Service here 5/5 stars. Two wonderful employees answered our many questions and smiled the entire time. They told us their favorite savory and sweet top choices. Freshly made waffles here that are delightful and tasty. We ordered the $20 combo option of a savory waffle and an Authentic (no frills) waffle plus a drink. You can add toppings or order the specials with additional charges. The location is easy to find in the Koko Marina Shopping center. It is located closer to Zippy's. There is plenty of free parking available here. The store itself is clean and decor is minimalistic and relaxing. There is a water jug for complimentary water and syrup available for your waffle. I highly recommend trying the $20 combo special to try both types of waffles. We ordered our savory waffles- The Italian (prosciutto, pesto, sun dried tomatoes, and mozzarella buratta) and the Savory of the moment Cold Turkey & Pesto (pesto, turkey, fresh tomatoes, kale and spinach mix). The sweet waffle order- The Authentic (brioche, vanilla and caramelized) and one with added cinnamon and sugar ($1.00 more). Overall waffle rating here 5/5 stars. The warm mozzarella cheese stretched out with the thinly sliced prosciutto on first bite! The acidic taste from the sun dried tomatoes and pesto complemented the saltiness of the prosciutto and mellownesses of the mozzarella. A perfect combination. My partner in adventure loved her turkey pesto waffle! She noted that the texture of the warm waffle was the perfect chewiness and thickness. She devoured her savory waffle. We shared the Authentic. No toppings added. I wanted to taste the waffle plain. It was the perfect crispy then chewy first bite. Not too sweet with vanilla undertones. Then we tried it with the syrup they offered. The warm waffle did not need the syrup. It was delectable as The Authentic. Food here is a 5/5 star rating. Update: I forgot to mention that if you attempt to say the name of this place, you will receive a 10% off coupon for your next visit. La Liegoise also has a stamp card. Don't forget to get it stamped when you purchase!

Ohhh La Liégeoise!! Located in Koko Marina Shopping Center the storefront doesn't do it any justice and as soon as you walk in...the decor is quite minimalistic with the yellow walls and red and yellow tables it's quite spacious and clean just a bit blah. The menu on the flip side are all on the basis using waffles...Belgium to be specific you can go savory or create your own sweet which is what I did and it's $7 with $1 for each topping choice (Nutella and Strawberries and Bananas for me). They also have "Waffle of the moment" which are limited specials, including "topping of the moments" all this is so much fun be sure to check out all the chalkboards that's filled with various flavors of the moments. You can watch them build your selection which is fun and though they did have a bunch of tables I decided to enjoy my waffle in the back along the marina just before the sunset the view was just spectacular. The waffle was pretty hearty, the richness did slow me down quite fast as I enjoyed it but had difficulty just half way through, the Acai Berry smoothie was yummy it's not too sweet and paired well with my waffle. They do have a stamp card as well where 10 stamps gets you an Authentic waffle with a topping of your choice, staff here is great very helpful as I was so confused creating this unique treat. Thank you!

Inside after taking a bite of the authentic. You can't tell in the pic, but it's fluffy and delicious on the inside :)

Located in the old location where Sophie's pizza used to be, this place sells up fresh waffles with a unique twist :) I arrived about 15 min after they opened at 930, and though there was no line, 2 people were waiting for their orders. Unfortunately, only one lady was working so she had to make everything herself and run the cash register... so I had to wait awhile before she could take my order (however, I won't dock a star for this because a lot of places are short-staffed) I ordered the $20 combo which includes a savory waffle sandwich, the authentic, and a drink. For my savory choice, I chose the Italian, and I upgraded the drink option to an iced cookie butter latte ("speculatte") THE AUTHENTIC: I liked this the best (as it should be since it's their signature). The outside is slightly caramelized but the interior of the waffle is still fluffy.. and it's the perfect companion to coffee :) THE ITALIAN: two waffles (on the crispy side), with pesto, mozzarella cheese, sundried tomatoes, and prosciutto inside. Still pretty good with big pieces of sun dried tomatoes, but not my favorite as my waffle was a little burnt/too crispy on the outside for my liking. SPECULATTE: iced latte with cookie butter walls- this was good and paired well with the authentic I definitely look forward to coming back to try other items :). However, if you are in a rush, I wouldn't recommend coming here.

The Authentic (brioche, vanilla, caramelized) $7 with salted butter caramel $1.

