Visited for the first time. Really good authentic Mexican food. Love the little trinkets and items for sale. Got tacos, jamaica agua fresca and chips. Salsa is very good. Hubby ordered flautas, and a wet burrito. He also got an agua fresca. I believe the limon flavor. I ordered a pork tamale, looks like they use pork ribs. The meat is only in the center and the bone still attached. Took one star off for that. Really wish they took the meat off the bone, shredded it and sprinkled it throughout the tamales. Cute decor and service was fast and efficient. My husband said he felt like he was in Mexico.

I was not asked to leave a review here on anywhere. I reviewing because this place deserves to have success. This restaurant serves the BEST Mexican food in the area. Period. I literally just got back from Cancun yesterday and came here to La Hacienda for the first time because I wanted to keep the good energy going! I can honestly say - La Hacienda meets and beats the food I had in Mexico last week!!!! The entire place has good energy. The owner is always there and makes you feel welcomed as if you were visiting her home.

Mexican nachos

Yum! Got the Mexican nachos for delivery today and it was delicious. The chips were still crispy when they arrived! Included in the nachos were pinto beans, tomato, lettuce, cheese carne asada, and they added jalapeños which I thought was a cool personal addition to this meal.

We tend to enjoy places and people with a bit of verve or quirk in the classic sense: that keeps life entertaining and adventurous in salubrious ways. For what else is there to do but having a fun time with friends and family with yummy, sumptuously fragrant coffee and a desi style or authentic snack when bored on a misty afternoon? I did relish the savory snacks with variety of flavors straight from a Dickens of Constantinople or Lahori vibe, though hybrid with British and American interests. This place was friendly, fun, and full of good vibes --right in the midst of a bubbly college town. Highly recommended--hope they make more seating arrangements for more crowds coming soon. In'sha'Allah.

The place was packed with college kids and friends there to socialize. We got the salted caramel latte which was very sweet. I would have gotten a less sweet drink based on the decadent desserts we had - the brownie cheesecake was just overflowing with caramel on top and the tiramisu had an interesting look with the cocoa powder surrounding the outside hiding all the delicious layers inside. Both desserts were $9-10 and were on the higher end price wise, but they were both delicious. There are a lot of options in drinks and baked items, but the tables may be sparse if you're looking to stay in. The later evening hours are big plus if you're looking for somewhere to meet friends in a casual, relaxed environment.

She engaged in conversation with me, as I am not from Jersey and helped me with the menu clarity. There is no parking lot here, but alot of street parking. They also have specialty turkish sweets and others such as cheesecake, dubai chocolate, parfaits & other things that I do not even know the name of. I wish i could try them all without getting cavities haha. When I come back to Jersey I will definitely be coming back to this cafe as it is a hot commodity to me!

I wish I had tried this muchhhh sooner-- 1st time; Tried the Iced Caramel Voltage. It was sooo good, perfectly sweet and the quality of the coffee was well roasted. 2nd time; Tried the Iced Crème Brûlée Latte. Also very delicious, they mix vanilla powder into the milk and it's so flavorful! My friend tried the hot Biscoff Latte and also absolutely loved it-- Sooo many options on the menu and sweet treats to choose from (it can get overwhelming!) My only note is that they only had one person running the shop both times I visited and there was quite some traffic for one person to handle. The other time visiting, they were mostly out of select coffees, decaf, etc by Noon and limited w milk stock.

On our way to the café, we were pleasantly surprised by a tour of Rutgers. The staff at Hidden Grounds are incredibly friendly and welcoming. They're particularly known for their chai, so my friend ordered a Rose Chai over ice, while I opted for a Hot Dirty Chai. Another friend chose the Honey Bee Latte, also over ice. The chai is amazing--it's aromatic and captures the essence of a proper chai. The Rose Chai was very good too, perfectly balanced! Overall, it's a great coffee shop with a lovely space for everyone to sit and enjoy their drinks.

What caught my eye was the New Orleans brew. The barista was helpful in explaining what it was and if anyone has ever had coffee from New Orleans you would know the chicory flavor is a game changer. I had their version of the New Orleans brew iced without the simple syrup and I was impressed. The coffee needed no sugar. It was a bold and smooth taste that blended well with the almond milk. So glad I tried it.. it will be my go to moving forward. Now they had some amazing looking cookies in there that were huge that I will be back soon for. The place is small but a decent spot for getting some work on the computer done.

Coffee is genuinely top notch. I drink lattes and theirs are consistent, which is harder to pull off than people think. No burnt shots, no soupy foam. Staff are friendly and mostly Rutgers students, so the faces rotate a bit, but they're always on it. Mo, the owner, is around all the time and is a great guy -- the kind of place where the owner actually knows the regulars.
