Donald is my go to when it comes to all things car audio. We started with a low mile 2005 Mercedes E320 with an existing system but very old school. That was replaced with a Pioneer head unit with apple car play. It's the only reason our teenage boy drives the car. Steering wheel controls work and it has a Benz logo on startup. Next car he helped us with was a 2008 Smart Convertible. This time we went Alpine, upgraded the speakers and added an alpine sub hidden under the dash! Super sweet sounds, easy connection every time and really upped the experience when driving. The last car we worked on was a 1957 Porsche 356 replica. This car needed a loud system but one that would not ruin the aesthetic of the car. It too has a hidden sub now and the system is controlled by a phone so there is no visible deck. Overall, Scott took care of our installation...positive experience. However, make sure to save your receipts. Our work was completed in August '23...paid in full. Then in March '24 I received an outstanding bill of $500. I emailed the contact on the statement my receipts for the relevant invoice number..showing paid in full. Might have been an honest accounting error, but I never received a response back (i.e. sorry, our error trying to charge you an extra $500) which makes it seem a bit fishy. So...I bought a car in June 2020..Audi A7...the stock Bose, even when tweaked in my phone equalizer, poor bass. I was referred by Audi SD and I reached out. Within a week or two of booking my appt with La Jolla Audio, someone hit my car and I was in the shop for 6 weeks. He gave me exact specs of what would be installed, and sent pictures...He touched base over the course of the next several weeks. Friendly and professional! I went into their shop because my Tesla Model S factory stereo had crackling speakers in the front. This happened after Tesla upgraded my car from a MCU to a MCU2. If you turn the volume up to 4 or higher, the front speakers make a horrible crackling sound. Tesla wouldn't help me because it already had an aftermarket NVX subwoofer and amp. The guys are La Jolla Audio were happy to look at my car and offer their professional advice on what the cause would be. The nice thing is that they really knew their stuff in how Tesla's audio system worked. They spent about 20-30 minutes with me, even though they knew that I was going to troubleshoot it myself before taking it back to Tesla if their troubleshooting suggestions didn't pan out. The amplifier in my late model high-end car quit working. From the dealer I heard the dreaded, "oh, this happens all the time." AND, a repair estimate of $4K! My car was a 2017 model and at today's valuation this would have been about 10% of the total value of the car, to simply get the audio back working. I contacted La Jolla Audio and they explained what had happened, how they MIGHT be able to fix my current unit, and what it would cost. I was very impressed that they actually went down to the board level to try and fix my OEM amplifier....after some effort the damage (from water ingress) had been too great so they were not able to fix the OEM unit. However, the replacement AMP, was quickly sourced and Installed at a much reduced price to the dealership quoted price. If I could give them six stars I would. Courteous, knowledgeable, and Efficient. I completely recommend them! Very satisfied customer here. read more

If you drive a car that you care about this place is worth every penny! We came in to have Apple Play installed into our 2015 Range Rover Sport. Not an easy task considering the integration system comes from overseas and installation requires skilled hands and knowledge. End result was fantastic so I'll keep this review short and to the point. Skills: Not anyone can work on the electronics of high end automobiles (Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mclaren, Maserati, etc.) so there's a reason they always have a few of these rides at their shop getting work done by customers, dealers, etc. I think that just about says it all. Service: Let's face it, it is a shop that works on top of the food chain automobiles so you're going to get 5 Star treatment. Cost: No doubt you'll pay more for the work done here than elsewhere but how much is your ride worth to you? Everyone here is an expert not some novice trying to figure out how to do things at the expense of your electrical system, and wallet. Bottom line: You get what you pay for. If you want top of the line work/installations that seamlessly blends with factory then this is your place. If you want to cut corners/cost then look elsewhere. PS: This is far more than an audio shop. Security systems, cameras, etc. Taking in my off-road rig to have multiple cameras for those "can't see" rock crawling situations. read more