La Liégeoise is a new, authentic Belgian Waffle shop at Koko Marina Shopping Center. There are both sweet and savory options but at the time of my visit on March 26th, the savory options were not available. I believe they rolled out savory staple options on April 1st. The staple sweet option is The Authentic for $7. The dough is palm-oil free, made with fresh organic eggs, brioche, vanilla and is caramelized. For just $1 more there is a plethora of toppings such as Nutella, Cookies and Cream, Salted Butter Caramel (my choice), Maple Syrup, Strawberry Jam, Whipped Cream, Speculoos Cookie Butter, White Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Choc'In (not sure what that is), Cinnamon Sugar, Powdered Sugar, and even a "Waffle of the Moment" or "Spread of the Moment". My waffle was homemade and prepared in front of me. It was served fresh and with a smile. There is a beautiful setting in the back with tables and chairs overlooking the marina where I could enjoy the waffle and bring my pup. So here is my verdict. It was not what I expected at all. The waffle was really heavy and I could barely finish it. It's heavy because it's more of a mochi-type texture and was not of the lighter, crispier variety to which I'm accustomed when I think about a Belgian waffle. The inside maybe needed to be cooked through more. It was too chewy and dense for me. I was expecting something much lighter and crispier. The topping I chose was delicious, but way too sweet. I was also really missing a cup of coffee to go with the waffle. That would have been a nice complement. So I later noticed on their wall menu "You can specify the cooking according to your taste". Could I have requested a longer cooking time? On my way back to my car I walked through the shop again and noticed almost everyone stopped eating their waffle about halfway through. Their forks were down, and they were sitting back in their chairs. I am assuming they hit the same proverbial "wall" I did when I tried to eat all of my waffle. It's just hard to finish and after a while, you start to feel like the dough doesn't sit well in your stomach. Maybe I will return to try a savory option. Maybe I'll return when they can serve coffee with my waffle. Maybe I'll return when I can specify the cooking so it's lighter, crispier and less dense. Or maybe, that's just how it's supposed to be.

Employees were friendly. My brother tried a waffle dog with cheese. I got the authentic waffle and matcha latte. They make it after you order it. Waffle was nice and warm, had some crispy parts and chew to it, tasted sweetened by maybe vanilla and caramelization. Matcha latte was okay, tasted earthy. Waffle dog was good also and some crispy bits, just the hot dog seemed a little salty. Saw they have frozen yogurt, may try that with a waffle next time.

    3/18/23 grand opening outside

Congratulations on your grand opening and thank you for the free waffles!! First 500 customers today, 3/18/23 Saturday get to sample a sweet waffle freshly made, and no line when we went! Tomorrow you can start to add a topping and in April they will start to do their savory waffles. Waffle was made fresh and hot when served and the brioche inside has a similar texture to a croissant, crispy on the outside. This place is between Mikinola and Zippys at the Koko Marina Shopping Center where Sophie's pizza place used to be. So glad to see new spots moving in after old ones are closing, Hawaii Kai needs some freshening to their food scene! Lots of parking in the shopping center but it can get crowded as they have many events or side walk craft fairs on the weekends. Looking forward to trying another flavor of waffle in the future!

I happened to be in the area and remembered about this shop. The owner was the. She's very friendly. The shop is clean and the decor is nice. I ordered the Italian savory waffle. It's a good size and filling for me. I decided to take it out instead of eating in. It was packed nicely. I shared it with my cousin. It was tasty and filling.

Waffles are freshly made in front of you. Crisp and perfectly sweet. We tried both the sweet and savory "Waffle of the Moment." Sweet had bananas, crème brûlée and crumbled Biscoff like topping. Savory had crisp bacon, goat cheese and maple syrup. Both were amazing. Restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. Fun French Aloha fusion.

