This place has completely fallen off. I've been going here for about 11 years or so. Long before the nightclub discotheque outside. Long before an outside bar. Back when they used to focus only on their food. Last visit, my Cuban sandwich was absolutely gross, the bread was rock hard, the pernil was super dry, and the cheese wasn't even melted. I let that one slide and chalked it up to the kitchen having a bad day. However, yesterday was even more horrendous experience. I've been Puerto Rican my entire life lol. Almost 50 years of existence. I have never in my life encountered a more soggy greasy and squishy Chicharron as I did yesterday. It was an absolute abomination. A disgrace to all of Latin heritage. The little bits of meat were rock hard and burnt to a crisp. What's supposed to be crispy skin, was completely soggy and soft. As if it had never been cooked at all. I have no idea how you could get the meat burnt to a crisp and the skin completely soggy on pork belly. I'm completely appalled the fact that it was even given to me. Whoever was in the kitchen should have known better than to serve that slop. It's an embarrassment to the establishment to even have put that into the window to be given to a customer. There's absolutely no way the person in the kitchen knows what they're doing with Latin food if that was served. It deeply saddened me to say I'll never go back to this place again. Waited 25 mins for a cuban sandwich and waited another 20 mins for a chicken sandwich and pataconies. The food is very plain nothing to talk about. The music was extremely loud could not hear each other and the street noise was loud parking was terrible car double parked behind us and to look 15 mins for the driver the restaurant personnel were no help on top of that they automatically add the gratuity, so the service is terrible because they know they are getting theirs amy way. What an unexpected lovely surprise in West Palm Beach. This is a 24/7 place where there is a line no matter when you arrive. We visited for dinner, lunch and then breakfast on separate occasions. They serve FRESH SQUEEZED ORANGE JUICE for breakfast. How can you beat that? How many 24/7 places even do this? They are efficient, there is no question about that. But the food is good. The empanadas columbianas, arroz y frijoles were delicious. One evening we had the Sopa de marisco - seafood soup with unbelievable seafood broth. It was the best soup we have had in quite some time. Don café is a good choice at any time of the day. They're open 24 hours which is a huge plus. Their food was very good and so was the service. I love coming here in the morning for breakfast as they are very fast and inexpensive. The Cafe Con Leche is so good here and gives you that extra boost in the morning so you can feel oh so mighty. They have specials every day on the board. There is a sitting area outdoors with umbrellas and also inside. They are open 24/7 which means you can get wasted and have food during weee hours ;0). Today I ordered lunch for the first time here. Ceviche with Tostones (not bad for $5.99). I also ordered the Seabass with broiled yuca, rice n beans ($6.99). Not bad at all except for they gave me Tilapia and not Seabass. So inexpensive, I'm not even going to argue plus I ate a piece. I think they gave me a wrong order. Oh well, good non the less. Tostones & Steak Monfongo Portion sizes here are generous, and I'd say they give you your money's worth easily for the entrees. The chicken on the tostones was very moist and well seasoned. I would have enjoyed that as an entree served over rice. The steak with the monfongo was a bit over cooked for my liking, and was served separate from the actual plantain 'base' which is different than any other time I've had monfongo. I was there a couple weeks ago, the food is good. My son was visiting from Pennsylvania and when he flies into West Palm we go eat there. On this particular night, we ordered 2 kids meal, 1 entree and 2 sandwiches. Our server when we asked to pay she shows my son her hand held machine where she takes the orders, she shows him the amount , he tips he 20% of the bill, which is good. Unfortunately she does not tell him tip is already included she was upset when we asked for the check and said something. She gives him the 18% she added without saying a word which was about $11.59 but kept the $16.50 he added. I'm a server and we ARE SUPPOSE TO TELL OUR GUEST TIP IS INCLUDED, always up to the guest to decide if they want to tip extra. After speaking with the manager Olmer he said he would handle the situation, finally after 2 weeks was able to pick up my son's money, So her being greedy received nothing as a tip. The food there is actually good, but that was absolutely wrong, Make sure them servers give you a receipt because who knows how many times she's done this, wish I can remember her name, and like I told the manager it's not about the money it's about the principle . Dishonest and untruthful! There was a problem with an order for delivery. After I paid for it I was given notice that delivery would be in eight hours. I immediately sent an email to them and also to the delivery company telling them to cancel the order and don't deliver it. It was delivered eight hours later and I refuse to accept delivery. I called Don Café and the manager told me he would take care of it and call me back that day. He didn't call back. I tried to reach him the next day but he refused to take my calls.
