I've ever had!! The nachos with ground beef were so bad I had to throw away and I'm not one to waste food, but it was so bad I just couldn't eat it! The biggest problem I see with their food is they don't spice it with anything. Heck they could have got some store bought seasoning and put some onions and cilantro and then maybe it would have been good. I think it all comes down to the fact that their food is all bland, definitely not authentic Mexican food and I've eaten it all over the states and Mexico. read more

Super friendly staff, and I love their salsa! I could eat here every night. Shrimp fajitas, white queso, and Tecate with lime are my favorites! read more

How this place only has 3 and a half stars is beyond me. The food continues to be great and everyone out there is so friendly. The parking lot is always packed at lunch and dinner but the service is fast. Call in orders never take longer than 5 to 10 minutes. 99 percent of the time my food is done by the time i get out there. read more

Went to la Macarena in Perry yesterday. Truly the worst Mexican I've ever eaten. Taco Mayo was better, and that's a low bar. The food was tasteless. The meal came out about 5 minutes after we ordered it. Not a plus. It was as though they had a cheap buffet set up and just slapped the food together. The queso was lumpy and watery and also tasteless. The taco had a boxed shell. The enchilada sauce was bland. The chips were only fair. And to top it off, the waitress was odd. The other staff was friendly. The bathrooms were in need of an update and there was a hump in The floor that my husband tripped over. Because I still had a need for good Mexican food, I went home and made street tacos. Those were delicious! read more

Pleasantly surprised for Perry Okla.! After being in Cali for over 17 years and having some really awesome Mexican dishes and meals I've become very critical of the Mexican food I grew up eating. My family raved that this was a great spot but I was still very skeptical. I am pleased to announce I went there twice during my visit! The salsa was fresh and tasty and the service was exceptional. They serve their beers like the Chavela's at Tlaquepaque in San Jose CA. The heavy frosted glasses with salt and lime! The portions were big and filling...definitely a great place to eat and relax. read more

I have been eating at La Mac since they opened and the food never is disappointing. The staff is always amazing and so friendly. They really know how to make you feel at home. The beer is always ice cold. If you are passing through and looking for a nice hole in the wall Mexican restaurant, stop and see Cesar and the crew! You will not be disappointed. read more

Food was very good, authentic Mexican. I had the quesadilla dinner and it was very tasty! Would come to this place again.

My husband and I love Mexican food. We are truck drivers and have eaten at a lot of Mexican restaurants. This was the worst. Should have known when the salsa tasted like watered down tomatoes. read more

Are you kidding? This is hardly a step up from Taco Bell. "Cheese" is mostly cream of chicken soup. Salsa is made in a blender. Perhaps to hide that it is Pace. I gave it one star because the chips were good. read more

I arrived at 5:00pm. I set down and ordered combination fajitas from the menu. I was served my plate by 5:10 so I knew some of what I was eating had been precooked. It was very good, however, and I left as a satisfied customer. They also bring chips and hot sauce and queso for free. read more

Great mom and pop Mexican restaurant! Staff is very courteous and friendly. The food is great. We got carne asada and it was very well cooked. Salsa is much better than any Mexican chain restaurant out there. Bathroom was super clean. This place has become our go-to-spot on our way to Kansas from Dallas. read more

I would not recommend this place to anyone. The cheese dip tasted like cream of chicken soup. My salsa was watered down and thin. I could have drank it from a straw. My husband's salsa was a bit greasy. I had the taco salad. They gave me about one tablespoon of pureed bland ground meat, with watered down bland canned refried beans, bloated rice, some lettuce, a pinch of cheese, a pinch of tomatoes in a taco shell with a side garnish of sour cream and guacamole dip. My kids chicken strips and fries looked like they were grocery store bought. If I wanted to eat out of a can I would have stayed home. The service was poor. The waitress was very impatient. When she asked me and my husband about our drinks my husband didn't order quick enough and she looked at me and said what are you the only one ordering a drink and walked away. No smiles and seat yourself service. read more

One of my favorite places to eat in Perry. The service is always friendly and the food is always fresh!

The salsa and queso were great-and hey weren't stingy with it. The food was good and the service was quick and friendly.

Ok. I have really liked this place for a long time. I would stop if I was passing through and needed a meal. Tonight, I got a room in the area and went here for dinner - in spite of reading the reviews. WOW - all true. Salsa and cheese dip "sucked". It was the worst I have ever tasted. Ordered nachos to be polite read more

We left full. Food was good but not amazing. They bring salsa and cheese dip to each diner and a large basket of chips. I did not like the cheese sauce by itself but was good after a few bites of salsa. The salsa was smooth like it had been made in a blender. We asked for some of their hot sauce which they brought out and was considerably warmer because of increased amount of jalapeños. I had the spinach enchiladas. White, sour cream sauce was good. Homemade corn tortillas. Dad got beef enchilada and quesadilla. He thought the enchilada a bit bland but the quesadilla was good, especially after adding salsa and cheese sauce. Unfortunately that had the effect of cooling everything off. Mom got the best deal in the ala carte chicken chimichanga. Enough food for 2 people. Served with the white sour cream sauce. Service was quick and polite. read more