Liége waffles are finally here in Honolulu! In case you don't know what they are, they're not the ones we Americans are familiar with. These Belgian waffles are made with pearl sugar and yeast so they are chewy and light with a kinda of a crunchy texture from the sugar. A little sweeter than the American ones. A friend who is aficionado told me that a shop opened in my neighborhood so hubby and I jumped in the car after dinner and headed right on over. The shop is located in Koko Marina Shopping Center on the water side. It's next to Zippy's. Tons of parking. The inside has a nice area with tables to enjoy your waffles So the waffle... so good! We ordered one with Nutella and banana. The "authentic" which is a basic unadorned waffle is $7 and additional toppings are $1each. The banana slices and Nutella were perfect on it. Then we realized that in order to really judge the waffle itself, we needed to get a naked one. So back to the counter to get an Authentic. Yes- this was the real deal! It was crispy with a sugar crunch and a chewy but light inside. Since it is made to order, it was hot and crispy. I recommend eating them there instead of taking them home. I would imagine it would lose some of its hot and crispy magic. The menu offers ones with savory toppings as well as smoothies but they won't be available til April 1. We will back to try them. Especially when we were given a stamp card! Come by-try something new and say bonjour (or in our case bonsoir) to the very nice brother and sister running the shop!

    Grand opening day!

The foodie scene in Hawaii Kai is heating up with a ton of new restaurants opening up, including this new Belgian waffle place that has taken over the space formerly occupied by Sophie's Pizza! They held their grand opening on Saturday, March 18, and offered 500 free waffles to those coming to help them celebrate. You could purchase waffles, they were just doing the free samples - you can begin purchasing the waffles with the variety of toppings starting tomorrow. Next week they will begin offering their smoothies, and then you can purchase the savory waffles starting April one. What makes these waffles special? At first bite you'll wanna leggo those Eggos forever - a brioche dough (Flown, In. From. France) with coconut margarine makes for a really fluffy, caramelized interior. Cannot wait to try the savory waffles!!

Nice ambience, nice people. Unfortunately, the liege waffles lack the traditional sugary crispy deliciousness of Belgian liege waffles. Though freshly made as I observed, the final waffle is soggy and lacks flavor. Super disappointing, especially after driving from north shore.

LOVE this shop! Delicious waffles & amazing service. The owner is so very kind and is willing to explain how things work if you are a first time customer. The options for sweet or savory waffles makes for great diversity. You can go there for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a snack! We have tried both the sweet and the savory and everything is delicious.... Don't pass this spot up, come and eat!!!! Our last order: 1.) The Authentic - Choc' in & Spread of the moment, Fruit Loops 2.) The Authentic - Maple Syrup, Cinnamon Sugar, Fresh Bananas on the side 3.) The Frenchie Drinks: Hawaiian Sun, Milk Box TOTAL $38.74 (Pre-Tax; $37.00)

Saw this place when I went to return an Amazon package to the UPS store. It's a cute little shop next to Zippys, right near the marina. At first we were confused because the sign said they were closed but people were inside and we weren't sure whether they worked there or not. Luckily an employee walked in and flipped the sign and we followed her in. The smell of freshly cooked waffles hit us and we took a moment to study the menu. There were lots of toppings to choose from, even a few savory options. Because we'd never tried these (I mean we have but never fresh ones) we decided to try the authentic version with no adornments. You can ask for preferred cooking time so I asked for extra crispy. There was seating inside as well as outside but because it was a bit warm we chose to sit inside. There was a small wait but that's because the waffles are made to order. When we finally got ours, it was warm and smelled delicious. I see a couple reviews who think these are the Brussels style waffles like Julian's but these are Liege waffles people. They're denser and studded with Pearl sugar which creates a nice sweet crunch while eating. And I must say these are absolutely delicious! They were crispy on the outside, tender and fluffy on the inside. Tbh these needed nothing added to them. The Pearl sugar inside gave them a nice sweet touch and you can actually taste a bit of the fermentation of the dough. Not too sweet which I prefer. The workers were very nice, especially the woman at the register who was nice enough to teach my sister how to pronounce the name of the store lol. Only downside is that they're on the east side and I no longer live out there. I will be making more trips that way to enjoy these waffles!! Liege waffles that aren't prepackaged. Love it!

However, at La Mer, I think almost every dish we just didn't like. For example, the first course was a foie gras dish with cotton candy which incorporated a sweet element with the foie gras. Not a good combination in my opinion. All of the other dishes weren't bad per se, but they weren't dishes that we felt ourselves wanting to eat or wanting to finish. I know restaurants change their menu's all the time so maybe it was just the dishes we happened to get that we didn't like. The manager did come to check in on us and we communicated how we honestly felt. They did make a very nice gesture of removing 2 of our drinks and 2 of our desserts which was appreciated. On the plus side, the restaurant sits on the 2nd floor and has great views of the ocean. The decor is also nice and the service was good. Just not our cup of tea and we personally wouldn't go back or recommend.