I was very happy with my repair here. It wasn't too complicated, and it didn't take too long. Very simply my SiriusXM antenna had gone bad, or the wire had frayed somewhere. The repair looked to be very neat, clean and sturdy. I elected to wait for the repair and it didn't take too long. Make sure to call for an appointment though. One thing to be aware of is that since its sort of out of the way in an industrial area, there isn't really anywhere to walk to for a snack or coffee while you wait. They do have a tiny waiting room, but given the current state of affairs I elected to just stroll outside. If you like trains you might be able to watch some while you wait! read more

I cannot say enough good things about Scott and Noah. I've had to go to these guys 3 times and I can honestly say I'd trust anything they said about car audio. The first time I went was because I needed them to fix problems created by 2 other audio installation places. The 2nd place I went to was unable to fix the problem despite selling me an amp that they determined would fix it. It didn't. Scott told me the only way to fix the problem was to purchase and install an EQ. Of course my first thought was he was selling me more BS the way the other 2 had. But he went into detail about what was causing my audio problem and he seemed to understand. Sure enough, with the EQ installed, not only was the problem fixed, but my system sounded great! The 2nd time I went to them was simply to just check everything out from top to bottom to make sure that anything done by the previous 2 places wasn't causing any hidden problems. If anyone was going to pull a scam on me, this would've been the time to do it. Instead of telling me they found issues that needed to be fixed or replaced, they told me they didn't find anything wrong and they also didn't charge me. Nothing. Not one cent! So it's now about a year later, and I'm taking my business back to them because the original amp that the 2nd place installed is starting to crap out on me. Scott recommended a replacement amp that is a little more than I was hoping to pay, but I really respect Scott's professional opinion and just flat out trust him. I always feel good about my purchases with La Jolla Audio and will not only continue going back to them, but will always highly recommend them to anyone that I know who is looking for an upgrade to their sound system. read more

Wow. What can I say of this place that isn't absolutely incredible? I had brought my 2018 Audi A3 into the shop for installation of an Amp and subwoofer combo. Donald was very insightful on the equipment, was super nice, and even gave me plenty of advice regarding the laws/legal system. (i.e. how to protect myself from the possibility of losing "audicare" warranty on my car, since I was tinkering with the stock system). Regardless the installation was perfect and the sound is incredible, and even very minor aspects of the process were covered by Donald and his team (like cushioning the license plate so it doesn't rattle with the increased bass, and other minor things which have been a blessing). But what really takes the cake for me was months later, after the system was installed in my car, I had to return my car to the dealership for some required nationwide maintenance. Following this repair my sound system was wack (certain speakers not playing, bass not powered, whatever) but instead of bringing it back to the dealership, who I didn't trust to touch the audio system, Donald offered to give it a look for me.... well he eventually identified the problem and fixed it for me free of cost. Totally unnecessary, but greatly appreciated. That's the short and sweet story, but it was truly a bigger deal and Donald and Co, at La Jolla Audio are awesome. I have an old MB, battery keeps dying and I suspect it's from a Parrot BT device I had installed years ago from a place in CT. I spoke to Scott (for about 20 mins) about what I thought it was, and wanted the device removed. He listened to me blather on and was knowledgeable and very helpful. I was able to bring my car by on the same day (score!). While I was there, he tested my iPod connection and Amp to make sure that wasn't part of the drain, and removed that damn Parrot. I can't say enough good things about La Jolla Audio, and particularly Don. I am a total technomoron who needed two additions to my Toyota: a backup alarm system (the car is too old to have come with one) and a new CD player/radio after the 6-disk player that came with the car became unrepairable. Don was endlessly patient and helpful in discussing my options, and even synced the Bluetooth on my phone to the new unit. He then sat in my car with me and explained all the features of my new radio and how to use them while I took notes. (See "technomoron", above.) I had a few more questions the next day and called him, and he answered those questions as well. Normally auto places hate having to deal with people like me (female senior citizen).
