The establishment itself seemed orderly, well-maintained, and big. Plenty of seating and very spacious. When I walked in, I found the decore, while nice, nothing too special as it just had a generic theme. The building is sandwiched between Starbucks and a Vitamin shop, off State Road 7, and close to the Wellington Mall. There is some greenery in front of the building; however, I was very happy to find this little gem upon the recommendation of a pal. I approached the counter eager to try some new foods. I have recently begun to expand my diet to include cuisine from Latin America. I decided for dinner this evening to try some Peruvian food. This place had a bit of a fast food vibe but this did not discourage me from trying La Granja. When I glanced at the menu, I was amazed at the variety on it. From beef to chicken to sandwiches to sides, everything seemed mouthwatering. I was greeted with a simple, yet friendly, hello at the counter. I must have arrived toward the end of the dinner rush as nobody else was at the count but a few patrons were eating. I decided to try the number two special, which is a 1/4 chicken with sides of rice, black beans, and plantains. Since it was my first time here, and I had been meaning to try one, I ordered a Peruvian empanada. A chicken one to be precise. The special also came with a fountain beverage of my choosing. My total was 14 dollars. This does not seem that bad for all of this food and drink. I waited by the condiments station which had a good selection of various species and toppings from garlic to hot sauces. I tried a few! Super glad I did as I have found I enjoy the garlic sauce. My food took a little less than 10 minutes to prepare which did not seem that bad of a wait. I filled up my drink and departed. Upon returning home I sampled some of the rice and beans. The beans were still very hot but very tasty and the rice had a bit of a compacted texture; however, still good. The chicken tasted fresh and was filling. The skin must have had some sort of seasoning because it tasted wonderful. The plantains were a bit small but I liked them too. The chicken empanada was big and did not have too much of a crunchy texture to it, which I liked. Overall I enjoyed my experience with La Granja. Prices were beyond reasonable, the staff seemed nice, and the food was pretty tasty.

Always made fresh to order any way you want it, fresh chicken, fresh pork, fresh fish absolutely delicious.

Food is excellent. If you speak Spanish it always helps things.... Other than that people are polite and I have never had a problem.

There is supposed to be a happy hour from 4-7, but we didn't get the discount on our drinks when the bill arrived. She definitely tried to upsell us on additonal items which i get, but this wasn't my first time here so we came with the intent of taking full advantage of the specials. Again though, the ceviches is the best in the entire area that I've had. The mixto in particular is my jam as it presents to limey and juicy and the chilled sweet potato is perfectly cooked. The corn snacks are delightfullly crunchy. The calamari frita side addition for $3 more is worth it to have something cooked to compliment the cold dish. My daughter also highly recommends the chicha morada. The cinnamon and other warm spices are in the background, but pleasantly supportive of the sweet purple corn and tangy lime juices. They both excellent outdoor seating options and very cleanly decorated interior dining options.

Here's the breakdown: * Pork bao ($3 Monday night special!) - fluffy little pillows of joy. * Pisco sours - dangerously easy to drink and delicious. * Mussels appetizer - flavorful and shareable. * Mains: the grilled octopus/shrimp with potatoes? Yes, please. The crispy duck? Not so crispy... and a little overcooked. Duck sadness. Luckily, dessert redeemed everything--the Lucuma ice cream was so good it deserves its own fan club. The vibe inside is gorgeous too--great decor makes you want to linger just a little longer. Final verdict: overall a 4.5, but let's be real, we're rounding up to 5 because anything less would feel stingy.