So we had a delicious onion soup and lobster bisque...our hostess flamed our lobster and it was quite the cool presentation...she's good! Our entrees were seafood bouillabaisse and salmon a with pasta...oh my goodness my salmon had a sauce to die for and the small teeny capers made the presentation beautiful. Best salmon I've had...so darn delicious! All the while we enjoyed sparkling water, sunset daiquiri, and sweetened plantation iced tea... We finished it off with our celebration and having presented the cherries jubilee...yum yum. As always we love seeing Phillip; he's a beautiful soul and is very personable. Also shot out to Kerwin who helped us with our car! Great night!

I purchased a nice bottle of wine for my dad and his wife's 10-year anniversary because I knew they were dining there. I triple-confirmed with the staff ahead of time that the bottle had been purchased, that it would be delivered to their table, and that the server would be aware of the arrangement. Not only was the message never relayed internally, but it created an incredibly awkward and embarrassing situation. The server apparently believed I had paid for the entire dinner rather than just the bottle of wine. My dad and his wife were under the impression that the whole meal had been taken care of. To make matters worse, the restaurant initially charged my card and then later canceled the charge. Instead of contacting me to clarify the situation, they called my dad after he and his wife had already left the restaurant to inform him that they still owed money and requested his credit card information over the phone to process the payment. Imagine celebrating your 10-year anniversary and then getting a call afterward saying you "forgot" to pay your bill. That is incredibly awkward and unacceptable. At no point did the restaurant proactively reach out to me... the person who coordinated and paid for the wine to explain the internal miscommunication. There was no accountability until I called to address it myself. Only then did they apologize and offer a future credit for them. What should have been a thoughtful anniversary gesture turned into an unnecessary embarrassment due to poor internal communication and lack of ownership. Extremely disappointing.

My daughter and I visited for the first time last night and I can say it is well deserving of its award winning status. Parking is located at the Hyatt Centric garage (validated) or on the street which can be a bit trickier. We ubered in. When we arrived at the time of our reservation, we were promptly greeted and seated at the chef's counter by Travis, the maître d'. natuRe waikiki offers a 6-course tasting menu with a Plant-Based Vegan option in the dining room and on the Chef's Counter and an a la carte menu at the bar. My daughter had the regular tasting menu with a few pescatarian substitutions and I had the vegan option. Being at the Chef's Counter, we were able to view Chef Yosuke Masaki (and interact with him) and observe his counter parts diligently work with precision and passion to create each plate. They used fresh, locally sourced ingredients to create dishes with French, Japanese, and Hawaiian influences. Each plate was uniquely delicious and uniquely artistically created. We were in awe as they meticulously plated each dish using tweezers. Presentation was nothing short of impressive. When each piece of edible artwork was placed in front of us, Travis or his counterpart, explained the dish, often times with a mini action which added to the beauty of the presentation esp the opening of the smoked dishes (Celery Root & Kaffir Lime). Everything had the"wow" factor but my standouts (Aina Tasting Menu, Vegan) were the Panipuri & Corn Fritto (cool in temperature, amazingly smooth in texture with pops of corn bits, lite and refreshing), Charcoal-Battered Heart of Palm (designed to look like lava rocks plated on real lava rocks), and the French Onion Soup Gratin (Super creative and fun! Soup placed back into the original onion which was used as the bowl. The entire onion with the exception of the skin was edible and absolutely delicious.). The highlight for my daughter (Hale Tasting Menu) was the Abalone Risotto. Much to our surprise, we were stuffed by the time the last plate was presented. The portions looked small but the satiety factor was deceiving. We felt the value of the experience far outweighed the cost. Kudos to Executive Chef Nae Ogawa (who was not present), Chef Masaki (who was a part of curating the menu), Travis and everyone else at natuRe waikiki for a creating a memorable dining experience. We loved our visit and look forward to visiting again. We also hope to one day experience natuRe tokyo.

Absolutely dreamy!! The abalone steamed with Sake was beautifully tender, and the green curry risotto absolutely knocked it outta da park!!! The squid with cauliflower dashi foam was another strong dish. The squid was incredibly tender, and the dashi sea foam was light, airy, and full of subtle umami. A great example of the chef's precision. Overall, the cooking shows a clear command of refined, "chefy" techniques The turnip mousse with caviar and olive oil , served in a coupe-style glass, was elegant in presentation but didn't quite deliver in balance. The turnip mousse was a bit too dominant and overpowered the caviar. The mushroom duxelles ravioli stuffed with mascarpone and ricotta also fell short. The pasta was undercooked to the point of chewiness . Firmer than expected for my taste even for al dente. It definitely distracted from delicate stuffing The chicken and mushroom reduction sauce definitely carried the dish, bringing depth of flavor. From a service standpoint, one moment stood out. When asked how the ravioli was, I gave honest feedback and was told that's how the chef intended it to be. That showed lack of grace for fine dining and didn't land well. If you're going to ask for feedback, don't be dismissive and defensive of the feedback. Also worth noting: after a $600 dinner for two, we asked for espresso at the end of the meal and were told the machine had already been turned off because they were closed. It's hard to take a "fine dining" restaurant seriously, when that happens. Overall, there's a lot of skill and thoughtful technique here, with some genuinely standout dishes . But also a few inconsistencies that keep it from being a top-tier experience. Happy Eating!! 38

I…read moreremember well the food being outstanding and the service was more than what I had then expected.... Here is my story: Located in the same place for 35 years plus. Duc opened his restaurant in the 1980's. Duc's Bistro is one of the original ethnic Vietnamese restaurants who opened in the 1980's and still continues to serve our community. Do not leave without bidding aloha to Duc who today is in the kitchen with his wife who both prepares all the food. His son now runs the front of the house along with staffers who have been there for years on end. The food is French Vietnamese. Of their slim clear concise menu, my favorite is their Roast Pork and Duck Pate. While all the dishes are good, those two stand out for me. And be sure you save room for their desserts. Their dishes are prepared and served such that if you choose to dine "family style" you have definitely sat at the right Establishment. The location remains the same. First Establishment on the westside of MaunaKea and Beretania Streets. Validated parking if you can get a staff in the lot across the street from Duc's. Bright Pink and Green Neon Sign for Duc's Bistro. You cannot miss it! Full bar or $25 corkage if you bring your own wine. Soft drinks and Vietnamese Hot or Cold coffee available also. Price point is approximately $50 per head from start to finish. Plan to have a meal there! You will not be disappointed.

Located in Waikiki along Lewers Street near Kuhio Ave. It's on the first floor sharing the same building with Oyster Hale and Genius Lounge. They don't have any affiliation with any parking garages, you're on your own. The inside is surprisingly big and spacious with bar and outdoor seatings, and high ceilings in the main dining room. The main theme is Spanish Tapas with mostly small or bite size dishes with a few paella and main entrees. Everything sounded good! "Pinchos" dishes is really just one bite. The Smoked Salmon was nothing special. It ate like a normal salmon with cream cheese. The other flavors such as dill, pink peppercorn, and orange did not come out. The Buñuelos Butterfish Fritter were good. Light, airy, doughy! nicely fried and seasoned. Didn't really taste much butterfish. The Tapas were a generous amount! The Shrimp Ajillo was flavorful with paprika and garlic. Shrimp was cooked well. The spice didn't come out from the dried chili peppers. The best was the Housemade Baguette! Warm, soft inside, crunchy outside. Better than at Vietnamese restaurants! Unfortunately, the dish and sauce was too salty--even for a person who likes more taste. The Octopus Ala Gallega was very good. Nicely grilled octopus to tender with a nice charred taste. Just needed some salt. Potatoes were good. Chimichurri sauce was flavorful. Generous amount of olive oil. The Uni & Crab Pasta was all right. I've had better. The spaghetti was a touch too Al dente. The flavor was very one note with the rich cream sauce and uni. There wasn't the sweetness from the crab. The cherry tomato was just there to be there for a bite. Would have been nice to get some acidity and sweetness throughout the dish. The Seafood Paella was very basic. Very disappointed with zero char on the rice. What's the point of the pan? It definitely needed higher heat. Everything ate like it was covered and simmered on low heat until the seafood was cooked. Very simple. The Ube Basque Cheesecake was good. Not too sweet, not too much Ube flavor with a light custard-like interior. Overall, this was a decent meal. All the dishes were beautifully presented, but needed some seasoning adjustments. Don't think I'll order the same dishes next time. The service was excellent. Very friendly, information, and attentive server. Comfortable dining area. Unfortunate it has no parking affiliation. I'll definitely comeback for their Housemade Baguette!
